The official Lego Stores in the Chicagoland area are running a promotion right now where you receive a free pick-a-brick box if you spend $75 or more.   This will apply to any Lego Store in the USA, however the free pick-a-brick box can only be used after Christmas.

In other news, the Winter Toy Shop #10199 was in stock at the Lego Store as well, over a hundred boxes were available.  If you're lucky enough to live near a Lego Store, you can get this set that's currently sold out online.

I wish they had pick-a-brick at my TRU but they had may of the new 2010 sets, 2 SP3, 2 PowerM, 1 tiny Atlantis and the 6 Bionicle star series!

They also had a 10 off $75 coupon going, so with the amount I spent on LEGO I now have $30 worth of gift cards (they got crafty and made it 6 hours to activate so you'd forget and more importantly come back in, which I'd do anyways...)

I already have the Toy shop but they have the Ariel Defense Unit for $ 20 bucks off (making it 60$)! The helicopter is HUGE, its as huge as the Agents Mobile Command Center, along with agents in their new armor AND Magma Commander and his droids, which are awesome for $60. They also had the troll battle wheel for 29. But since it seems agents are going to be discontinued, I suggest you pick up some of the cool sets they have left.

Oh and the Toy Shop is AWESOME.

Same deal in Atlanta. I picked up two Winter Toy Shop sets, and enough other sets to earn three pick-a-brick boxes. The boxes can be filled between Dec 26 and Mar 31. There were plenty of Winter Toy Shop sets at the store.

I ordered the toy shop about 3 weeks ago at lego.com and was told it was out of stock, however it has since arrived this week... w00t!

I got a pick-a-brick box a few weeks ago in cincinnati.

Yes, the Cincinnati store has that deal as well. Was a nice bonus getting all those boxes with the purchase of the Death Star!

Time to write my annual letter to Lego begging for a Lego Store in the Kansas City area. Or even better, open them up to people who want to own a franchise.

Posted by legowomen1980p in United States, 25 Nov 2009 15:03

i don't think lego is interested in franchises, the market would become over saturated, Every AFOL would start one..
LOL

Other people have opened their own lego stores and have a "cross over" bricklink store.

Hopefully they won't run out during Black Friday!

Simple answer is yes, all LEGO stores are doing the free pick-a-brick box promo. As for the Toy Shop, head to your local LEGO store to get them because they are going quick. Kudos to anyone who picked up one when they first came out.

They had maybe a hundred Winter Toy Shops at the LEGO Store in Valley Fair (Santa Clara, CA) today on Black Friday.

They do this every year. More than once I forget to bring the boxes back before they expire (usually around march)

However, $75 is a smaller threshold than past years when I think it was $100

Just spend 400$ at a lego store and they gave me 4 PAB boxes. Good thing have a store 10 minutes from me. I just hope they get some new parts in this year.

Posted by jkool in United States, 30 Nov 2009 17:45

If you spent $400 you should have received 5 boxes, right? $75 x 5 = $375. Try to go back and get your fifth!

Got two Winter Toy Shops today at the Lawrenceville (Atlanta) store. Keeping one and one is a gift (I'm not a Lego scalper). Spent a couple more bucks and got a second PAB box. They had plenty remaining. Mine is gonna be an annual Christmas decoration...my son and I will have a great time putting this one together...

The Winter Toy Shop is also sold out in Germany. I'm glad I've ordered a set on the 22nd Nov. It arrived today and I will check with my wife and little daughter if we build it now or closer to Christmas.
Really hope to see an additional set to the Toy Shop next year right before christmas.

Boo Hoo!
Its sold out in Europe now too! I went to order one yesterday and its gone. Tooo bad, I really wanted one.

Posted by alpha 40 in United States, 04 Dec 2009 21:15

I was going to order this the other day and saw it was sold out online. Too bad because I was at the lego store in Natick, Massachusetts ( over 1 and a half hours away) two weeks ago for Star Wars in Concert in Boston.
I ended up settling for MMV instead.

I don't understand why a Lego store isn't opened in my area. Every store from TRU to Target haven't been able to keep sets on their shelves for years now. :( I hope they keep expanding their locations.

Visited the Lego Store at Mall of America tonight. They still had quite a stack of the Winter Toy Shop, limit two per customer. They were also giving out the Pick-a-brick boxes and letting people fill them up tonight. I'm not sure if that is their normal practice, or just a way to drum up some extra business during a blizzard (which we're in the middle of).
