The Hobbit game now on the shelves

3920 on the shelves alreadydavetheoxygenman snapped this at his local TRU in the USA. It looks as if it has some nice pieces, but it's a bit pricey at $35. (He could have straightened the shelf before taking the picture, couldn't he :-) )

It contains four micro-figs: Gandalf the Grey, and dwarfs Kili, Fili and Dwalin.

Hopefully it won't be long now until the rest of The Hobbit sets hit the stores. LEGO has done a good job of keeping them under wraps, haven't they...

Update: bricklee tells us that The Hobbit sets will be revealed at NYCC on 11th October, which sounds plausible, but I do wish LEGO would give the existing AFOL community some love when it comes to this kind of thing, rather than revealing new sets, giving away cool stuff and so on at non-AFOL events...

That's the same price as the Hogwarts game was, and I'm guessing will be £24.99 in the UK (as Hogwarts and Battle of Hoth games were). Just odd that they slapped the Hobbit license onto a basic memory game rather than make something a bit more thematic (eg... a Quest...).

^ your right about the price, you can pre order it here for October for £24.99 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerms/LEGO+HOBBIT.htm

@Andhe: It certainly looks like a simple 'Pairs' type matching game, but then why does it have the microfigs? Are they just for decoration? The plot thickens...

This is actually one of my favorite LEGO games. You are trying to collect Dwarf tiles. Should you match two Hobbits tiles, you get to secretly look at a third tile. If you match two rune tiles, you get to try to find a Dwarf on a third tile. And if you match two bread tiles, you get to steal a Dwarf tile from another player.

The microfigs are moved from Hobbit hole to Hobbit hole by rolling a die. You get to look at the top tile at the Hobbit hole where your turn ends. There are two tiles stacked on top of each other in each Hobbit hole.

My complaint is that this "board" is the wonkiest board out of all the LEGO games that I own (which I own most). It's very difficult to move the board around without some section snapping apart from the rest. The board is also hinged, so the shape can be altered when the map is rolled on the die (therefore making it harder to remember where revealed tiles are located); it's a pretty neat addition to the Games world.

Fortunately, my wife is a coupon hoarder it seems. With are Toys R Us rewards flyer in August, we got a coupon for 20% off of a LEGO game that didn't expire until the end of September. I probably wouldn't have purchased this game until there was a sale without that coupon.

Remind me if that last sentence was sarcastic or not...

Looks nice, I will be picking it up as long as it is under £30 in the UK when it is released, I still need to find some Collectable Minifigures first however, my local Tesco does not have them!

Oh, the irony of that last sentence...

No pictures of upcoming sets. Many "Tile, Modified 2 x 2 Inverted" in tan and they are decorated with different designs.

^The instruction book does show the Thorin and Nori minifigs though (on the back I think) which haven't been seen yet. But I'm sure all will be revealed soon enough.

Is it normal that I've already found that in Italy??
