The zombies are coming!

30200 Coffin CarAppropriately for Halloween, we have a Monster Fighters set free with today's Sun.

30200 Coffin Car features a bizarre vehicle made from a coffin and a zombie chauffeur. The zombie is quite nice but it's the same one that's available in three other sets so you probably have him already. There are not too many useful parts in the set, as most of its bulk is taken up by the coffin, which isn't particularly reusable.

The set has been available at LEGOLAND Discovery Centers in the USA, but I think this is its first appearance in Europe.

It's definitely worth getting out of bed and down to WHS for, although I, like many, would have preferred 30201, the ghost. After all, a couple of zombie chauffeurs is enough for anybody, but you can never have enough glow-in-the-dark ghosts :)

After you buy the Sun, do you read a bit of it, or do you throw it away immediately? :P

good job we have the chauffeurs .. as the ghost would be no use to drive the car as they don`t have hands

You can never have enough Zombies lol

Does anyone else think that the image on the front of the polybag shows a chrome highlighted grill? Or is my eyesight getting poorer?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 31 Oct 2012 07:12

^^ Agreed, but not all in the same outfit!

^^^^ Take it home, read every page, and believe every word of it.

This is a great set, I was fortunate enough to find the last one leftover from Bricktober at TRU for sale on Monday. You can never have too many zombies, especially for Halloween.

I got ten of these this morning as my son has been making a Lego graveyard for halloween.

Ten chauffers might not be that great, but don't forget you can take the head off and turn every lego mini figure you have into a zombie by swapping them about.

You can still get the Lego Halloween set for £9.99, which comes with a different zombie, a glow in the dark ghost, a witch and gravestone and various creepy crawlies.

I think I might have to make my own zombie scene once the children have gone to bed!!

I thought the car was really rubbish. A coffin with no lid is fairly useless for other models. It's a bit like a boat shell. If you're not using it for the intended purpose, what else can you do with it?

But of course this one is all about the minifig. I'd prefer two grey hands for pulling off so that heads match the hands. Still at 40p for a zombie head, it cannot be bad.

40p for this great! only just really started my collection and to be honest it will mainly be Star Wars, LOTR and Marvel stuff but thought this was quite cool.

for those of you 'close' the Toys R Us in Sheffield (Meadowhall retail park) has loads of toys left including Sat / Sun

The car is a fun little set, and the grill looks eminently reuseable. Since prior to this the only zombie I had was the CMW series 1 version, an alternate head is very welcome!

Sorry, Huw, I've got to disagree with you. Shrouded ghosts are usually thought of as solitary spirits, but zombies come in hordes. As has been pointed out already, you can use the zombie parts combined with other minifig elements to create a legion of zombie variants. But there's only so much you can do with a sheet-ghost.

I've got multiple of both the MF ghost and the zombie but only intend to have one of the ghosts in my display collection. In contrast, I'm going to have a nice little mob of zombies. Can't have enough zombie goodness!

^^^^I'm planning on building a funeral parlour with 3 or 4 of them, because they don't need lids, complete with undertaker with a stove pipe hat... Just need TLG to bring out a stove pipe hat now

The US also got this set in Toys R us stores recently. Still would prefer the ghost. I need to get several of those sets :)

Does anyone want to trade one of these with me for one of the other monster fighters polybags? :)

This is my favourite set of the promo. Good minifig and cool vehicle good MOCing potential.

This model is not bad, but certainly leaves something to be desired, I am not sure I have ever seen a set which looks more cobbled together in haste than this. The Minifigure is far too common in my view, and massively overused. But for 40p, I am happy with just about anything.

I have 7 glow ghosts (someone left them in the atlantis voyage in legoland) and i still want more. but oh well, close enough.

Weakest set so far in the polybag promo in my opinion - looks like it was designed by a 5 year old. 40p lego is always great but this is poor

A good little model for Halloween. A Ghost passenger would have made it awesome. :)

Posted by Trandoshan in Canada, 31 Oct 2012 20:07

I think it's an awesome car... It's reminds me of the Mummy car in Lego Racers.

Also, having lots of zombie drivers isn't that bad. You could use them for a zombie... chauffeur... convention...

Yeah...

Anyone who thinks they have too many zombie chauffeurs can feel free to post them to me ;)

I couldn't get this one due to work but my lovely neice and sister-in-law both picked one up for me. I knew there was a reason for family!
