Alepou emailed with some great news for Aussies: "I found the new R2-D2 set at retail store Target tonight here in Melbourne! It was at a shopping centre called Northlands.

"Target is running a 20% off Lego special which ends on Wednesday. RRP was $249.00 AUD so with 20% off it worked out at $199.20."

Here's a picture of it on the shelf.  It sounds like a bit of a bargain: I don't think it's available at that level of discount anywhere else in the world.

I have been to a Target in Melbourne but I do not know if it is this one. Two questions. Did the Northlands shopping centre have a china bar? Did the Lego area have a display? Was that the new star wars set 9498 there. Wow, the most popular themes star wars was it and Lego decided out of all the countries ours was chosen to sell the sets first. But we live in the southern hemisphere that is why we always get the sets last. That was my longest coment. See ya from legoyt.

Northlands is in the suburb of Preston in Melbourne's inner North. The Lego set were on display on the end of the Lego section as shown on the "picture of the shelf". Must hurry, I think the sale ends tomorrow!

See a picture of the set at my place with someone giving a bit of love. :)

What about any sightings in NSW?

I have managed to hold off on anything for a few months, but I'm checking it out tomorrow for sure.

Alepou, I have to be nitpicky... it's Northland, not Northlands. If you're going to add an s to the end (which I know is a traditional thing to do in Australia) then you should also change the 'th' to an f and call it Norflands, which is what I believe the cool kids do.

Is it anywhere near Ramsay Street, Erinsborough or the Lassiters complex? :)

@urbaer, ha ha true, I normally shop at knife point, sorry, I mean Highpoint Shopping Centre!

@ Huw, no, it's not. But I can get you a picture of Wentworth Detention Centre from the TV show Prisoner or you may know it as 'Prisoner: Cell Block H'. I sometimes work out that way.

Target employee told me that the stores have the r2 d2 sets, but will put them on shelves during the mid year toy sale in June. They will hopefully be 20% off then too, just have to wait a couple of weeks and make sure to get early, because the big sets sell fast during these sales...

Will the toy sales be in June or July this year? Last year they were in July.
