    As you may have read in the forum, whung found images of all the TMNT sets on the LEGO image server and posted the links on Eurobricks earlier today, including this 'recently discovered' set Baxter Robot Rampage which is likely to be a 'limited edition' set available only in certain stores.

    I've added the 'out of box' images to the database, you'll find them in the TMNT theme browser.

    The minifig lineup is believed to be as follows:

    • 79100: foot soldier, Michelangelo, The Kraang (in some slug-like guise)
    • 79101: foot soldier, Donatello, Shredder
    • 79102: foot soldier, Raphael, Fishface
    • 79103: foot soldier, Leonardo, Raphael, Splinter, Dark Ninja

The Kraang is actually the slug-like thing. In set 79104 he's in an android -> slug-like Kraang embedded in torso.
Set 79105: woman is April O'Neil

Not so enthused about most of the sets, but I'll probably get the "The Kraang Lab Escape" and "Shedder's Dragon Bike" for Shredder, some Footninjas and a Turtle. :)

Although the Turtle Lair does look better now that I've seen the set itself, not just the box art.

Re: (79105)I believe the girl would be April O'neil, from my 80's knowledge of TMNT. However this series is not based on that era of cartoon.

On a side note is this Baxter Robot Rampage a real set? The robot and car look like they were made by a child, rather then for a child.

A lot of these sets look unfinished or worse, uncoordinated. Many of the color schemes seem like someone quickly put a set together. I will not be buying any of these.

I've been watching the show, that Baxter set is more-or-less accurate to that episode. I'm assuming the smaller bits are meant to be a rocket powered skateboard (seen in the credits) not a car.

I agree with Joe. My first thoughts of the sets where they look unfinished to me. They look like they just threw bricks together and called them sets. These are some of the worst designed sets I have ever seen in my life. This theme is a disaster.

I do like 79100, but that's because it looks like and Alien Conquest set, and I loved that theme.

@Beanermonkey501: No, they look like they were an economical way to add play value to a set with an already-limited budget. Please refrain from using juvenile insults to trivialize what were probably difficult design decisions.

Personally, I think many of these sets make brilliant use of parts, and while there are some tiny polybag-type vehicles, those are usually to make sets with already impressive builds seem less one-sided. The Shellraiser and the lair are both works of art, and the only set which seems slightly disappointing is the Stealth Shell (simply because even with my limited knowledge of TMNT, I know it's supposed to be shell-shaped, and although the solution for its shape is creative it doesn't make that shell motif totally clear).

IMO, these will almost certainly do well, which kind of saddens me since they reduce the likelihood of Legend of Korra sets coming out any time soon, but on the whole is a good thing.

Yes, just to add my 2 cents, Baxter was black in the original comics, opposed to the original TV series. So, I'll also agree that the fellow with the helmet is Baxter :) Can't wait for these!! :D

I really like how Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo are all included in the relatively small sets. 79100, 79101, and 79102 all look like they are around 10 to 20$ sets, so it is nice that the only turtle (ironically the leader) who will be harder to obtain is Leonardo.

The Kraang thing is the best set, because of Kraang, and because it sucks the least as a set and will be cheap. I will probably buy many, many of it to create a Kraang army, and none of the others... unless at steep clearance discounts. Because saying the sets look put together by 8 year olds is a real insult to some MOCs I have seen by 8 year olds. Just abysmally bad.

Wow, as someone who was PSYCHED for TMNT Lego (please make a Technodrome!) these sets are really disappointing. I'm suppose there's no chance Lego actually reads these boards and will have time to redo the sets.

As someone said earlier, great figs, bad models.

When LEGO first announced the new TMNT theme what were we all expecting? Sets based on a cartoon that hasn't been on the air for at least fifteen + years? (Unless you're in Canada and get Teletoon Retro, or get it through some package deal outside of Canada.)

To be perfectly frank I fail to see what is so bad about these sets, the Mini-Figures are interesting, they seem to be capturing the new series style and design wise and there is some potential there.

Honestly I love what they've managed to accomplish so far, I intend to fully support LEGO and collect the entire TMNT line, I'll have to save up for the expensive sets, but it will be well worth it. I remain hopefully optimistic that, much like with Spongebob, we'll see ocassional new sets and perhaps include some special Collector oriented items based on the original 1980's series. I'd kind of like to see a Technodrome, a Channel Six News Building, the Turtle Van, Turtle Blimp and perhaps a Secret of the Ooze inspired Dance Club with Vanilla Ice Mini-Fig. LOL It could happen, one never knows.

Lest we forget this is only the first offering to get the kids invested. If the kids eat up this Theme because their favorite new cartoon series is in LEGO form, than there is potential for growth. When the Star Wars licensed Theme started out those sets looked equally terrible I'm certain, completely inacurate to screen designs, cutting corners, stuff like that. LEGO learned, it evolved, and now look at what Star Wars has become.

I have to have them all i'm going on a Lego with drawel until these sets come out wow i'm impressed when I heard there was gonna be a Kraang I thought it was another robot one well done Lego. And by the way I'm surprised none of you are blaming nickelodean I mean they're not making this easy its as if they have no thought for lego at all. However I am gonna have to agree with you on "The Baxter Pod". I thought they were saving it for next wave so this was a surprise a disappointing surprise!! Plus I'm pretty sure Donnie got these parts from the scrap heap =D.

The minifigures are very awesome and well designs. I'm assuming the various vehicles are supposed to be basic based off the cartoon / movie this is based on. But for the most part, I'm not entirely impressed.

I didn't think the first wave of SW sets looked that bad. These however are a bit of a let-down.

For me, the good thing is that some of the smaller sets have figures I really want - Shredder, foot ninjas, Kraang - and on closer inspection will no doubt have useful parts in interesting colours, because once i've built them they will become part of the collection for moccing anyway and not display. I'll be interested to see where the pricing sits on these sets - licensed means expensive, but they seem low on parts.

I haven't seen the source material for all of these, but I agree that some of these sets are a bit of a missed opportunity. I was really looking forward to the Shell bike, but it just isn't shell like for me. I do like the Shellraiser and the minifigs, the Kraang lab is pretty decent too. But generally, oh dear.

I have to agree with the majority of people on these sets, they are the worse themed sets I have ever seen. The figures are great but if everyone wants the figures only, I can see the price of them going through the roof.
That said, I would guess when the theme fails Lego will be off loading these sets at bargain prices.

^ The re-sale prices for the individual minifigs on BrickLink won't go *astronomically* high, because obviously everyone has the option to just reluctantly buy the whole set off the shelf, and then just throw whatever extra things they don't like to their extra part bins. It's a bummer, but there are definitely a lot of nice re-usable parts in all of them. Since Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael are all in relatively cheap sets, they wont go much above $10 max, but April might hit $20, and Leonardo might hit $40, since they are only in the slightly larger sets. We shall see...!

Hmm. Its hard to find any sort of redeeming qualities about this theme. Its as if all the sets have the same type of lameness, only at varying levels of magnitude. I might have been coerced to pick up some anyway, but that's not so likely given that the Star Wars line decided to not suck for a change.

I think we are looking at the turkey of 2013 licensed themes, though The Lone Ranger could give it some competition for that title.

As a collector of MINIFIGURES I have been uninspired by this years offerings, and the age old problem of too many exclusives in the superheroes series left only the CMF sets worth having this year so here's to 2013 !

I don't get the hate for these sets. I've watched a few episodes of the new cartoon show, and these all seem like LEGO versions of everything that appears in there. The other types TMNT toys seem really cool (and lightyears beyond what was available when I was a kid in the 80s), but I know I would've liked these as a kid, just because they are LEGO.

I thought the Turtles' heads would be too small or disproportionate, but they look pretty fantastic, and in the Baxter set, that is obviously a mouser robot. It looks amazing!

I don't get the complaints about Turtle vehicles, either. They ALWAYS looked stupid, even way back in the 80s. The only possible exception was the Technodrome, and even then it looked like something Destro thought up while drunk with the Baroness, then later discarded.

I don't know what you guys were hoping for. Were our favorite LEGO designers supposed to work some kind of elven magic to make hideous vehicles suddenly cool and awesome? I think that's quite an impossible hurdle to clear, even for them.

This thread has evolved in exactly the same way the Legends of Chima one did: unbridled and irrational hatred for something that hasn't even released yet.

If you think the sets look childish or not to your AFOL taste, that's an acceptable opinion - I personally have no interest in TMNT and won't be getting any of these. But to desire to "punch the designers in the face" is pretty uncalled for. It's also kind of amazing to see the site administrator call these sets "juvenile" when they are clearly being marketed towards children under the age of ten.

As far as I can tell, these sets are pretty darn authentic to the source material, perhaps as much as they could be without becoming too complex for the target audience or for their intended price points. In fact, the color distribution on some of them like the Shellraiser looks perhaps even more cohesive than the subject it is meant to depict. Some of the tinier vehicles resemble tablescraps, but in general they fit the aesthetic the theme is trying to establish, and add play value to sets where the conflict would otherwise be severely one-sided.

I actually had to open my summer 07 lego catalog and remind myself that at one point in time "Only the best WAS good enough!"

79100: Great use of new SNOT elements to seal the gap between the cockpit bubble and the plate underneath and create a cylindrical vehicle. Cohesive color scheme. Complete-looking scene at a (presumably) reasonable price point.

79101: SNOT techniques used to create texture on sides. Innovative use of hinge elements to create the irregularly-shaped rear fender. Cohesive color scheme. Fairly accurate likeness of source material

79102: Unconventional use of elements to create shell-shaped canopy. Heavily Technic-based chassis. Fairly cohesive color scheme for both vehicles.

79103: Diverse interior furnishings to create a wide range of play scenarios. Structure creates the atmosphere of an underground sewer setting without being completely enclosed. Variety of colors and textures to simulate different materials. Unprecedented use of spiral staircase elements. Vertical build to suggest depth. Hinges built in to connect sections according to their irregular footprints. Imaginative function for training area.

79104: Innovative use of SNOT techniques and Technic elements to create vehicle's unique shape (those hinged windows are a work of art). Cohesive color scheme consistent with the rest of the line. Extremely accurate likeness of source material.

79105: Fairly accurate likeness of source material. SNOT and Technic techniques used to simulate robot suit's irregular shape. Sturdy robot suit with legs that can carry its own not-insignificant weight. Grappling-hook and projectile functions incorporated into claws. Turtle vehicles maintain cohesive color schemes consistent with the rest of the line. Robot maintains cohesive color scheme.

All in all, these sets may not be perfect, but I find it extremely insulting when so many people suggest the designers weren't doing their absolute best to create quality sets while working with the constraints of the source material, the parts available to them, the intended price points of the sets, and the target age range's grasp of LEGO building. Designers have to deal with these factors for every single set they design, not just the ones targeted at AFOLs. And being able to deal with these various factors and still put out a product that kids will enjoy is what earns these designers a paycheck.

It's way beyond anything I've ever seen on the Cool Creations page in the magazines, where the most impressive models I've ever seen tend to amount to "look what a great likeness of something I like I can make with basic bricks!" or "Look how ridiculously huge I can make this building/spaceship/pirate ship/castle!" Rarely does a Cool Creations submission have obvious instances of NPU or a design optimized to be appreciated as a toy rather than just a model.

Granted, there are some flaws that stand out to me. I personally love flick-fire missiles, seeing as they're some of the only LEGO projectiles that aren't huge specialized chunks of plastic, but even I admit that 79102 and 79105 have WAY too many of them. While I can appreciate how flick fires let designers spend their budget on making sets look authentic rather than on distracting play features, there's no need to turn every lamp that sticks up off the main vehicle into a flick-fire.

But these little excesses are minor faults, and don't detract from the superb job TLG did rendering this franchise's bizarre vehicles without using any specialized elements designed specifically for this theme-- more than could be said of the early Star Wars sets, which used several new elements, thankfully many of which were versatile enough to still be with us today. Frankly, if this isn't "the best" that could be done given the circumstances, I'd like to know what is.
