Apologies for the downtime today

  • Apologies for the downtime today

Nearly 12 hours of downtime is totally unacceptable and I apologise. The servers used to be hosted by Northstar Computer Services, run by Eric who's admin at BrickLink, but he recently sold the business to another company and this was the first time there's been a problem since then. Consequently I wasn't aware of the correct out-of-hours support arrangements and they were not totally familiar with the the server setup.

Anyway, we're back up now, and hopefully, if there is a next time, both they and I will be better prepared to deal with it.

No worries, I'm used to MOCpages being down so I see it and was like, "Not usuall for this place, but it'll be up soon."

No worries - Believe it or not you guys were the ones who inspired me to buy a VPS of my own.... Totally changed the way I do computing for my business :)

As my grandpa is fond of saying: "Stuff happens". In fact, with the amount of traffic and activity on this site, I'm surprised things like this don't happen more often. You fellas really are getting your money's worth out of your servers!

One cannot appreciate the seriousness of addiction until the terror of withdrawal sets in. Thank goodness it was only temporary. Hopefully most, if not all, Brickset users survived. ;-) Seriously, it is impressive how well run and responsive this site is. Thanks, Huw, for all of your effort and the terrific results.

Big thanks Huw for the hard work you have put in to getting it back and running. It is much appreciated as I too am now a Brickset Addict

Business continuity plans are always a major hassle...until you actually need to invoke them :o)

I am with Andhe. Or I have to tell our admin to put the site on the "blocked" list. Just have to think of a category, it is not really "adult", not "gambling", mmh...

^ I don't know about that; there were photos of some hot, nude Jabba the other day...

So is this what is also causing issues and BL?
It seems Inventory lists are not appearing for some sets

I'm absolutely disgusted by this morning's loss of service! I look forward to the complimentary Super Star Destroyer by way of compensation! 8oP

My nervousness at the lack of brickset I guess indicates the creeping inevitability of AFOLness.
The wife is also beginning to see thru the kids as an excuse routine...
Good to have you back Huw/brickset!

As long as i don't miss any pictures of new superheroes sets, and/or release dates I'm fine with some downtime.

You have no idea how any times times I hit the F5 key on my computer. I thought the button was broken!
