First off, apologies to those Brickset readers outside of the UK !

The Daily Mirror / Sunday Mirror newspapers in the UK are running a Star Wars LEGO promotion, starting this Saturday 5th September.

Details to be confirmed, but it looks like you will need to buy the newspaper on each day to get a voucher for a free SW Lego toy that will need to be collected from UK Toys-R-US or WH Smiths. No info on a mail-in version, which they have offered on previous similar offers.

    The toys available are -

    • Sat 5th Sept - Imperial Speeder Bike
    • Sun 6th Sept - Clone Walker
    • Mon 7th Sept - Mini TIE Fighter
    • Tues 8th Sept - Battle Droid on STAP
    • Wed 9th Sept - Mini V-19 Torrent
    • Thurs 10th Sept - Mini Grievous's Starfighter
    • Fri 11th Sept - Collectors Box
    • Sat 12th Sept - Poster
    • Sun 13th Sept - Stickers

... which answers the question about availability of the 30004/30005/30006 sets.

    More info here - http://www.mirror.co.uk/lego/

There are also lots of other goodies on the site, including wallpapers & a game.

Thanks to those that emailed us with the news.

The sets are awesome though....

Posted by c.lee.r in United States, 03 Sep 2009 13:50

i hope they have a mail in version. i live here in the US and will go to the nearest place that sells overseas papers.

Posted by apustow in United Kingdom, 03 Sep 2009 13:51

Do you think that we have to collect each toy on the day the voucher for it is released?? or can we save them up and collect everything at the end?

Posted by Danson Delta-40 in United States, 03 Sep 2009 13:51

AAAAAAAHHHH! Runs around screaming in frustration swearing and ripping out hair while onlookers cautiously back up

Posted by MisterFubar in United States, 03 Sep 2009 13:57

What a great promotion.

I can't imagine them not making these sets available in other countries eventually.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 03 Sep 2009 14:30

Wow! That's great! Another UK-only promo!

Posted by lego_here in United Kingdom, 03 Sep 2009 14:48

these sets are gonna be rare after wards they only make it available in the uk

Posted by szww in Poland, 03 Sep 2009 15:08

I LOVE UK :D

Posted by ET in United States, 03 Sep 2009 15:13

I hope the US gets these somehow...

Posted by dfenz in Ireland, 03 Sep 2009 16:28

The last time the Mirror offered sets like this the offer was available in Ireland with the sets being available for collection in the Smyths chain of stores (or mail in). Anyone know if the sets are also available with the Irish editions of the paper?

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, 03 Sep 2009 16:36

Darn. Stuff like that never happens here. But when it said "daily mirror" I thought they meant the Daily Mirror here.Maybe for my next B-day I might ask for Plain tickets to the UK instead of a $100 Space Police set.

Posted by capnrex in United Kingdom, 03 Sep 2009 16:54

Yes! I'm glad that these are going to be in the UK. The Clone Walker and Battle Droid on STAP look pretty good, and the others look pretty good too!

Posted by Ultimate Brickmaster in Ireland, 03 Sep 2009 17:40

Ya I assume this promotion is in Ireland like the last one I don't see why not!! I'll be really upset if it not in Ireland!!

Posted by Unknown User2596 in United States, 03 Sep 2009 19:32

That's it; I'm moving to the UK.....

Posted by EarthlingJJ in United States, 03 Sep 2009 20:00

I'm betting the V-19 Torrent and Greivous Starfighter are the same that Target had around Easter here in the US...
Still, yes it would be nice to get the others...

Posted by southpaw in United States, 03 Sep 2009 20:30

Please, Huw can you help the guys in the US out? How do people in the US get these?!? I REALLY want these ones. :(

Posted by Unknown User2596 in United States, 03 Sep 2009 20:39

All of you could easily build these; just find the pieces you need, find the instructions and you don't have to get these sets via overseas.

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 03 Sep 2009 21:19

Maybe we (the unfortunate americans) can get them via bricklink and ebay. Not amazon, they overcharge for everything discontinued. I mean come on, $1000 for the batcave, really.

Posted by HOB594 in United States, 04 Sep 2009 00:51

well thats a really cool idea but it sucks for everyone outside UK like me they should do it some other places but this could just be a trial think keep ur hopes up

Posted by HOB594 in United States, 04 Sep 2009 00:53

and the comics are just off Lego.com if u go to the star wars product page and hit on comics by the way
along with the game and for someone reason i tried to hop on the star wars page and it said it was busy might be down

Posted by Tb96 in Sweden, 04 Sep 2009 01:14

AHHH, not again!

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 04 Sep 2009 03:46

The Daily Mirror's horrible, and I'd never normally buy it, but I might just have to buy it for the next 9 days to get these cool sets..... So great promo for the newspaper and for me !

The Mini Grievous's Starfighter & Mini V-19 Torrent are the same sets that were previously available in the US from Target stores back at Easter.

Posted by Johnnus in Australia, 04 Sep 2009 07:45

if you have relatives (even distant ones) you could ask them to buy the paper because the lego is free

Posted by dfenz in Ireland, 04 Sep 2009 08:22

I can confirm that the Irish editions of the papers are today advertising the promotion is available in Ireland but there will be no mail-in facility so daily purchases and visits to Smyths Toys stores will be required. I can't imagine too many purchases of the newspaper for the storage box or stickers so the Mirror might have missed a trick in not having the mail in option.

Posted by darthdc in United Kingdom, 04 Sep 2009 11:22

I picked up the last promotional sets from the mirror (some were lousy) - all built up and in the box. The only prob I had then was that the shop (Woolworths) needed the coupon cut out - and it was only valid for the day of purchase. I had to take a pair of scissors or carefully tear it out, and avoid being had up for nicking the newspaper. Maybe WH Smiths will give you the set with the newspaper, without the need to tear the voucher out.

Posted by THX 1138 in United States, 04 Sep 2009 11:26

I sure hope they make these available in the US.

Posted by iabstract in United States, 04 Sep 2009 11:46

Yeah, sucks for everyone but the UKers, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made their way here, just like the mini Torrent and General Grievous have finally made their way there. Hopefully, anyway. :)

AWESOME I cant wait

Posted by alpha 40 in United States, 04 Sep 2009 15:37

For those of you who subscribe to the lego club magazine, you can look at the brickmaster section in the back and if you notice instead of announcing the Jan-Feb exclusive it skips it and announces the march-april. Also for jan-feb instead of saying exclusive it says top secret exclusive. Hopefully it will be these three set!

P.S. this is my first comment!

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 04 Sep 2009 16:17

WOW I can't wait. We order the daily mirror so I will definitely get them -THIS IS SO COOL

Posted by apustow in United Kingdom, 04 Sep 2009 16:34

As no one i know has the mirror, my parents are getting it on sunday so i get the clone trooper (the only one i really want anyway). And we are close to a WH Smiths so :)

Posted by commander fionn in Ireland, 05 Sep 2009 04:15

I'm ordering all of them and buying 5 today

they're so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Renegade007cjh in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2009 04:32

Got my first token today... yes, it's also a mail-away if you're nowhere near WHSmith / Toys R Us et al, BUT it's a hefty £5.99 for P&P plus the cost of the papers. The good news is that you only need FIVE of the tokens, so you don't have to buy it everyday (but craftily the address to send it to won't be printed until "later" in the week. Incidentally, there are only seven tokens to collect - the poster and the stickers look like they are actually inside the papers next Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Posted by primetime in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2009 04:38

I just went down town with my son to pick up two sets with two vouchers. I then bought another paper in WH Smiths and got another set plus the untouched voucher so I can send off for the complete collection.

The box behind the counter holding the sets looked small though so I imagine these sets will disappear quickly - it is Star Wars branded after all.

Then again, the chrome Darth Vaders were meant to be US exclusives and TRU UK are still running the promotion.

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2009 05:36

Just picked up the Imperial Speeder Bike from Smiths, it says you can only collect 'one per reader' from the stores so I would think it's pretty easy to get multiple sets if you go to a different server or take lots of buddies with you. I'll collect one set from the stores I think and send off for another set.

Posted by ponkusjr in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2009 05:48

wow! these little promo sets are great. my whole family knows i am crazy about star wars lego so each one got one for me this morning. Four in alll so opened two and kept the other two packaged up. cant wait till tommorow. nice one daily mirror/lego.

Posted by ponkusjr in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2009 12:22

I have two of these speeder sets spare, and i am after the lego indiana jones brickmaster set 20004 jeep. if anyone wants to swap.

At first i thought that for only 65p (the cost of the paper) this was a great deal. However, later on when I checked the (very) small print, i discovered that you had to redeem the voucher on the same day that you bought the paper, and as I couldn't get to a WHsmiths or toys-r-us till the next day...well all I can say is next time I will certainly check twice before getting these "great" offers!

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2009 16:18

The "redeem same day" thing is a waste of time so I'll send the tokens instead.

Posted by brickzone in Ireland, 05 Sep 2009 18:38

Just to confirm the mail-in option is available for Ireland - you have to send a cheque for €7.99. Saturday's paper was €1 here, a bit more than the UK I imagine and from what I remember, more than just last year!

Smyth's Toys had a big box of the speeders, and there were a number of people redeeming coupons when I was there - some like me were making purchases too so I think it's been a good promotion for Smyth's (and Lego).

Posted by ARC170Dinofighter in Canada, 05 Sep 2009 22:07

Although I am upset, most of these have already been made.
No biggie.

Posted by levi in United States, 06 Sep 2009 08:18

I love the lego clone walker I live in the us and I going to get five of theme

Posted by lego_here in United Kingdom, 06 Sep 2009 13:39

you know you can buy these of ebay if you spend alot of money if you dont live in the uk

Posted by Yoda 56 in United States, 06 Sep 2009 13:54

I hope some promotion like that would come to the U.S. some day!

Posted by primetime in United Kingdom, 07 Sep 2009 05:07

My wife had some spare vouchers/coupons so she went to WH Smiths late in the day and said there were loads left. It was the same on Saturday.

I don't think people in my part of the world are that interested.

I wonder what happens to the remaining packs.

Posted by apustow in United Kingdom, 07 Sep 2009 05:28

i managed in the end to get 4 clone trooper walkers and was quite happy with myself, but on the internet i found someone had about 15 packs!

At £1 a paper, its actually the cheapest way to get clone troopers.

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 07 Sep 2009 08:23

15 packs ?! That's just plain greedy ! Some places had run out of sets by late morning or lunchtime yesterday, and people were turned away empty-handed. Now I know why.......

Happy building, anyway - the TIE today is nice, a bigger than the older 3219 mini set, and another great giveaway.

You can get the Mini V-19 off of LEGOshop, it's only $3.99

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 10 Sep 2009 14:48

I see that one person is selling all 6 promo sets on Ebay with free delivery worldwide!

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 10 Sep 2009 23:16

@WedgeAntilles: Do you know if the mini v-19's also sell in lego stores?

Posted by chrisdog121411 in United States, 11 Sep 2009 00:16

@Leggodt when i went to the lego store last week i think i might of saw it.

for $3.99 +tax

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 11 Sep 2009 23:46

Sweet! Thanks chrisdog!

Posted by chrisdog121411 in United States, 12 Sep 2009 00:08

@Leggodt dont mention it :)

Posted by Sabreman64 in United Kingdom, 12 Sep 2009 06:29

I only found out about this promotion last night, and so I'm too late to buy the issues of the Mirror to get the vouchers. I'll have to resort to the greedy sellers on ebay and their extortionate prices. *sigh*

How much would these small sets cost (in GBP) if they were available for sale at retail? I don't mind paying for these six sets on ebay, but I have no intention of paying more than they would cost if available to buy at retail.

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 13 Sep 2009 02:48

I read somewhere the retail price for these sets would be £4.00 each.

Posted by StealthNinja999 in United Kingdom, 14 Sep 2009 15:34

I have the whole collection and they're great! The box and stickers are nothing special though.

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 14 Sep 2009 20:43

Why aren't the SW pictures on Brickset? I mean it's on the article, but not the set details page.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 15 Sep 2009 15:38

@jonbuddy - Which pictures do you mean ?
