I'm back from my travels...

I'm back home now, having been on a 2 week cruise to Iceland, Faroe Islands and Norway. For much of the time I was without an internet connection, although in ports I could connect through my phone. Running a website can be pretty intense and take a lot of time from early in the morning until late at night so it was actually good to get away from it for a while.

It seems as if a number of exciting news stories broke whilst I was away, judging from the news updates here (and the 300+ emails I received :)) and I'd like to thank bluemoose, drdavewatford, yellowcastle, atkinsar, Matthew and new recruit LostInTranslation for keeping the site up to date in my absence.

Over the next few days I'll get back into the LEGO groove, plough through my inbox and report anything that hasn't been reported already here, and post a review of a new book Building A History: The LEGO Group by Sarah Harman that arrived whilst I was away. I might even post some Faroe Islands LEGO shopping news...

Welcome back to reality, @Huw! Just saw all of the new Star Wars sets except Desert Skiff and Palpatine's Arrest at TRU yesterday. Got the great Gandalf Arrives set there.

Always wondered how you could keep up what seemed sometimes like 24 hour work schedule, glad you got a well deserved break - excellent locations :D

Welcome back, Huw. We tried not to break the place while you were away.

Speaking of Palpatine's Arrest, here is why Toys R Us sucks:

They currently have a coupon for 20% off your entire purchase. Palpatine's Arrest is listed on their website at $89.99, so 20% off that would be another $18! Except that it's out of stock online.

So I go to my local brick-and-mortar TRU, and the set is $110. I ask the manager about the price difference, and he kindly offers to "match" the online price of $89.99. So far, so good...now I just need to give him my 20% off coupon. But then he says he can't match the online price AND accept the 20% coupon because that would be "double-dipping."

I'm sure it will magically be in-stock again online the moment that 20% coupon expires.

Few stores jerk their customers around like TRU. I am so tired of their inflated prices and constant shell game of coupons and sales.
