This just makes me want to get the set even more! So excited to get this and the other Hobbit sets! I love the detail in all the Middle Earth lego sets. It's been one of the best themes ever!

This is the only set from the Hobbit line I have any interest in so far.

Wow! I neeeeeed this set!! still no price though...

i like this set, but it would be nice if it wasn't the brown 'wood effect' stickers as they have had the printed elements of this kind before in other sets. the one on the far right in the video was put on in a rush as it isn't straight and it starting to peel off...

I think this model looks wonderful, the Minifigures are really excellent and it is good to see such an iconic location effectively and accurately recreated. It is just a shame that some of the other models look a bit inferior compared to it.

What makes this set so nice is that there is no conflict going on! You would have thought LEGO would have thrown in some ridiculous little Orc flick-fire catapult thing, but they made the perfect decision not to :)

Lovely set, £50?

Easily the pick of the bunch for the new hobbit sets.

The delivery of the video was very dry though! lol

Were the wood stickers prelim? Or is that what will actually be in the set? As don't printed plank tiles already exist.
It's a really nice set, especially for play/display and they have put a lot of thought and detail into it.

As for the price, it was written somewhere $69.99, which judging by current Lego price points may translate to £50-60? (which sucks, considering $70 is about £45...).

Just cannot WAIT for the ring plate!! Shame it's in a hideous colour.

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 12 Oct 2012 11:22

^ a hideous colour?! that's my favourite lego colour...

Posted by goldfish in United Kingdom, 12 Oct 2012 14:45

^ is that the dull orange nougat type colour? If so I also love this colour! so rare!!

Haven't purchased any of the Hobbit sets thus far... This one changes that!
@George G.... I agree with you! So nice to not have every single set about "war"!
And cool new round plates! Love it!

This is definitely a must-have set from the Hobbit line. Those dwarves look great.

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 13 Oct 2012 02:47

@ goldfish - yeah, that colour. I can't get enough of it :p

Posted by Brickman193 in Australia, 14 Oct 2012 00:36

Has two of the three Dwarves I want in my collection - Dwalin and Balin. Just need Thorin in the Warg set...

Bag End looks great but the rest are too much like disjointed, messy playsets for me.

Posted by jimmer in United States, 16 Oct 2012 01:20

I agree ^, this one seems the most complete, as the others are less about the lego and more about 'how can I make this thing shoot or fire'

I just hope that these sets continue to keep the lord of the rings line around for a long time... I dream of the day when UCS Lord of the Rings may come out; with elaborate minas tirith or the golden hall of edoras, built to sublime perfection... I'll keep dreaming

The story with Hobbit/LOTR sets will be the same like with POTC sets or Indiana Jones sets. After the boom about the new Hobbit movie will be over, the sets will disappear. The initial 7 LOTR sets were created I feel only to tune up the marked for upcoming merchandise with Hobbit.

Still I like those, but I like Castles also and castles will be now a bit forgotten
