Friends Brickmaster book out now

Friends BrickmasterMeet Chloe (left), Mia's friend from school. Chloe's not in the girls' club, but she's always welcome at club meetings!

Chloe is an exclusive Friends character that is only available with the new Friends Brickmaster book, that has been published by Dorling Kindersley, and sub-titled "Treasure Hunt in Heartlake City".

It follows the format of all the other Brickmasters, which is a good thing. It comes with 103 parts and the two mini-dolls. There are instructions for five different models, including the chair and window illustrated. The models follow the plot of a story: finding a map, building a raft, setting sail, discovering treasure, getting home and having a nice cup of tea :-)

Luis over at Comunidade 0937 has posted a review in Portuguese and photos on the club's website (translated through Google). He's not too impressed with it, although I do agree with him that the parts are a bit of a mix of colours resulting in BOLOCs models.

Nevertheless I think it will hit the spot with the target audience and if you have someone in it to buy a gift for at Christmas time, it will be well received and provide hours of entertainment, more so than an equivalently priced normal Friends set would.

    It can be ordered from Amazon.com ($20) | Amazon.co.uk (£9.50) | Amazon.de (€23) | Amazon.fr (€23.50).

I preordered this for my daughter and she just loves it. The pieces are excellent and she enjoys reading the book

Saw this in a Barnes and Noble store on Saturday. Decided to hold off and glad I did since the Amazon price is 2/3 what the B&N price was in the store. This will be a great Christmas present for my daughter. She'll love that she finally has a Brickmaster book (her brother has a whole shelf full already).

Bought this for my daughter for christmas. Found it at Tesco where it was £9.50. i saw it again a few hours later at Waterstones wher it was full price.

I picked one up in Tesco today for £9.46. There are some great coloured pieces in here, and the book itself is probably the best of the Brickmasters (we have them all in our House)
Tesco also had lots of new book sets - Including the Star Wars Character Enclycopedia and Visual Dictionary, small size with Han and Luke Ceremonial for £7.46. Absolute bargain!

It's been out for a little while, I saw it at an Australian department store weeks ago.

That said, I flicked through it, and it looks pretty good. I liked the colours.

I suspected Chloe was unique and liked the assortment of parts, so with the opportunity to get it for $20 at NY Comic Con on Sunday afternoon when I finally found the DK booth I scooped it up... not a shabby little parts pack, and after the success of the Imperial Friendstroopers diorama at the I LUG NY Lego fan display booth I don't think I'll ever have enough Friends mini-dolls =-D

Got a look at the Ninjago Character Encyclopedia too, didn't steal the Green Ninja, I promise (I may have begged them for it though =-)

The people at DK were super nice, i just wish I'd known earlier so they would have had a chance to come see our booth, or have realized that they had some Lego book authors there signing, as that would have probably interested a few of our members.

I flipped through this book at Barnes & Noble the other day. Very neat. I love the way that instead of simply being a set of separate scenarios like most of the Brickmaster books I've seen, it tells a cohesive story. I also love how it is formatted like an adventure scrapbook, with suggestions throughout for other things you can attempt to build with the parts.

Friends is terrible. I'm hoping Lego will end this disgrace soon. This book doesn't look any good either.

This book is currently at BJs wholesale for 19.99. As are loads of other brickmaster and Lego books including castle and pirates.
