Awesome, should fill a few gaps in my city collection...pity i bought 4 tractors from the US a month ago, worrying we wouldnt get it here...its an awesome wee set...only the fact its 'free' will make up for the fact i really had to overpay for the ones i already have ...doh!! They dont al look stunning sets, but there are some good parts, so even if you are not a collector they are worth getting!

thats weird i am sitting in edinburgh and it thinks i am in germany - is that because i am on O2 3G?

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, Oct 22 2009 9:12AM:

Lucky British. I am also interested in the little tractor(and I tried to make it with my bricks, but failed(couldn't find any of the front wheels)). Canadian Toys-R-us stores are having a sale, to celebrate there 25th Birthday. 20% off Power Miners, Racer Items, and Technic items. But I don't know when the sale ends.

Are there any US exclusives that anyone in the UK would want to trade? We could work something out ;)

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, Oct 22 2009 12:02PM:

The Tractor looks great. My Half-Term holiday starts this weekend, so I can get that easily.
The others look good as well.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, Oct 22 2009 12:21PM:

@simonskluk, The site uses MaxMind's GeoIP database for determining your location so maybe there's an anomaly with your 3G ISP. I have a similar problem at work, Amazon and other sites think we are in Germany and serve us German ads.

I can't wait for the dinosaur as it looks the biggest of the lot. any ideas whether you have to pick them up from toysrus or WHSmith or anywhere else this time?

Posted by Russell844 in United States, Oct 22 2009 3:36PM:

I'd love to get the fire car and the tractor. Anyone in the UK want to help out a USA boy?

Posted by simonskluk in N/A, Oct 22 2009 3:38PM:

Hey 'i like lego' - there are a few guys on Bricklink in the usa who can sell you the tractor if you want it - i would recommend the set - am i allowed to advertise them on here Huw? - Thanks for the info on the 3G, funny how it all 'works' but doesnt always work! as it were...

The helicopter is 7799

Posted by voyanui8768 in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 2:00AM:

I like the tractor, the police quad bike (woo), the helicopter and the racer (i think it's another car you could add to the desert challenge set)

Posted by voyanui8768 in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 2:06AM:

I just looked at the bricklist and what i thought was a go-cart was actually a docters car. Also, i looked at the jeep and it looks really cool!!!

Posted by legoman64 in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 3:28AM:

i cant wait till tomorrow yay

Posted by PaulC in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 5:57AM:

WHSmiths are definitely one of the locations to pick up the sets, as the WHSmiths at my local train station have already had delivery of the sets for the first 7 days. This is fantastic as I can pick my sets on the way to work in the morning and build on the train! :)

Posted by blackpoolbrick in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 6:22AM:

Thursday 29th Oct model is 7799-1: Cargo Copter
Sunday Nov 1st model is 5625-1: Police 4x4
Monday Nov 2nd model is 7798-1: Stegosaurus
Tuesday Nov 3rd model is 7800-1: Off Road Racer

I'm excited! And I must be more organised with my tokens ;/

With the Star Wars giveaway, did anyone order multiple sets to the same address? Was it successful? I spread mine around friends and family to be safe, but it was a hassle I'd prefer to avoid.

And for those who have previously complained that we Brits get everything... well these really aren't free. You have to buy the newspaper for each model (which involves getting to a newsagent, finding them because they sell out more quickly, and suffering the looks of the cashier as you buy multiple copies) and then you have to decide between daily collections (risk of missing out when they run out or you fail to get to a shop) or the cost of having the sets sent to you. The Star Wars sets probably cost me something like £2 each, and its great, but its not free and it takes effort, so now maybe BL doesn't look such a bad option to some.

Posted by Teflon70 in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 7:07AM:

I ordered three star wars sets and two for the previous giveaway, all to the same address, with no porblems.

I guess that so long as the money is there and you have the correct number of tokens, then it is all okay.

I just hope that they will give away the sets without taking the tokens from the paper - Thats how I managed to get three star wars sets (with a little help from my mum!!!).

Have fun collecting.

Posted by collect-that! in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 1:02PM:

I still haven't recieved my Star Wars sets through the post either!! Luckily I have a set I collected! I can only imagine how many applications they received!!!!

I have bought the mini-tractor already off e-bay because it looked cool (overpriced though) but I guess that can be added now to my City Layout!! The roller will also be a nice touch, not so sure about that Doctors car/Go-kart!

Posted by BrianOg in France, Oct 23 2009 2:38PM:

I reviewed that tractor on here. Its a beaut, especially when its free as it was for me - at Paris Lego shop. Looks more like a deluxe mower than a tractor though. Nice tan fedora with it too.

Posted by Nitwit180 in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 3:23PM:

Yeah!!

Posted by lego_here in United Kingdom, Oct 23 2009 3:24PM:

The jeep looks almost in mini figure size!!!!The tractor looks cool!!!!Cant wait until they're out tomorrow!!!

Posted by ET in United States, Oct 24 2009 1:30AM:

Man, I want that tan fedora hat! My sister always goes around wearing one of those, so I need one for her minifig!

And WHY doesn't the US get stuff in our newspapers??? It makes me sad, no free Lego...

Posted by broxi in United Kingdom, Oct 24 2009 4:27AM:

got mine today, from mccolls the newsagents.....only took two, dont want to be greedy

Posted by Ultimate Brickmaster in N/A, Oct 24 2009 9:30AM:

Is the promotion in Ireland again?

Posted by absolutelylez in United Kingdom, Oct 24 2009 11:51AM:

Well I've gotten the first set from WHS - the Fire engine. While the set as a set is really good, there seems to be a reduction in the quality of the pieces; various minor blemishes, the pieces don't feel rounded off. Some of the pieces are slightly different in shape, like the "tap" piece which is lacking the little whole in the spout. And wost of all, the tires are quite jagged.

Now maybe this is just mine, but I get the feeling that promotional sets have generally lower quality pieces. Why might this be? I'd have thought that it's important to maintain quality in promotions..

Posted by broxi in United Kingdom, Oct 24 2009 12:14PM:

^^^^ are the pieces perhaps ones that dont make it thru quality control ie not sellable but can then be given away, ie promotions....just a thought

Posted by simonskluk in N/A, Oct 24 2009 12:17PM:

phew that was close...i was busy all day so went out first thing to get a few of the free sets, then realised they had given me tommorrows Medic car by accident, so just rushed out now and got the fire engine, saves me the cost difference on a sunday paper! have built it...now time for the review

Posted by xowainx in Poland, Oct 25 2009 4:32AM:

To the people worrying about the Star Wars sets: Mine only came on Wednesday, and my cheques hadn't been banked either, so i'd imagine your sets will be along soon, although the postal strikes won't help that. Don't give up hope yet!

Posted by Ultimate Brickmaster in N/A, Oct 25 2009 12:36PM:

Nevermind they are in Ireland. Can't wait my hands on the tractor!

Posted by simonskluk in N/A, Oct 26 2009 9:57AM:

thanks for that xowainx, got a few of the tractors today, love em, think i will use some of the green parts to update some old 80's diggers and tractors, thinking that a green JCB/backhoe would be cool...now what other green bits do i need...should i confess that i went to 4 different shops and got 18 tractors...obsessed i think! a great way of getting a lot of parts very cheap!
