    Kmart Australia has revealed details of its Bricktober promotion. The main prize is a trip for four to LEGOland California. The promotion will be running from  September 24 to October 29. Purchases of $20 or more of LEGO will be needed to enter. More details can be found on the registration page. They are also offering 200 bonus prizes over the five weeks of the promotion. More details on the terms and conditions page . The 200 bonus prizes will be divided four groups.

    • Group 1 Fifty Space Police K-9 Bot sets
    • Group 2 Fifty Red Brick key chains
    • Group 3 Fifty Indiana Jones key chains
    • Group 4 Fifty Darth Vader "limited edition metallic minifigs"

    Update Oct 6 2009: From the 8th - 14th October Kmart  has more Lego on special including the Technic Front End Loader 8265 for AU$99 and the Technic Lego crane truck 8258 (Only at Kmart) AU$199 R.R.P for this is AU$299

Wow, it's weird how Kmart decides to put 50 chrome black Darth Vaders in a group just like the other things that only cost $3.50 - $5 USD. They're worth at least $30 USD...

But to LEGO they all cost the same to produce. It's only market forces which inflate the price.

So like a big kid I ran out and bought some lego to enter :-). Competition is a rather awkward one in the sense that you will have to visit the store on 2 occasions to see if you have won a prize. You have to buy your Lego and enter your receipt number online and then you are given a pdf file with your code which appears in a Minifig torso and head you will have to print this out and take it back to Kmart and place it in the decoder in the Lego aisle at Kmart. (My Kmart hasn't received one yet)
If you have won a instant prize you will have to log back on and enter the code printed out at Kmart to claim the bonus prize. To enter for the trip to Legoland you will need 2 purchase receipt's. I couldn't see too many people going through all that to win a bonus prize, but as they say you gotta be in it to win it.

To explain to the non-Aussies, it's school holidays in some Australian states this week. That's why there are specials in K-mart and Big W. As for the competition procedure, that's almost (but not) as complicated as claiming the cash-back when you buy an Acer computer.

Hmm, previous post gone... anywho, I don't think it is really necessary to go back to the store to check to see if you are an instant winner. The words "YOU WIN" or "TRY AGAIN" appear in a big box in the middle of the torso, and it is fairly obvious what the result is if you sorta squint at the .PDF...

O.K so i tried the "squint" method and no luck. Has anyone come across the Lego decoder "instore" yet? . I have been to 4 Kmart's in W.A and not one has the decoder. The workers I have spoken with are surprised when I ask about the competition as well.
Has anyone won a prize yet?

Is it possible to enter in your pdf printout details onto the website to see if you have won without visiting a Kmart store? The decoder is probably just there to get you to go back to kmart...

@ clonetrooper. I think you may be right, after looking at the pdf printout I noticed the 8 digit claim number. I guess you can just enter the claim number in the instant win section and one would assume if it's not a winning number the instant win prize would be rejected.

I submitted my code and receipt number a couple of days ago, I received an empty email in reponse. I have no idea whether it was a winning code or not as like everyone else I'm yet to find a store with a decoder.

I'm 100% sure when I squinted I saw YOU WIN, but after watching me for several minutes squinitng, blinking fast and trying to find some pattern in the random dots, my wife is more certain it said I was a LOSER....

I haven't submitted my instant win code yet, So I'm not sure what happens after this is done. I'm hoping to submit it during the last week of the competition and win one of the Darth Vader's :-).
I managed to get hold of a decoder, it is just a piece of plastic with even more squares on it. Picture of the decoder can be seen here http://www.flickr.com/photos/36285227@N08/3970762876/

@MinifigHQ, Thanks, I went through with a pen and marked all the squares (slow day at the office) and did indeed win.

I was thinking about delaying claiming the prize also, but thought that they must know when you submit your receipt so they can allocate 1 of the 50 prizes for that week to you. But it could just be the first 50 claims for the week that receive prizes.

Well, I can officially say that it doesn't work with the first 50 claims received for each week.
I submitted a claim on the second day of launch and wasn't a winner..........
Maybe one day in the future.......

I won! when I entered in my claim number last week it sent me an empty email. This week I tried again using the same claim number and it sent me an email saying I had won.
