We've had a number of reports that WH Smith stores in the UK are now selling Series 9 Collectable Minifigures. So far, we've heard that the Smith's in Norwich and London (Oxford Street) have them.

I tried confirming this is person today, in Milton Keynes (which still has Series 8 & Team GB figs), but no luck for me. If you spot them in the UK, please let us know here. Thanks!

Thanks to crazycrisplego and Evil_Do0d for emailing us with the news.

Derby branch had two whole boxes on friday. Picked up 3 packs. Some good figs but definitely not the best series.

Posted by LostInTranslation in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2012 16:58

Gah, I was on Oxford Street today. Why didn't I look?!?

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2012 17:05

I will have a look in Eastbourne tomorrow, almost all of them of them look brilliant!

Posted by SilentMode in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2012 17:19

I'm on it tomorrow, at Shepherds Bush.

Posted by Evil_Do0d in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2012 18:45

didn't open my 9 packets yet, but I know (from feeling) that I got a Cyclops, 2 Battle Mechs, Alien Avenger, Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde, Judge, Chicken guy, Caesar and Knight. I'll go back for the rest after the holidays.

It had been the first time in 2 years where I had been questioned about feeling the packets - the employee questioned whether it was allowed or not. I had never been stopped by an employee before at WH Smith, TRU, Waterstones or John Lewis before. I decided not to make it awkward and didn't get all the ones I wanted, but oh well. Just happy to chance upon them before it was even reported.

Cool, I hope they show up in the US soon!

Posted by matt71young in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2012 20:53

Feel them when you get home and return the other ones. : )

Posted by JeagerEX in United States, 16 Dec 2012 21:17

I can't wait for US.

Posted by Si_Dorking_Surrey in United Kingdom, 16 Dec 2012 23:54

Yeah but what I want to know is how big are the boxes?
Also, are WHS selling them at over RRP as usual?

Posted by eddie20 in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 00:21

i ve seen them down here in kent my local branch of sainsburys has them already stocked

Posted by Delatron in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 03:44

Ooh, Gandalf saw them in Derby! And i've got this afternoon booked off work so........ into the Westfield it is then!

@Si_Dorking_Surrey; have you seen Smiths selling figs at over RRP previously then? I ask because they have always been £1.99 each when i've been in, including the Team GB figs, except at airports. I am always waiting for them to stick the price up though and the figs are about the only reason I go in there.

Don't forget to join the privilige club for vouchers too if you haven't already - usually get at least one for toys, £5 off when you spend £20 or something similar and it takes a few minutes on their website. Worth doing.

Posted by CCC in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 04:21

^ Didn't they stop the privilege club vouchers?

I also got asked what I was doing feeling up packs of S6 in Asda at the weekend. They had them for £1.04, so grabbed a couple of Romans. I have never been asked about it before either. It was not like anyone else was interested in them, the rest of the toy aisle was completely empty.

Posted by Kez in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 05:11

^ Go into a lego store, they feel them for you and are most of the time correct, instead though I'm getting mine of eBay because it saves a lot of hassle and time.

Posted by bricksan in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 05:34

I have a full list of what stores have stock and how much --> http://brickfanatics.co.uk/series-9-hitting-whsmiths/

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 06:05

^^^ Yeah I thought they had stopped the privilege scheme a month or so back? And TeamGB figs seemed be £2.49 wherever I saw them in WHSmiths.

Guess I'm off to Smiths at lunch. The hunt begins!

Posted by dcmal in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 06:24

They have them at Ealing Broadway Highstreet.

Posted by Delatron in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 07:23

No club vouchers? Boooooooo! Got to pay full price. Just checked elsewhere, no current deals for WH Smiths on any of the usual voucher sites/ money-saving expert, etc.

I wondered why WH Smiths hadn't sent any e-mails recently......

@CCC, the local Asda to my work had S6 down to £1.40 each for a while but they've been gone for some time - i'll keep an eye out for £1.04 though.

Bought 22 packs at WHS Oxford Street, London today. But I know that a fellow Bricksetter was hot on my heels and bought loads. So I'm not sure what the current situation is.

They were £1.99 each, the usual price.

Must say that the staff were charming and more than happy for me to feel bags.

Posted by obiron17 in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 08:44

I got asked what I was doing feeling the bags in WHSmith for series 7 (by a very rude and obnoxious member of staff), so I brought 30 packets took them home and sorted out a set (minus the merking) and then took the lot back for a refund. I waited until the rude git who asked me earlier what I was doing was on the till and asked for them all to be refunded.....rather immature of me I know but it made me feel better ;0)
Very different for series 8 when I was in the Lego store in Westfield in East London when a member of staff helped me find all the ones I needed (and it was his idea).

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 08:58

Found them! Got a alien marine thingy. Was hoping for a Forest Maiden, but I think the odds were stacked against me.

Posted by balkris in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 09:13

Nothing in Leeds yet, but they are almost out of series 8 so perhaps they're running down the old stock before they put out the new

Posted by maniac in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 09:15

Just gone to the Doncaster Branch, 60 packets to a box here, £1.99 per packet.

Staff member at till was very friendly and even offered to feel some packs up for me! (which she had done for herself earlier). However, I just picked a random few up. Couldn't resist getting few more an hour later though!

Also to note, each transaction gets you a 'save £5 when spending £20 voucher' from 26th Dec to 1st Jan. :)

Posted by iron_maid in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 10:05

Series 9 appeared in The Barn toy shop in Crawley County Mall among few sets of Hobbit. I tried my luck and bought six trying to feel different ones. Nothing in WHS so far.

Posted by legolover2001 in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 11:08

As I was shopping Christmas in Norwich today I just had to pop into WHS to get them as a presie for my best buddy!
!

Posted by ccjwprongs in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 13:45

Just got back from Oxford Street WHS - had 3/4 of a box there as of around 17:30. So I'm assuming they've got plenty and have put out another box since Zander was there.

Picked 3 at random as I was in something of a rush to get home... Xmas shopping in Central London is a nightmare.

Posted by Whoschunks in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 14:45

They had them in WHS in Ipswich today, got myself 4 packs but no feeling as they were behind the counter!! Got 4 different ones though so happy about that!!

They have hit the US! The Lego store at the mall here in Chandler, AZ had several boxes out and available for 'inspection.' They normally get new shipments in on Mondays, so I made the trip at lunch today. Pulled together most of the set and may go back later tonight.

Posted by Zander in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 16:35

Whoschunks,
One of the managers at WHS Oxford St explained that the reason that some branches put newly released minifigs behind the counter is that kids half inch them otherwise. If you're an adult who looks trustworthy, as I'm sure you are, they will usually hand you a box if you ask nicely.

Alternatively, you can always buy loads, take them away and feel them in your own time, and return the unwanted ones. As long as the packs are in "as new" condition, WHS is fine with that.

Hey @expos94, when did the Chandler store get them?

Posted by swtfan in United Kingdom, 18 Dec 2012 06:10

any in portsmouth yet cant wait to get a box

Posted by NeilMartin in United Kingdom, 18 Dec 2012 10:22

Spotted in Telford "The Entertainer" store at lunchtime today (Tuesday 18th December).

Got 3 out of 4 that I was looking for, Elf Maiden, Starlet and Alien Trooper

Very happy!

Posted by coxsparra in United Kingdom, 18 Dec 2012 11:02

None in the Bournemouth area :(

Posted by ginja in United Kingdom, 19 Dec 2012 00:31

Basingstoke Entertainer have them in stock. Only 2 boxes though so there'll be none of that 'buying whole boxes' allowed as stock is limited.

Posted by Dark_Pegasus in United Kingdom, 19 Dec 2012 09:55

I can confirm that these are available at W H Smith; Cribbs Causeway, Bristol. They had them hung up near the counters near the entrance to the store and have several boxes full in their store room.

Posted by balkris in United Kingdom, 19 Dec 2012 16:13

Can confirm they are now at WH Smiths in Leeds, at the tills

Posted by neal in United Kingdom, 19 Dec 2012 21:12

I got a full set in Leeds WHS, near Ikea on the Tueuday 18th, evening. 15 out of one the first box, 1 to complete from the second box. Four full boxes near tills and on till counter. Staff, including manager seemed happy for me to feel the packets. The salesperson at the till seemed amazed that I managed to find a full set in about 10 mins.

Posted by Hob in United Kingdom, 20 Dec 2012 09:25

Spotted in WHS in Bristol (Gallireies). Picked up 7 random sets and got all different well pleased.

Posted by Snufkin in United Kingdom, 20 Dec 2012 16:07

Thanks to the tip for BRIKSAN I picked a box up in the WH Smith Aberdeen Branch. Box of 60, same size as the past series. Nearly fell over in a heap when the guy at the till ripped open the box to count them though! I wish people would understand I'm a nerd. Also saw Series 8 down to £1.49 in John Lewis but didn't like to stand and 'feel' there.

Posted by djs666 in United Kingdom, 22 Dec 2012 07:00

WHS Swindon now has series 9. Full boxes of 60. The breakdown for the box is exactly the same as in the Eurobricks review.

Posted by The solitary dark in United Kingdom, 22 Dec 2012 10:51

The Entertainer in Staines had 1 box, but there were only 12 packets left yesterday. I picked up 4. 3 waiters, 1 policeofficer. Any Tesco sightings yet?
