    30085 Jumping SnakesHere is today's Sun set: 30085 Jumping Snakes. The minifig is Jay ZX, who appears in five other sets. You can have too many of him, but the rest of the parts in the bag are definitely worth having plenty of, particularly the snakes, although the lime green one is the most common, appearing in four other sets.

    As you can see from the instructions image, the fire-box-thingy (what is it supposed to be?) on the left has a mechanism that ejects the snakes out from the top. It's not much of a model to look at, but it's jolly good fun :-)

    How have things been in your WHS? Mine has been civilised every day so far. I wonder if that will change tomorrow when the best set of the batch is on offer. Mind you, to 98% of the population, it's just another LEGO set isn't it, so I don't suppose it'll be any different...

Most days have been civilised for me but Wednesdays Coffin car and today's Jumping snakes had massive amounts of people and lots were buying multiples.

It's always been civilised at my local. It's mostly pensioners presumably picking them up for family members. Possibly less popular here due to the proximity to Liverpool. Certainly it's common for people to make a point of letting anyone within earshot know they wouldn't usually buy the Sun.

It's been fairly quiet in Swindon. Most people picking up 2 or three kits and saying no to 'any of our chocolate offers'. I think Tuesday was the busiest here. Today I went to Malmesbury and there were just 3 of us hanging round waiting for the shop to open. Nine copies of the Sun sold in thirty seconds. Got to plan for Sunday as local Smiths doesn't open.

I should mention that while the figs in the Ninjago polybags are nice, a Ninjago collector would definitely prefer to get them in the model sets, spinners, or booster packs, since here they lack their luscious shoulder armor. Of course, the same is true of some model sets like the Rattlecopter (where Kai ZX has a jetpack instead of shoulder armor) and Jay's Storm Fighter (where for whatever reason, Jay ZX lacks his shoulder armor-- thankfully a person who is set on getting all four Ninja vehicles can get a Jay ZX with shoulder armor in the Fangpyre Truck Ambush, which is necessary for obtaining Zane's snowmobile).

This is definitely a great set for obtaining a strong collection of those lovely bright yellowish green snakes. Despite being the most common color, I actually have none of them in this color-- all my Ninjago viper pieces come from the Fangpyre Wrecking Ball (bright red), Rattlecopter (white), Cole's Tread Assault (earth blue), and spinner sets (trans. bright orange and warm gold).

The function of this set is quite interesting and I can't say I've ever seen a similar launch function despite how simple it would be to do the same with just basic elements and more conventional projectiles.

I've been going to two stores, one local and one in London. The local one has been really quiet and relaxed all week, today though signs that the central London store was closer to selling out. There was a yellow sign hung up in the background saying "none of today's Lego left", waiting to be put out, which I hadn't seen all week.

Missing the chance to get into the centre through work over the weekend, so i need a similar plan to pick up some elsewhere (maybe TRU). City though might be a good bet to pick up multiples for those who can if it's a bit quieter on the weekend (and indeed the Smiths are open). They had loads of last Sat/Sunday's offerings left over on the Monday.

It's just random in Smiths in central London. I check Kings Cross, St Pancras and Euston.
Some days, they don't have any (today, no delivery to St Pancras of Ninjago), some days, plenty.
Some days its one per cust, some days, how many would you like, sir?
Today I was asked to tear out the vouchers for the first time too.

local store went in at 2pm and loads left, I was a bit surprised as to how many.. but roll on Sat and I wonder how many I will be able to acquire

My local WH Smiths has been very civilised with no major queuing at all. I only found last sat to have the lowest number of papers left. But have always had plenty of boxes of the sets piled up behind the counter.

My WHS (Harrow again today) has been far busier since Wednesday than before - news of the giveaways appears to have got round, albeit slowly, and they have been selling out by anywhere from lunchtime (Coffin Car) to mid-afternoon (Mining Quad). (I popped in at 4:30 today, asked if they had any left, and they confirmed they didn't - but they didn't say when they had sold out. lucky I went at lunchtime for mine.) Tomorrow and Sunday should be interesting.

Very civilised in Southampton, as long as you let the Grannies go first! I was given a handful of Quinjets on Tuesday as they had a whole box left! Tomorrow may be a harder day but I'll be at my local WHS for 8.30am opening - and then Costa for a well earnt coffee!

I visited the local Nuneaton WHS this morning, plenty available and still some left from yesterday. This evening I noticed that all the Ninjago sets had gone. Will be back first thing in the morning for tomorrows set, I bet they will be popular!!

Been very quiet down here in Dorset, and stores have only really sold out of wednesdays Coffin Car. However, I do expect tomorrow to be really busy given the set that is on offer. Probably one of the cheapest armies to buy!!

Huh... I just thought the snakes were launched via catapult. The actual mechanism looks much more effective.

Although I'm not a huge Ninjago fan I do rather like this little set. It affords more playability than most of the other promos, what with the snakes and all. Shame about Jay's lack of armour, though...

In the Eastbourne branch it has always been quiet and every day but Wednesday they have had spares from the day before, but they send those back to Lego rather than giving them out or selling them.

I too am wondering if tomorrow will be any worse than usual since the majority of people will no doubt see it as just another Lego set. Time will tell. How many of tomorrow's polybag is everybody going for?

Smyths here in Dublin aren't as generous as they've been in the past. They're getting smaller supplies than previous editions and just run out on the day so no more getting extras...
WHS in Luton airport on Thursday were not taking part so no luck there.
By the way, the Irish Sun is €1, which is $1.28.

WHS in Chelmsford as of 08.45 this morning (2/11/12) still had sets from every day except Wednesdays left, but you had to have a valid voucher from the paper. I picked up x10 Jumping Snakes (x5 when buying the papers, (limited to 5) and wife went in later with the 5 vouchers out of the same papers), x10 Mining Quads (same method as before), X5 Hawkeyes, x3 Thor, x2 Police Boat. Not bad for two trips to the shops:-) I picked up x5 Monsters on Wednesday as well.
