For some unknown reason, this year's Star Wars calendar was vastly overpriced in the USA and Canada, which was unusual given that it's normally Europe that has to pay a premium for Star Wars sets.

Faced with the prospect of a warehouse full of them come December (I suspect), LEGO has reduced the price by 20%, which makes it a more reasonable $39.99 in USA and Canada, and now just about on par with Europe's price of £25 / €30.

If you haven't ordered already, now's a good time to do so: USA | Canada.

Even at $40 its still over priced. Glad I didn't buy mine from Lego, but bought it last week when it was on sale for the same price at TRU. I should have waited cause last year after Christmas there were still some left and TRU sold them for 50% off.

My guess is that TLG uses price optimisation software and it's saying that the new price is the highest it can be while having the right amount of stock up to, but not beyond, Christmas. If it doesn't sell sufficiently in the next few weeks, the price will come down further. Of course, if it sells too quickly, the software will recommend a price increase. I don't know if TLG would really follow that guidance.

They were $50 in Canada last year too, before they went on sale. A complete rip-off, for sure. Even at $40 they're overpriced (as shaase said); I think $25-$30 would be appropriate given the contents and piece count.

Interesting that the Canada and US price is the same, that's a rarity for sure.

Hopefully they'll be greatly marked down after the holidays like last year! I want the R2-D2 snowman and Saint Maul, just not for $40 -$50..!

Maybe Lego will know price to demand and get it right for 2013. I call $35 with about 265 pieces.

Dang. I just recieved my sons in the mail a couple days ago. It would be nice if they would rebate the price. At least I got double VIP points.

You mean the SW advent calendars haven't ALL been vastly overpriced?

Remember when the City calendar was 15$? That was only about 5-6 years ago.
