Rich over at BrickFanatics has reported there and in the forum that The Sun promotion, that we've all been eagerly awaiting, will start on 27th October.

The list of sets is allegedly as per the list below, which has also been made into a Bricklist by atkinsar.

30163: Thor and the Cosmic cube
    30165: Hawkeye with equipment
    30162: Quinjet
    30017: City Police Boat
    30200: Zombie chauffeur coffin car
    30152: City Mining Quad
    30085: Ninjago Jumping Snakes
30210: Lord of the Rings Frodo with cooking corner
30211: Lord of the Rings Uruk Hai with ballista

That looks to be entirely plausible, and more so than the previous list that surfaced on a non-LEGO site a while ago.

There's some really great sets in the list and I think I'm right in saying that Quinjet hasn't appeared anywhere else yet, so that is definitely one to look out for. In fact, none of them have appeared in the UK before, so we'll all need to be traipsing down to WHS to do battle with the grannies and scalpers every day :-)

list is brilliant ! can't wait already !

Posted by Psymon in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 08:42

Little disappointed the Ghost and clock isn't available, but a nice line up non the less.

Posted by akealey in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 08:49

In my humble opinion they're much better sets than the previous alleged list. I'm pleased to see the LOTR and Super Heroes ones in particular have made the list. I'll definately be getting them all if I can.

Posted by Mr Hobbles in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 09:01

I need at least 10-15 of those Quin-Jet's for what I have in mind. :)

Posted by Plasmodium in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 09:16

Really don't want to buy the Sun, but...those LotR sets...moral dilemma beginning!

Posted by TheCahleySlash in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 09:32

Great timing The Sun, have a Lego promotion just before Halloween, over the School Half term and 2 weeks after the release of The Avengers on DVD/Blu Ray!
Crafty folks! XD

Posted by ickleb in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 09:33

@ Plasmodium i so agree, i hate buying the sun for Lego, if only they would go to a better publication!! but again I will be getting the sets and putting the paper straight to the recycling!!

Posted by Bricktofen in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 09:33

Hm I would like lots of Zombies how many is the max per person WHSmiths would allow one person to take :p?

Posted by robbiew in Hong Kong, 15 Oct 2012 09:40

^depends on your local store. This list looks a little too good to be true, though I hope it is. No creator sets is very unusual.

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 09:46

Great list... but no Friends?? :-( Why haven't any of the Friends polys been available at all in the UK??

Also @Huw: scaplers -> scalpers ;-)

Posted by robnwcc in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 09:53

@LostInTranslation .... hope u can help a brother out ????

Posted by julian977 in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 09:59

haha, I wonder how that guy (you know, the one that sold 100's of polys in one massive lot) on ebay is going to fulfil all the orders he has already taken for the ghost poly? :D

Posted by PocasNuckie in Portugal, 15 Oct 2012 10:39

No SW? :'(

Posted by Gregorovich in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 11:08

Very excited for these! I'll definitely be trying to get the Thor, Hawkeye and Frodo sets for the hairpieces. If I miss out I'll be gutted.

Posted by Ultimate Brickmaster in Ireland, 15 Oct 2012 12:23

The Thor and Uruk-Hai ones are very tempting, hopefully they're available on the weekends.

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 12:32

Since I just won't spend £50 to get Thor, I'll have to get up early on that Saturday and get on my bike. Is it wrong I'm apprehensive over a minifig? xD

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 12:45

^ That's completely wrong. You should be camping outside the shop like everyone else :P

As for the list, it looks great. I've been waiting for an opportunity to get the Marvel polybags.

Posted by blounty23 in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 12:52

When does this start? @plasmodium and @ickleb I totally agree, I would never begin to buy the Sun, n
But I really want the Lego.

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 12:59

^ "Rich over at BrickFanatics has reported there and in the forum that The Sun promotion, that we've all been eagerly awaiting, will start on 27th October."

Reading helps. Huw has even put it in bold for you ;)

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 13:16

I like the look of this list, however it is going to be difficult not too buy too many Uruk-Hai with Ballista polybags I imagine! Those three Super Heroes ones all sound excellent. As for the rest, those are just good to add to the collection, but a couple of Star Wars models would have been nice.

Posted by Noahs-Dad in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 14:40

I would have expected at least 2 Monsters sets here given the time of year. The previously rumoured Xmas Tree and Snowman sets would not have been unwelcome either with Xmas fast approaching and this years advent calendar being pants. I reckon there has been plenty Star Wars sets in the last few rounds of Sun promo freebies. More Batman would have been nice.

Can't please everyone I guess, I suppose we (I included) shouldn't really moan, it is good value for the cost of a paper :)

Posted by CDC in Slovenia, 15 Oct 2012 14:49

when does this promotion end ?

Posted by minifignick in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 14:57

Will try and get up early to get Thor and maybe the Zombie The other's not too bothered about as I already have the minifig's As for the "newspaper" I'll use it to line my kitten's litter tray

Posted by Nadana86 in Germany, 15 Oct 2012 15:00

Sorry in case I sound stupid!

I'm from Germany and even though I guess I could pick up a Sun, there will probably be no promo. But I have a colleague in the UK that often comes for meetings. If I ask her, will she have a chance to get the promo? Do you just get one by buying the paper? Can you chose which one? Can you usually get multiple?

If I ask her, she will probably not be willing stand in line for a Lego polybag so I need to know it's easy before I ask her ;-)

Posted by Adwil24 in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 15:20

As it says in the original story over on Brickfanatics, the promotion runs from Saturday Oct 27th to Sunday November 4th and will be available at all WHSmith High Street stores (so not at train stations, hospitals, airports, service stations etc) during the last promotion I noticed the in-store POS stated a limit of 5 per person, so expect that to be the case this time too.

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 15:30

^^ You buy the paper and are given the polybag/they cross out the coupon. It's a different promotion each day so you don't get to choose.

Posted by Nadana86 in Germany, 15 Oct 2012 15:36

Thanks and sorry for not first reading the source. I hope she has a WHSmith closeby and that there will not be massive amount of people there.

Posted by Mcotter in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 16:05

They might do what they did in the past, which was to add 2 more models to the list (as it was so popular). So then you might get the ghost polybag, or it maybe the Christmas tree with Snowman polybag.

Posted by CamberbrickGreen in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 16:31

Oh god, its that time again! I'm taking a hood to hide my shame in battling for The Sun newspaper. Going to need a sword, if the list is really this amazing and 2x LOTR at the end?! Better get some armour too. Got to feel sorry for those WH Smiths staff :)

anyone taking request?? this american has plenty to trade. Im interested in the Superhero Polys. just need one of each. PM me if you are willing to help out.

Posted by King J in United States, 15 Oct 2012 17:52

This may sound ridiculous, but is there any way to get The Sun to send to the U.S.? Any American tried this before?

Posted by n3y0 in United States, 15 Oct 2012 19:38

Don't buy The Sun

Posted by Zander in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2012 20:15

@Adwil24, There was no limit at any of the WHS stores I went to in London in the previous Sun and Mirror offers.

@King J, Not that I know of. Best thing to do is buy from or trade with someone in the UK.

Posted by whaleyland in United States, 16 Oct 2012 03:03

Just found 30200: Zombie chauffeur coffin car at my Toys R Us today (Santa Cruz, CA). Was happily surprised. Usual markup to $5.49 for a copy.

Posted by Adwil24 in United Kingdom, 16 Oct 2012 06:22

@Zander there hasn't been a limit until the last giveaway, small printed stated a limit of 5 per customer this was also at the managers discretion.

Posted by roxio in United Kingdom, 16 Oct 2012 10:16

@ Mcotter, don't think there will be any additions, there are already 9 on this list. Previous promotions had 7 advertised and 2 further added part way through

Posted by Delatron in United Kingdom, 16 Oct 2012 10:48

I do like the nonsense moralising "Oh I want the Lego but i can't be seen buying the Sun, i'd best wear a mask!" I know it's a rubbish paper and the phone hacking stuff and all but Pffft - you'll be there in the queue with the rest of us. I'll be the one reading the sport and page 3 :)

It's a good list but it will be bedlam to get them over half-term holidays - the granny army will have their grandkids in attendance for back-up. I recall Rich's article saying he couldn't confirm the order of the sets so I'm hoping it's as listed as that would put the Avengers and LOTR bags at the weekends. Just need to find a way to get the coffin car too....

Posted by The Lego Train Station in United Kingdom, 16 Oct 2012 15:15

The only sets here I will be trying to get are the city ones (now everybody hates me!). I'm quite upset (well, annoyed would be a better term) that they're in the half term because with the ones in May, while coming home from school I could just get of at the bus station, wonder down to smiths and get my LEGO and catch another bus home. I get the 5. What town do I live in? I still haven't built them because I need to animate the builds. Check out my profile for my Youtube channel for stuff I have built/animated. Now I'm going have to wonder all they way into town for two days and all the way back to get them. So much effort. Why so much effort??? As with buying the Sun (you lot imagine horror music), it is just a paper right? And stuff. Ran out of things to say. Bye.

Posted by gifinim in United Kingdom, 16 Oct 2012 19:04

No ghost? NO GHOST????

Bah!

Posted by crisscross in United Kingdom, 17 Oct 2012 06:59

Guess the guy who is pre selling the lego promotion on e-bay got it wrong (item no:160893873933), I hate people like this, my 5 year old really wants this set but I ca't pay that price!!!

My lad will just have to settle for what is in the promotion.

He loves this site and so do I as it keeps us busy for hours searching through the kits!!!!

Thanks

Posted by Zander in United Kingdom, 17 Oct 2012 08:26

@Delatron, You're right. But the good news is that The Sun will know perfectly well that the surge in sales will be because of the LEGO and not anything to do with the paper.

If anyone's conscience is troubled about buying The Sun, take comfort in the knowledge that this promotion benefits LEGO at least as much. It may seem counterintuitive that TLG gains by giving their products away, but my guess is that it's hugely effective marketing. I imagine that the extra Christmas sales of LEGO for kids who received promo sets with The Sun will more than make up for the cost to TLG.

Posted by denziloshamen in United Kingdom, 17 Oct 2012 08:38

If you want a ghost but don't want to pay ebay prices for a poly bag, then you can at least get the halloween set for £9.99 from the lego site. The set also comes with a witch, zombie, grave stone and a few spiders and snakes.

Much better than just buying a ghost on it's own from some scalper scum bag off ebay.

Posted by The_Creator in United States, 17 Oct 2012 20:08

Do you think TRU will get them sometime?

Posted by CzechMate in Australia, 18 Oct 2012 03:38

I wish they put in 30201, but it's not like I live in the UK, but I'll get someone to get me one when the offer for 30200 in on.

Posted by J1A3L5 in Canada, 18 Oct 2012 11:30

Hi -

Can someone explain to me how this promotion works? You receive the set when you buy the paper, or you have to buy it and then turn in a coupon?

Thanks!
