The official release date for Legends of Chima, in the UK at least, is 26th December, and it's been noticed that some branches of Toys R Us have already started getting displays ready for the launch. However, some shops have started selling them early, including John Lewis and my local branch of Smyths. Why, then, haven't we started posting reviews and images already? Well, LEGO has sent us some sets to review and requested that we don't publish until Boxing Day, so expect a flurry of activity then, both here and at other sites.

In the meantime, to whet your appetite, here are scans of the pages of the instructions of 70000, that I bought yesterday, showing five of the six tribes that are at war.  In the blue (good) corner we have lions and eagles, and in the red (bad) corner we have crocodiles, ravens and wolves. It's interesting that the good side does not show gorillas, which are mentioned in the Toy News article. I can only surmise that they are going to appear later in the year, maybe coming to the rescue or something.

Poor Crooler. She didn't get any weapons for Christmas.

I like them, I think they look better than the Ninjago figures.

Can't say I'm a big fan of the Chima theme. Might get a few of the better looking sets (eagle jet, etc/:) but will have to see.

^^^Crooler is a female.

I can't say I'm super wild about the theme; but after looking at the figures and taking a closer view at the sets, some of them look to be decent parts packs (depending on the price) and many of the minifig weapon elements are actually pretty cool.

I see some Flash Gordon style MOCs in the near future!

After looking that those photos, I'm pretty much with The_Rizulli. I'll wait for the sets and see if any really spark my interest. Based on the photos of the mini-figures I think I'll likely to pass on this line.

The Entertainer had these right at the front of the store yesterday at my local, and WH Smith's round the corner had some of the Speedorz packs. My kids spoted them but then saw the new Friends Polybags and S9 minifigs. I cannot help but get a Thudercats vibe off these.

Not bad, perhaps I might buy one or two of the smaller sets if an opportunity presents itself...

I picked up a couple of sets yesterday, the Crocodile Car thingy, (think its 70001) and the Laval Vs Cragger Speedorz set.

They're suprisingly good fun, and the minifigs are lovely. Will be getting more of these for sure.

Huw, i kind of feel your pain on this. I bought a half dozen sets yesterday, plan was to have them for myself, was ordered by flatmate to flip them with the other lego sets im selling this xmas. So ive got a load of sets i cant have a mess with sat on the other side of the room, its driving me insane. So we compromised and decided what isnt sold by the 27th i get to keep.

The builds look ok, im guessing once the theme is fleshed out it will seem better, but the minifigs are beautiful, and i really want to have my new Arkham Asylum under seige by mythical beasts!

I was 'just passing' my Smyths again this afternoon, hoping to snag a couple more only to find that the entire display of LoC and new Friends had been removed. I guess the 'Brickset Effect' occured: LEGO's 'marketing police' read of their availabilty and asked for them to be taken off the shelves.

I can say that the speeders are way to fun too play with!!!

It's a shame I found out about this today because I was talking to my freinds the other day about lego LoC, and saying that there was loads on ebay but with riddiculus prices. I also found out today that there is some sets in the ASDA in chapel town.

WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Posted by matt8241 in United Kingdom, 22 Dec 2012 16:24

i just visited my local ASDA, they'd removed the Friends and LOC stands from the shop floor, but there were still a fair few on the regular shelves, so i stocked up on some of the bigger sets of LOC and the Friends polybags.

Only Lennox and Laval look really interesting. :|
Although Laval is supposed to be the main character (?), Lennox, it appears, is in the most sets.
Cragger might be better, if he didn't have that weapon.

Certains modèles de "Legend of Chima" sont déja mis en rayon en France dans les grandes surfaces:Leclerc.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 22 Dec 2012 17:35

I like the alliteration of all the names (and their particular animal species. The wolves all having "w" names, etc). But no, Chima is still not really grabbing me. I still want those eagle jets, though. They remind me of zords.

Not a fan as I have really gravitated to the licensed themes. It is kind of a sci-fi addicts dream come true. TMNT, Superheroes, Star Wars, and LOTR all in one toy form. Add to that the Lone Ranger and it makes me happy. All of that to say this... The eagle race should indicate a Hawkman and Hawkgirl in the near future for DC superheroes because those molds are perfect including the head pieces.

I'm looking forward the new action figures. Hope they follow the two-sided weapon idea for Cragger.

Spotted the smaller sets in Fenwicks in Canterbury and all the 2013 Friends sets too. The daughter will be VERY happy!

Loads in its own display at Asda Bournemouth

With the eagle wings I guess we are soon getting an CMF angle :-)

Picked up 70101 Target Practice at TRU yesterday (Christmas eve, or should that be Chimas eve?). Got it mostly for the minifig, so I can add an eagle-man to my fantasy minifigs. The rest of LoC doesn't excite me.

Argos had Chima and new Friends when I went in just now.
