Three of these appear to be the same as or similar to the tree decorations in 4759, http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4759-1

I really like the Cool Santa set. By the way, you are correct about two of the ornaments being the same as in 4759, but the Christmas tree ornament appears to have been slightly redesigned.

Wow, that's cool(pun intended)! Wait a sec, it's SEPTEMBER! Why are these celebrations starting SO early? Is this the English way? I'm Italian!

They are very similar, but all three ornaments are slightly different from the models in #4759.

@bluemoose: Correct! I noticed too:)!

Which X-Man does the tree belong to? ;)

Today in LEGO store Paris, I saw some new sets - I didn't note the serail numbers (sorry), all of them pirate themed -
Pirate tac-tac-toe at €15, with 5 soldiers and 5 pirates,
Pirate Chess at €45 (obviously 16 minifigs on each side)
and a neat little pirate coin box, no minifigs, €15

None of these seem to be on lego.com nor brickset.com.

I think the tic tac toe is great value for an army builder, though the soldiers lack backpacks - which all the newer pirate sets do it seems.

@Roger Workman
Dang, you beat me to it! :) I would guess that it's Cyclop's tree, which is why there's a couple of holes near the top :D.

I've no interest in these, but it's a great idea. About time Lego does ornaments.

"Thanks" for pointing out the typo ... corrected now (and, yes, it's Cyclop's tree)

@BrianOg, the Pirate tic-tac-toe and battle packs are listed here but potential buyers should be aware that there are some quality issues with minifigs in sets where they come preassembled: They are made in China and not to the same standard at those in regular sets made in Denmark/Czech republic.

Cool sets!

If I didn't know better, I'd say this was from the 90s. They're probably loosely based off the first Advent Calenders, but with newer pieces.

Santa reminds me of alien from Alien versus Predator because he has that long head.

Is that set actually called 'Cool Santa'? :D

I love it.

Yahoo! I love christmas lego! I'm glad their starting to appear. Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the headsup Huw, I searched for those sets under the pirates title, but they must be somewhere else. I didn't know that they made sets in China now too. Does that mean that all preassembled minifig sets are MIC? I've never bought any, but was tempted by the tic tac toe, and some of the battle packs and magnet sets. Maybe I should stick to buying "proper" kits.

@BrianOg, it seems that such sets -- battle packs, magnets, chess sets, minifig collections etc. -- from 2008 onwards which feature pre-assembled figures have figures that are made in China and are of an inferior quality.

The giveaways are a no-so-shiny finish on the legs, sometimes a more visible mould seam down the side of the legs and arms that are not as stiff as on normal figs.

There's a thread about this at Classic Castle (http://www.classic-castle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17650) and the LEGO Complaining group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/lego_complaining/) at flickr has some photos comparing parts.

The Ambassadors have brought this up with LEGO who are looking into it, so things might improve.

@BrianOg -- Lego is really making a Pirates chess set? I hope it comes to the U.S.
