After the flurry of excitement following the discovery of year 2010 set images and news of the Daily Mirror promotion in the UK, its been a slow week for news... What's more, I bought a new PC the day Windows 7 came out and I've been having a bit of grief with it, with USB devices. I don't think it's a Windows 7 problem per se but I can't get to the bottom of it. I've just done a system recovery to see if starting from scratch will help. Consequently I'm without my usual suite of programs for email, website development and so on. Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon!
One potentially interesting piece of news this week, which I'm going to have to try and remember the exact details of because I don't have the email to hand, is that someone emailed to say they think they saw the new Star Wars battle packs in Target in Florida, I think it was. If that were the case I'm sure it would be splashed about all over the 'net but I can't see mention of it anywhere else. Can anyone confirm it?
Too bad about the Windows 7 problems, I'm LOVING the OS! I hope the problems will be resolved soon! BTW, what's your problem with the USB devices? I may help; I've got the Release Candidate since May!
My user was "tlego98". He doesn't come on too often, but he's my friend in real life. He told me that 8083 and 8084, the new battle packs, were at Target.I truthfully haven't been to Target in a while, but I believe him.
Ur... Is it just me or his Brickset acting REALLY strange on the database side? I was browsing the City Fire sets, but the website keeps taking me to a completely different database site after five seconds or so. Anyone else having this problem. Anyway, I don't know about Target-but in my local toy store I found a reaaaally weird fire set. It wasn't very big, but larger than an impulse set. It had a small car with some kind of trailer with equipment on it.
Hey Huw, I typed in "New Lego Star Wars Battle Packs" on google images, and there were some very blurry pictures, they both look like hoth battles.
I have a feeling that the the news about finding the battle packs in Florida would be fake, since, as you said, if it was true there would be tons of pics and it would almost certainly be on sites like Eurobricks and FBTB, both of which I frequently check.
@ I didn't see any battle packs in my Target, but when I was down in Legoland they had a really cool poster advertising Atlantis...
@ ET hold on its not even 2010 or November/December, what is Lego thinking?
Having worked as a truck unloader/stocker at Target with quite a few brain-dead coworkers it would not be surprising at all if someone put something on the shelf early like the battle packs. I might be tempted to do it on purpose so I could buy some

The person who posted the images infers he got the set from a Toys-R-Us in the US, probably in or near Massachusetts.
thanks
Interesting that they put Zev Senesca in the battlepack for the Rebels...obviously I'm not complaining but he was a snowspeeder pilot for Rogue Squadron! Is this after he was shot down or something? Oh well it'll still be a sweet figure...is it just me or do the TIE Defender and ARC-130 have an extremely low amount of pieces? I've heard the ARC-130 listed at $60 USD which would be quite ridiculous. But hey they definately look like nice sets so we'll see.
Thery have Zev? Sweet! He's one of my Top 5 facvrite Rouge Squadron pilots, after Wedge, tycho, Jansen and Corran. So, they;ve made a NEW tie fighter pilot? odd, this one's just fine, excewpt you can't see the eyes. I can't wait to get the battle packs though.
