It won't be long now until the other two minifigure give-aways, Shazam & Venom, are revealed too ...

Thanks to 'legoyt' and 'LukeSkywalker' for the heads-up.

Update:  CNN has posted pics of the final 2 figures.  Thanks to Legolover9531 for the heads up.

wow!!!! Why can't I be there! :'(

Posted by kurttkrueger in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 03:23

Phoenix is really nice. Wondering if it's worth shelling out for one now in order to get one before the prices sky rocket.

Posted by supersympa in Sweden, 12 Jul 2012 03:46

niiiice!

Posted by TinyHippo in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 04:30

Her bosom is a tiny bit low, although breast-placement on minifigs has always been a sticky wicket. Otherwise she has my full approval!

Posted by Zander in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 04:41

I don't know if it's a trick of the light but it looks like Phoenix's hands and legs (and décolletage?) are yellow, not fleshy even though her head is definitely flesh. How strange - and cool - is that?!

Posted by max villano in Greece, 12 Jul 2012 04:55

Venom!!! We need Venom!!!!

Posted by bezetkace in Poland, 12 Jul 2012 04:57

No! We need Mysterio!

Posted by DarthSte in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 05:10

Zander - her costume is green and gold/yellow, the yellow "décolletage" is the Phoenix emblem.

Me wants Bizarro. Can not go. Can not have. Me cry.

Posted by Frederick B. in Norway, 12 Jul 2012 06:19

Why can not i go on holiday in san diego, im begining to cry:(

Posted by Gregorovich in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 06:26

Not particularly bothered about Bizarro (although he is pretty accurate looking), but I'm really sad I'm missing out on Pheonix! I hope her head and hair appear on at least a different outfit in a regular set one day. I don't like how they are making female exclusive figs, it makes me want them even more:P.

Posted by Chooch in United States, 12 Jul 2012 07:13

Is anyone noticing that these might be magnets? Notice the studs at the bottom are facing outward...or is that just a 1x2 for them to stand on??

Posted by supersympa in Sweden, 12 Jul 2012 07:28

@chooch just a 1x2 stud standing
similar to last year's green lantern and batman

I've never been into comic books with the exception of Conan the Barbarian (if they make a 70s version of him I'd buy it). I'm surprised Lego just doesn't start releasing sets for all the various superheroes similiar (in package) to how they are giving them away at SDCC. There are 100s of superheroes and supporting characters they can use. It could be a line similiar to action figures and they could have variants (with accessories), they could probably charge $5 a pop.

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 12 Jul 2012 07:55

^ They can't do that because of licensing issues, same reason they can't with Star Wars.

At least that's why I think they can't? If not then they most definitely should :D

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 09:01

^ As also figures tend to be one of the many reasons people buy certain sets. Why charge people $5 for a fig when they will pay $25 for a set to get that fig? :D

Posted by beefygrefe in United States, 12 Jul 2012 09:37

It is my hope that since Lego gets snapped down whenever they try to sell "action figures" maybe they could do a set of superheroes in collectable minifigure format. I would hope it wouldn't be any different than the various other collectables that companies put in blister packs/boxes.

Posted by Zander in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 09:44

^Because it's better for TLG's top line - and probably bottom line - to sell 10 minifigures at $5 each than 1 set at $25. And yes, I do think they would sell 10:1.

Posted by homelesshomie in United States, 12 Jul 2012 10:25

You guys talking about the collectable minifigures series. They easily could create a special series of 16 Dc characters and a 16 Marvel characters series. Just look at the special series for the GB Olympics. They could even charge $5 per figure and they would probably run out of their first waves in days.

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 12 Jul 2012 10:59

Actually Mega Bloks did the same thing. I think LEGO could pull this off.

It goes without saying that the LEGO version would be 1000x better lol

Posted by razorwolf111 in United States, 12 Jul 2012 11:00

i think i know why lego did phoenix because of A VS X

AVENGERS VS X-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Coolcomedian in Norway, 12 Jul 2012 11:41

Coming soon in an ebay near you!

Posted by joedapoboy in United States, 12 Jul 2012 11:42

@Coolcomedian:
True that. siiiigh.

Posted by sarlacc98 in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 11:46

I really don't care for these two I only want venom. But of course I will never be able to afford him. Hopefully they make a set with him. That will mean that we might get to see a normal spidey instead of that weird cartoony one.

Oh and about the collectible minifigs we will probally never get to see them due to legos contract with marvel dc and starwars. Which is to bad.

Posted by rawbob in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 11:50

I think that TLG are missing out by not producing minifig packs for Star Wars, X-men, Batman, etc. Look at how many sellers on ebay part out a set to individually sell minifigs. You could still buy the construction sets with exclusive minifigs or a collection of them but to not sell individually is ridiculous. I realise that TLG will say it's in their contract not be an action figure seller but isn't it about time TLG and the companies that they deal with woke up and smelt the money.

Imagine if there were Star Wars Episode IV Minifig packs for heroes (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Obi-wan, R2, 3PO) and one for villains (Tarkin, Vader, Death squad commander, Tie Figther pilot, etc) then booster packs of 5 stormtroopers with a variant luke/han in stormtrooper armour). Then a few random characters like Tatooine sets (greedo, beru, owen, original furry jacket Jabba, jawa, tusken raider). The possibilities and profits would be endless.

Posted by joedapoboy in United States, 12 Jul 2012 12:08

@tinyhippo

You do know that breasts belong entirely below the armpit, right?

Posted by LegoC10 in United States, 12 Jul 2012 12:22

Oh, they are so lucky!

Posted by beefygrefe in United States, 12 Jul 2012 12:33

@ rawbob - Lego did make figure only packs, back in the day, (see set 3340 as an example). Hasbro hit them with a cease and desist order claiming that they had the exclusive rights to make Star Wars Action Figures. Given how much bigger Hasbro was versus Lego (at the time) I'm not surprised that Lego stopped...

NOW, I don't know if anyone would try and claim that same non-sense for doing collectible super heroes in blind blister packs...unless MegaBlocks would.

Posted by NeilJam in United States, 12 Jul 2012 12:51

The "Action Figure" rights might only apply to Star Wars, and may not be an issue for Super Heroes seeing as how M*** B***s has had blind packed Marvel figures while Hasbro was making Marvel action figures. Although the question is how long does M***B*** have the rights to keep making their figures?

I hope these characters they are handing out at SDCC make it into sets later, especially Phoenix and Venom. I think they are too popular to not show up again, but I fear they could make a Venom maxifig later, with the minifig version remaining exclusive to this promotion.

FOUND IMAGES OF VENOM AND SHAZAM!!

http://geekout.blogs.cnn.com/category/comic-con-2012/?hpt=hp_c2

Posted by beefygrefe in United States, 12 Jul 2012 15:08

^ great find! Makes me really want to shell out for a Venom :(

And what's wrong with Shazam's face?

Posted by rattyop in United States, 12 Jul 2012 15:26

the venom looks more like black suited spiderman

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 12 Jul 2012 15:43

^ That's Peter Parker wearing Venom. :o)

Posted by Legolover9531 in United States, 12 Jul 2012 15:47

Shazam reminds me too much of Bruce Wayne and the Rebel Trooper.

Posted by Modok in United States, 12 Jul 2012 15:50

@ beefygrefe - I know, right? Shazam's face would be better on Bizarro. Or perhaps a Monster Fighters minifig.

@ rattytop - Good, I'm glad the figure's a disappointment. Anyone who gets one is going to make a mint off of it regardless of what it looks like, so at least the rest of us don't have to be bitterly disappointed at missing out on an awesome Venom.

Posted by max villano in Greece, 12 Jul 2012 16:15

well venom doesnt really impress at all,at least l expected him with open mouth well,l hope we get a better version of him at the future.

Posted by Legolover9531 in United States, 12 Jul 2012 16:19

I'm really only out to get Phoinex and Bizzaro having seen the other two.

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 12 Jul 2012 16:54

Shazam is awesome; Venom doesn't look like Venom. It's more like black suit Spiderman. :/

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 12 Jul 2012 17:03

^ 'black suit Spiderman' is the first version of Venom; Peter Parker was the first host of the Venom symbiote

Posted by dhansen22 in United States, 12 Jul 2012 17:04

Shazam has hit eBay already and $400 is the asking price :(

Posted by rattyop in United States, 12 Jul 2012 17:18

thats because it's not out yet it will go down in price when more people have it

Posted by homelesshomie in United States, 12 Jul 2012 17:18

@dhansen22 i saw that. That person who is selling it is dumb, they will never sell it for that much.

Posted by legofanatic2414 in United States, 12 Jul 2012 17:20

When I saw the picture the inner-geek in me outraged. That is NOT the "Venom" we know! That's black-suit Spider-man! Its him wearing the symbiote. What a let down! I was expecting a full on evil eyes, gaping mouth with long tongue, muscular Eddie Brock Venom. Eh well, it still is a nice minifigure, but I'm now more interested in Shazam and Phoenix. Although it is very unlikely I will shell out money for just two minifigures. Either way, I hope we do get an actual "Venom" soon.

Posted by copperwonder96 in United States, 12 Jul 2012 17:29

Unfortunately it is Comicon Tradition to never release an exclusive to the public so these figs will never be seen in any set (lest you face the wrath of the super collector!)

On another note: I have NEVER BEEN MORE ENVIOUS of any Lego exclusive! Gawd those are AWESOME! (Cries real tears)

Posted by MCLegoboy in United States, 12 Jul 2012 18:52

Comic Book Spiderman with the black suit. Venom would have had different eyes and a mouth with the teeth and tongue. Everyone stop saying it is a let down. Venom will come in time if they keep making Marvel sets.

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 12 Jul 2012 18:55

These figures look awesome! Additionally, there is a Tongal contest discussed on each of their packaging materials. Check out these links for more details. The Brickset effect should hopefully spread this around. Any moviemakers could do something with this, and it is not nearly as strict in guidelines as the one posted on fbtb. It also has much bigger prices - a trip to NYC Comic Con to show off your 1 to 3 minute movie, as well as between $1,000 and $10,000 in cash for 1st through 5th place winners.

FYI, Shazam has a reversable head.

Posted by homelesshomie in United States, 12 Jul 2012 22:19

Wow I just checked ebay to see what they are going for and Shazam was sold for $350, and Bizarro was sold for $325. Im sorry but i will never spend that kind of money on a 2 inch piece of plastic.

@copperwonder96 I'm pretty sure tomorrow we will see a similar Green Lantern in a set for 2013 DC sets.

Posted by snoboarder31 in United States, 12 Jul 2012 22:48

*ERK*
WHY, LEGO? WHY?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Posted by Modok in United States, 12 Jul 2012 22:56

@ homelsshomie - I doubt they'll stay anywhere near that price once the initial SDCC hysteria fades. Last year's SDCC exclusives were produced in similar numbers (1,500 each for Batman/Green Lantern vs. 1,000 for Shazam and the rest). The 2011 exclusives now sell for around $100 each. Still a ridiculous amount, but obviously more rational than $350.

I just don't get why anyone would spend that much. Sure, if you bought them *at* SDCC, it's a terrific investment and you'll profit many times over. But if you're buying them for $350 *from* the guy who bought them at SDCC, it's a complete waste, unless you're a completist and just can't live without them. Once the eBay going rate settles in, it's just never going to appreciate much above that.

Posted by homelesshomie in United States, 12 Jul 2012 23:01

@Modok lol no there is no chance for profit at $350. I personally want a shazam and bizarro, and i doubt those two will ever be in a DC set, unlike Phoenix(Jean Grey) and Venom, which i think will be in a set within a couple years.

Posted by Jay Kenobi ZX in United States, 12 Jul 2012 23:09

Why do I never have the opportunity to attend these things? I want those!

Posted by Modok in United States, 12 Jul 2012 23:11

@ Jay Kenobi - Don't feel bad. Even if you attended you weren't guaranteed to get one. You only qualify for a lottery to win one.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 13 Jul 2012 01:23

If it makes anyone feel better, they are impossible to get... at least during day 1. I think I saw someone walking around with a Bizarro, felt too awkward to inquire if they would sell it. The Lego area at SDCC is big, but when they start selling exclusives or giving out stuff it feels like Time Square during New Year's Eve.

Posted by darthcarlos in United States, 13 Jul 2012 01:30

Wow these are nice minifigs. Hope I can get those sometime in the future. Has any one seen the new Batman fig that comes in the future release of the Batman Visual Dictionary. Electro Suit Batman! Check it out:

@darthcarlos
yes, was discussed in the forum a while ago

Posted by captain radda radda in United States, 13 Jul 2012 04:24

I'm kinda unimpressed by "venom" and Captain Marvel. They seem to lack detail or originality and by the way what's up with Captain Marvel's white see-through cape??? in the comics he has a shorter cape highlighted with gold and a collar. Bizarro, though. Wow. That's all I can say. I'm literally floored by the sheer beauty of this figure and the excellent printing and accuracy as well as the faded cape. Lego better release this guy or Ill be forced to shell out $100 for him :(. Oh, and Phoenix is awesome too. Also, I hope this wave of dc isn't dominated by reissues of batman sets because I really want to see the justice league in its beauty. However, Arkham Asylum would be utterly jaw-dropping and I'd love to see minifigs of Nightwing, Freeze, Penguin, Killer Croc, Mad Hatter, Zsasz, Hugo Strange, Firefly, and Scarecrow. As for other dc characters: Green Arrow <3, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Wildcat, Black Canary, Black Lightning, Sinestro, Flash, Zoom, Zatanna, Cyborg, Aquaman, Ras al Ghul, Clayface, Plastic Man, Darkseid, Doomsday, Metallo, Brainiac, Captain Boomerang, Raven, Starfire, Black Manta and (my dream that will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER happen) Morpheous the Dream King from Sandman (DC Vertigo Comics) Most of these are well known heroes/villains and have the potential to be "versus" style sets (ie: Aquaman versus Black Manta, Lantern v Sinestro/Star Sapphire, Flash v Zoom, Black Canary and Green Lantern v any other villain)

Posted by budkin in United States, 14 Jul 2012 17:49

I know these figures are exclusive but does anyone think they'll make other versions of the same characters available in upcoming sets? I really want a Bizarro. I don't care if it looks exactly like this, I just want a figure of the character.
