I suspect it will need tweaking slightly to adjust the Amazon alerts, so I've subscribed myself and will attend to it once the emails start to come through.

Do you think it should include the Amazon alerts, or not?

I don't think they should Huw because it could qiuckly take up a lot of space on peoples email.

^agreed. I'm sure a lot of people have their own amazon alerts set up for this purpose anyway.

Nice one Huw.

^
Personally I think amazon would be useful.
I get about 5000 emails a day, they just get auto-funelled into different folders.
Works well for a lot of things, although I do admit its a rather 1990s way of doing things :)

I don't think the default should include them, but there should be an option for those that do want them to be included. :)

Yes, an option to include the alerts would be nice.

Agreed, I don't think Amazon alerts should be included in the default config.

Sounds cool, but i think i'll stick to coming here. (:

Interesting idea, but I'll cast my vote in on the "no Amazon alerts" side.

@Si_Dorking_Surrey 5000 emails a day?! That's a lot xD

I think the email idea is really cool, although I think it's not necessary to send Amazon offers as it might be a bit too much :P

I believe you'll get a daily digest, not individual emails, which will include the Amazon.com alerts as shown in

Thanks Huw for incorporating this new feature that I suggested into the best LEGO fan and database site ever! I have just subscribed!

Thanks again! :)

i dont think u should put in the amazon alerts, because theres too many and their pretty much useless to me

Posted by Yago in Spain, 25 Oct 2012 15:30

i think not.. or you would add all geographies in the mail?

Posted by yodaman5556 in New Zealand, 25 Oct 2012 20:03

BTW, I think that there should: 1.) be an option that users/subscribers can tick to enable Amazon alerts to be included in their email that FeedBurner sends ...or... 2.) if you can't do 1. then just don't include them. I never need to use Amazon -because it is wayy to expensive (I buy my books from The Book Depositary UK) and there isn't a NZ Amazon. I don't really mind what happens....really... :)

@Huw, for our convenience, getting news article in the mailbox is good. However for website owner, you will / may see a drop in the visit count to the site, especially if the Amazon alerts are also sent by email. Thus IMHO, do not send Amazon alerts. :)

I vote for the option. I do not want them, but they are people who will. The mails will probably cause a drop on the site visitors. As, like me, read the news on the site and then on mail. They will come to the site but nor for news any more, only to comment and look for sets. Good idea though. I do not care if I have to check the site for news.

personally, I prefer not having amazon notices; you don't get much discounts in indonesia.

Posted by gfones in United States, 28 Oct 2012 08:52

skip the amazon, too many venders with sales and discounts.

you should add a feature like on the shop.lego.com wishlist where you can put nice to have, want to have, or need to have!
