Nice photography as always.

I MUST pick up a Green Lantern minifig somewhere.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 23 Jun 2012 06:20

I suspect a version of him will appear in a set soon enough -- at least I hope so!

Posted by Zelyonii-Zaktan in Russian Federation, 23 Jun 2012 07:19

Great job, but why is the year for Lex Lutor is 0? And I don't think that Davy Johns and his sailors belong to the Black Pearl's crew, even though they're included in that set!

Posted by icey in Denmark, 23 Jun 2012 07:40

Great...really great. The black galeon figure of the Black pearl... you don't count her as a minifigure? I think it's her that is the "Black Pearl", from which the ship gets her name.

Awesome pictures... but per Zelyonii!

Posted by Goldmatt in United States, 23 Jun 2012 08:16

I would suggest putting Davy Jones, Maccus, and Bootstrap Bill in the Flying Dutchmen category to keep Hadras company.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 23 Jun 2012 08:32

Thanks, done. So Joshamee Gibbs is the only BP crew member, then, apart from those in other categories?

The listing for the new Lex Luthor minifig seems to be incomplete. It says it doesn't appear in a set (which it clearly does -- at least, if the promo Hulk minifig can be said to belong to a set, then so can Warsuit Lex), and as Zelyonii-Zaktan has pointed out, its year of release isn't identified. Also, the 30164 listing isn't linked to the minifig listing for Warsuit Lex.

Regarding the GL minifig, my concern is the only mass-produced version we'll see will match the one in the Batman 2 videogame, and not the movie version released as a promo. In which case, the only way to get the exclusive Comic-Con minifig will be to pony up some major dough on eBay or elsewhere.

^ We are reliant on BrickLink for minifig numbers and in-set inventories but they have not listed it in their database yet. I've therefore added something to the local database that will get merged in overnight.

Huw, I assume you'll update the gallery yet again when Spidermans Doc Ock Ambush is out?

Posted by dmm32552 in United States, 23 Jun 2012 09:38

Nice work, Huw. And indeed, LEGO dropped the ball in providing only one actual crew member of the Black Pearl (the already available Gibbs) in its Black Pearl set. That sent the signal to me that they do not plan to revisit this theme ever again. They took all the figs you'd want to see in a Flying Dutchman set and put them on the Pearl. Maybe if another POTC flick comes out, they'll release a Dutchman set and include Pintel & Ragetti!

I liked reading my dad's old GL comics, so I was sad about the limited availability...

I want a true black version of green lantern, in the upcoming sets, not this white one.

Posted by jsutton in United Kingdom, 23 Jun 2012 10:23

I think it shouldn't pose too great a technical challenge for an enterprising vendor to produce high-quality decals for the heads and chests of the htf figs. And I'd count the original Lando fig as htf.

I still think Lego dropped a ball by not having a Green Lantern set in their DC superheroes lineup. It's a character that has enjoyed a lot of popularity lately thanks to good DC story lines, an animated series and a recent motion picture (that at least a few people liked). My hope would be a phase II set that included Green Lantern, Sinestro and about 800 trans-yellow and trans-green pieces of various sizes so you could make them battle it out to the limit of your imagination. A perfect fit for Lego.

@Huw Although I liked the way you organized it, you could probably get away with sticking Joshamee Gibbs in with Jack and calling it Jack Sparrow and crew or something like that.

Posted by jarolo145 in United States, 23 Jun 2012 15:22

and now we wait for the Spider Man set... and possibly a Dark Knight Rises one if they are making one.

Thanks for the great pictures. Being able to see the figs in such details really influences my descisions on what sets to get.

Here's the link to "All" the superheroes...

@dmm32552 - Yes, including Davy Jones, Maacus and Boostrap Bill was a weird choice indeed. Maybe they had a Flying Dutchman on the drawing board but scrapped it due to the POTC sales. Then again, releasing three large ships for one theme in one year would be pretty unusual.

Still, there's always Cuusoo:

"Important Note: These images are ©Brickset.com and are not to be used elsewhere without prior permission"

Amen.

These shots (like all brickset minifigs pics) are flawless. Your photos kick minifig butt, Huw!

Posted by voypro in United States, 23 Jun 2012 23:14

Also, i just had a (Double entendre... painfully-omitted-by-myself) thought...
If they do a Golden Age Green Lantern, will that be the first openly gay minifig?

Posted by Mars Needs LEGO in United States, 24 Jun 2012 00:17

I love having all the superhero (and related character) minifigs on one page. Just being able to make the side-by-side comparison between the original Batman minifigs and the new ones is wonderful. Thanks, yellowcastle!

Huw's photos are so good, hopefully people don't start ripping them off and using them for their ebay auctions, like they do Dan Curto's Star Wars photos.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 24 Jun 2012 03:42

^ They already do...

Posted by LukeSkywalker in Ireland, 24 Jun 2012 04:42

^@Huw is there anything you can do to "punish" them somehow, like report their copyright fraud to lead to the potential removal of their listings or suspension of their account? It really annoys me when people copy stuff like that, have had it happen to a few videos of mine on YouTube, makes me want to go all Hulk on their ass... :P

Posted by supersympa in Sweden, 24 Jun 2012 11:26

great job Huw!
Thank you

Posted by nightmarevalkyrie in United States, 24 Jun 2012 17:42

wow amazing hopefully the green lantern will be in a later set this year, and does anybody know when the avengers polybag sets are coming out in the USA I'm waiting for the Thor and the cosmic cube set its an easy way to get thor and not pay 50$ for the helicarrier set

Posted by Brickman193 in Australia, 25 Jun 2012 07:14

I see that Sinestro has appeared in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes... I would dearly love a GL/Sinestro set somewhere down the line. But for the moment, I can only twiddle my thumbs and dream...

Posted by Konstantin in United States, 25 Jun 2012 23:27

Add the studios spiderman and the Batman theme characters to the gallery.

Posted by Brickman193 in Australia, 26 Jun 2012 05:05

I know everyone keeps offering and demanding changes to the photo galleries, but I thought I might throw my two cents in, re the POTC photos... Gibbs is the right-hand man of Jack Sparrow; half the continuing humour of the series come from their relationship. Perhaps putting his photo into the 'Main Characters' section wouldn't be too much of a stretch, considering the Black Pearl Crew section will never be filled by other characters?
