    4473: Police Helicopter
    City/Police, 2012
    More details...

An image of the upcoming City set 4473 has surfaced via the Argos.co.uk website, where  they have it wrongly uploaded as the photo for 7741. Personally, I think it's about time we had a new City Police Helicopter, 7741 has been on sale for 4 years now! Does anybody have any info on when we will see this released?  Thanks to kez in the forum for the news!

"OK Team...we've got all these extra parts laying around that no one wants on Pick A Brick. Design something using those unwanted pieces...and GO!"

Hmmm! Looks nice. Hope its a real set!

Posted by Kez in United Kingdom, 31 Jul 2012 17:43

^ it is a real set because it was listed on Argos.co.uk but as another set and also if you zoom in on the picture on the side of the helicopter there is the Lego sticker reading 4473

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 31 Jul 2012 17:56

It looks like an improvement over the current one, but still nothing really special here.

Posted by SilentMode in United Kingdom, 31 Jul 2012 17:57

It does look good!

Lol, I agree with copperwonder96. It looks a bit sloppy to my eye.

I'll buy it is the price per piece is right. Since oil is lower now this go around (about $88 vs. $110 when the Summer sets were announced), it should be close to the winter 2012 City sets (so about the same as the last set, $10/UK10).

I like the guy with the black sunglasses. His face is different from the cop in the collectible minifigures.

Would make for a mean traffic cop :D

Previous looked a lot better in my opinion, but it's a good thing for them to make a new one, the old one lasted a LONG time, time for a new type.

"about time we had a new City Police Helicopter"????

3658 was released in 2011!!!

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 31 Jul 2012 19:17

I really like the current one, to be honest. But I do like how this one is slightly larger, so you can fit a second person in the back.

Posted by UtarEmpire in United States, 31 Jul 2012 19:40

It doesn't look like it'd be able to land very nicely on top of 7498 without modification of one or the other.

I have had the feeling recently that LEGO is putting most of its design efforts into licensed themes and putting lack luster efforts into the non-licensed themes. The designs have seem lazy and without much thought with a few exceptions here and there. I hope they get their act together sooner rather than later...

I personally like the previous version. This looks like a late 90's aircraft. The angles just don't look sleek. Compare it to 6331, 6545, or 6462.

Posted by meyerc13 in United States, 31 Jul 2012 21:24

I think this looks interesting, but with two minifigs there is no way this is a $10 set. I'm guessing $20. There are some interesting pieces in the set like the airplane wheels and the 'hood scoop' piece, both of which are fairly uncommon. I wonder if there is a winch to go along with the grappling hook.

Posted by Zrath in United States, 31 Jul 2012 21:41

Two blades on the main rotor? Really? That's so 1960's. :)
Yeah, it's a little shabby and cheap-looking for a 2012 design.

It looks like they tried to remake 3658 using older pieces..hm. I despise the front mesh that they are using for every plane ever these days so im glad that they are using the same front technique as the 2008 one though, but im sure many don't.

Posted by Iron-Man in United States, 31 Jul 2012 22:02

Why is there a car motor on top of it?

Posted by The Brick Show in United States, 31 Jul 2012 22:26

ya, i agree with airways09, we had a better one just last year with 3658, why do this?

Posted by lostnewf26 in Canada, 31 Jul 2012 23:20

I like the fact that this seems to be a new Forest Police Helicopter, the one that came with 4440 was pretty lame. It's nice to see them change the idea of 7741, so that a second minifig can fit. Can't wait for this to be released.

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 01 Aug 2012 00:05

@meyerc13: The 2012 Patrol car sold for $12 ($10.97 at Walmart) and had 2 minifigs as well. With lower oil prices, I sense a $10, maybe $12 set, even with 110 pieces in it.

Posted by ETAV8R in United States, 01 Aug 2012 00:10

This would be neat if it were a continuation of the forest police theme, better if they made a cool radial engine sea plane instead. Something is gonna go in that bay, probably a stretcher.

Posted by disneywizard in United States, 01 Aug 2012 00:56

Isn't about time to come up with more variety versus police which is getting old. At least the new Forest fire and rescue aircraft was a nice change. Opportunities include sightseeing helicopters that could be done "Lego City Tours". More news helicopters could be done. Kit helicopters, gyrocopters, executive helicopters, red cross tie in for charity, power line repair.

Posted by QwertyLEGO in United States, 01 Aug 2012 01:10

This looks like the best Police helicopter, because its a nice size, does not look like it has too much pieces, so it wont be pricey. but LEGO will still probably make it $19.99...

Posted by ChicoCheco in Norway, 01 Aug 2012 02:13

It seems to me like the good old school design, but I dont thin I`ll buy it. Even though it seems like a lot of playbility fro the set of this size. The extra minifig and winch is great tough. However, I got enough of police helicopters for my lego City already.

Posted by mirandir in Sweden, 01 Aug 2012 03:10

Got a feeling that this some sort of special set. AFAIK there are no new city-releases left for this year and all sets next year seem to have five digit set numbers.

Posted by CamberbrickGreen in United Kingdom, 01 Aug 2012 03:43

With all these cops, how about a coffee & donut diner instead? Or a prison?

More hospital sets would have been best.

Posted by OuterRimTradingCo. in Australia, 01 Aug 2012 04:23

It's not on my radar. Most likely another police wave in 2013...

Posted by patch in United Kingdom, 01 Aug 2012 05:14

Looks to me like it was designed in ten minutes... City designs seem to be getting lazier... Still, might pick it up.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 01 Aug 2012 05:59

Looks more like a rescue heli than a police one... :P

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 01 Aug 2012 06:16

Huw I sent you a couple of emails about this a week ago, did you not get them?

Posted by Legozrool in United States, 01 Aug 2012 09:02

Looks cool to me but it will probably be $15-$20 :(

Posted by sharky in United States, 01 Aug 2012 09:14

I wonder if Lego has some kind of policy that guarantees that a customer will be able to walk into a Lego store and buy a police helicopter at any time, date, year, a customer wants one.

Posted by cinemajay in United States, 01 Aug 2012 10:19

This looks to me like a set from 10 years ago. I don't think I'll be picking it up, even to give as a gift to one of the nephews.

Posted by Namanbricks in United States, 01 Aug 2012 17:02

Another police helicopter? That's our 4 one yet!

Posted by beegeedee in Ireland, 02 Aug 2012 01:49

I thought there was an exclusive one you could get via S@H that use the moulded cockpit??
That looked like a good set.

Posted by Vortex in Pakistan, 02 Aug 2012 06:17

Vortex

I have yet to see a good helicopter model by lego ... however i thought the 4493 held promise and i was quiet impressed by the end result .. despite the fact that this is a city model ... i think this is good enough to almost qualify as a display set ... considering that this is a very healthy sized model and for the fifty dollar tag.. It's a winner
