    3316: Friends Advent Calendar
    Friends, 2012

Back in May we reported that a Canadian retailer had been told that the Friends Advent calendar had been cancelled. Well, clearly that isn't entirely true since it's appearing in the US brand stores now. But it does seem to be in very short supply, and possibly 'cancelled' as far as normal retailers are concerned.

Sherasays found one in his/her local brand store: "Got the Friends Advent Calendar at the LEGO Store in Chandler Mall, AZ. Told they only have 18 and then that is it. "

Sawneboy also in the USA, rang LEGO to find out if it was to be available online, but was told it'll only be available in the brand stores, and also that the likes of Walmart and TRU won't be selling it.

I guess this suggests it is 'hard to find' in North America and you'll need to get to a brand store to buy one, sooner rather than later, to avoid disappointment on 1st December!

In Europe, its status is unknown but it is listed at Amazon.co.uk (£20), Amazon.de and Amazon.it (€20), with a release date of 1st September, so hopefully it'll be available through all normal retail channels.

Interesting to hear but doesn't affect me as I don't collect lego friends. There are some nice pieces included in this though, one being the brown "carrot leaf" part, used to great effect on that snowman - nice to see that after so many snowmen, lego are still finding ways to make each one different :)

Not sure how limited they will be in ROW but there are 92 available now and a total of 476 that are destined for South Africa

Amazon.de & Amazon.it are not € 15.- but they are € 19.99 to bad...

Yes, sorry, you're right...

My local toyshop (www.simpsonstoyshop.co.uk) says they'll stock the calendar once they get their order in.

Posted by maques in Hungary, 30 Aug 2012 05:56

Uhm, has anyone opened one?
Because the pictures seem controversary...
The "main-daylist" picture shows 24 individual "miniset", thats Ok. There are 2 minifigs.
However, the alternative images shows at least 5 different minifigs, not the mention the complete "Babe Arrives" set, where I am sure that the horse would find some trouble to fit into a day's box...

Posted by Legolijntje in Netherlands, 30 Aug 2012 07:18

It was also in the normal Lego Catalog from 2h2012 here in the Netherlands.

Posted by rmarkworth in Germany, 30 Aug 2012 07:25

PS: The release date (at least in germany) is 01.10.2012, not 01.09.2012

Posted by dino-girl in United Kingdom, 30 Aug 2012 07:31

It listed on the Argos website (uk) but not in stock yet

Posted by monkey_roo in United Kingdom, 30 Aug 2012 08:07

In the UK Play.com have for £20 pre-order but i got a notice today telling me the shipping date had slipped from the 1st Sept to the 14th Sept - Hope that isnt an early warning sign that they won't be able to fulfil the order...

When the news of the cancelation of the friends calendar came up I did ask a Lego rep if it was canceled here in Sweden too. He said that he hadn't heard anything and was going to check it up and I havent heard anything so I assume it still planned for release. He said that they were going to decrease the production of ninjago from around now so they would be able to meet the demands for friends towards christmas. And as the calendar has a later release here in europe (october) i guess that they count on being able to produce enough for it here in europe. And who knows, it might make a comeback overseas too. Even though it doesn't sound like it.

The newst lego catalogue in shops here in Finland lists Starwars (9509), City (4428), and Friends (3316) Calendars, with a nice picture of each, coming in October.. Bad news is the 25€ pricetag.

Was hoping all the advent calenders would be available for 1st Sept as i'll be stopping in at the brand store in Sheffield and could have tied up a few Christmas prezzies! Oh well, i'll find something to buy......

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 30 Aug 2012 11:24

^ I was told by an employee at the Stratford Lego store that the calendars would be available from 1st September, so you might be able to pick one up in Sheffield. I'm hoping to grab a Friends calendar on Saturday, along with a Haunted House (fingers crossed!) :-)

Here in Michigan our LEGO brand store is allready selling them...fellow MichLUG member picked me up a couple.

Just wen to the store. There are 240 sets at the Kansas store.

Posted by meyerc13 in United States, 30 Aug 2012 13:13

I was the person who originally posted about this at Toys n Bricks. At the LEGO Club Friends event last Saturday, the store manager announced that this was exclusive to Brand Stores, wouldn't be available at Shop@Home or any other retailers, and that they were getting a single shipment with no replenishment. That store's shipment was also right around 240 as I recall, so expect about 200-250 per store, and when they are gone you will not find it in the US.

Cute set. I like all the dog accessories. Does anyone know if the head holding the wig in the top-right corner is a new piece?

Posted by mirandir in Sweden, 30 Aug 2012 13:56

^I think it's a normal white minifig head.

Posted by herysusanto in United States, 30 Aug 2012 14:02

I just bought one from the Lego store in Austin, TX. I asked the sales associates and he said they will only received 1 shipment of the Friend advent calendar also.

Posted by LegoMyMamma in United States, 30 Aug 2012 14:17

Gosh, I hope to get one before they sell out!

Even with all the Friends' success: http://www.toynews-online.biz/news/36822/Lego-working-hard-to-meet-demand-for-Friends-toy-line

Wonky journalism still persists in misrepresenting the aspects of LEGO Friends, like this article: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/08/27/legos_not_for_girls/page2.html

The "whole wall" she refers to comes in no less than 71 (seventy-one!) other LEGO sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=59349&in=S -- yet she tries to claim girls are being short-changed on the building benefits. Seriously, when will people realize it's just another choice, and it's already gotten millions more girls building?

It's sort of getting old how these so-called "articles" fail to mention the Modular House or Inventor's Workshop. The author skims the line of libel/slander by saying TLG exec says LEGO only for boys (see page 1), as I highly doubt he actually said that!

Posted by dcoe in United States, 30 Aug 2012 14:17

Just ordered four from Arden Fair Sacramento, CA. $35 each. Get em while they are hot!

Posted by Modok in United States, 30 Aug 2012 16:57

@mirandir - Thanks. I had thought it was a new head with an attached neck, but after looking at it again, I see that it's just a regular white minifig head on a white cone.

Posted by Okay in United States, 30 Aug 2012 18:38

Well, I really wanted this set because of its parts, and $35 seems like a great price for it (especially compared to the ridiculously overpriced SW calendar), but now that I hear that it will be a very limited release, I think I'll pass. I already have several Friends sets, and knowing how popular this theme is, I'll be nice and let the kiddies have it. I employ everyone else who doesn't necessarily need to have this set to do the same so that many little girls have something to look forward to this December.

Posted by multiplex in Canada, 31 Aug 2012 10:32

For the Canadians who are interested, I called up my local LEGO store and they told me these were available but in very short supply. I was told there were only 1200 in total available across Canada so better get one while you can

Posted by RikTheVeggie in Canada, 01 Sep 2012 20:51

Sherway Gardens Toronto has sold out.

Posted by DougHnut in United States, 01 Sep 2012 21:08

I was in the Pleasanton, CA, USA LEGO store today and they said indeed limited, and only 2 per person. I ended up with 3 (my wife had to vouch for one) and like *Okay* mentioned above - they are going to 3 young girls (2 daughters and 1 cousin). I wouldn't wait to buy if you are going to want this come December 1st...

Posted by gunoz in United States, 02 Sep 2012 01:52

They were in stock at the Orlando LEGO store last night (8/31).

Posted by Dneul in Germany, 02 Sep 2012 09:32

The Kansas city store had about 40 total yesterday morning.

Posted by Daiku in United States, 02 Sep 2012 19:56

I bought 3 today, in TX, FWIW.

Posted by Delatron in United Kingdom, 03 Sep 2012 07:27

I got two at Sheffield before they sold out on Saturday, that's two happy neices, plus an uncle with some freebies too! Happy days.
