Discounts at Smyths

  • Discounts at Smyths

Posted by Huw, 05 Nov 2012 04:13. Filed under Shopping (UK).

In an attempt to help you save even more money than you do already by reading Brickset, I've added prices from Smyths Toys to the site.

Products that are discounted are shown in the new Smyths Quick Shopper page (linked to on the menu of the home page) and prices will also be shown under the 'For Sale' tab of set details pages, such as this one (which incidentally is almost half price!).

Prices will be updated every day. They are not alerted in the same way that Amazon prices are, but they probably could be (along with Argos for that matter) if you felt it would be useful.

    Happy shopping!

Very useful addition and well done! Just to make the new Smyths price watch even more awesome, could I be cheeky and suggest any current voucher codes are static at the top of the page.

Good idea. I don't know any at the moment though. Do you?

Posted by Noahs-Dad in United Kingdom, 05 Nov 2012 06:07

Nah, not at moment. Have never bought from them online either to be honest, they have some good buys but they are notoriously bad for stocking issues, and most surprisingly they don't deliver to 75% of the UK. They are well behind TRU, Amazon and even Argos! (worse than Argos for stocking is saying something). I'm lucky I have a store 5 mins away, so I'd be popping along if theres any great buys, unless their online only. They really do need to improve though. Oops I ranted :)

Would love to have this by update in the same manner as Amazon, as well as TRU etc. Really does help.

I'll see what I can do. TRU UK has just closed its affiliate programme so we'll have to do without them. Mind you, when was the last time you found a bargain at TRU? :)

£49 for Mines of Moria, you guys think it's worth it?

^ seems quite good to me - I'm thinking about it.
I felt compelled to send them an e-mail to let them know that the third photo on that page is actually of Helm's Deep. If they change it I'll buy it :-)

^ yeah I have seen it too. Is it the best price so far for this? cause the figs are expensive tho.

Any chance of having the same thing for ireland? I would imagine it wouldn't take much to add that functionality in.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 05 Nov 2012 11:48

I can only do it if they have an affiliate scheme and a product feed. I don't add all the data by hand!

Unfortunately very few countries outside of North America , UK and other large European countries operate them.

So sad. Mind you the same things are usually on sale on the irish site, just at greatly increased prices.

I found the cheapest place to buy lego is Tesco! you can get the vampyre castle for £55 and helms deep for £80. you should do Tesco discounts too.
