Hero Factory, the replacement for Bionicle, has been revealed at what looks like a US toy fair website, WizardWorld. I can't get the images to load, I suspect the site is under some strain at the moment, but Eurobricks has copies of them, some of which don't load either at the moment! Clealy there's a lot of interest in these, which are described as follows:

    7164 Preston Stormer
He’s the Hero Factory Alpha Team leader, having completed more missions than any other hero. Brave and tough, yet proud and competitive, he is armed with a built-in multi-functional ice weapon, featuring an ice saw, bolt shooter, and harpoon to stop anyone in their tracks.

    7165 Natalie Breez
A Hero Factory rookie, training alongside Blaze, she is agile, a natural diplomat and always ready to give it everything she’s got. Armed with energized dual boomerangs and harpoon for climbing, she’s always ready to tackle any mission.

    7167 William Blaze
A Hero Factory rookie on his final training mission, Blaze is smart, highly competitive and very confident. Armed with a dual fire shooter, he always has everyone’s back.

    7168 Duncan Bulk
The toughest, strongest hero on the Hero Factory Alpha Team, Duncan has built-in heavy multifunctional metal weapons which shoot metal spheres, helping to protect everyone from danger.

    7169 Mark Surge
The youngest rookie on the Hero Factory team, Surge is a little clumsy, yet highly competitive. He tends to have problems landing his hero pod, but his skill in manipulating his electrical shield, armor and lightning weapon makes up for it.

    7170 Jimi Stringer
The most highly advanced hero on the Factory’s Alpha Team, Stringer is armed with a built-in multi-functional sonic weapon.

All will cost $7.99 and be available in August.

Ugh, um, well... better than I expected, honestly... they actually LOOK like Bionicle, which is good... hang on, no elbow articulation again? Sigh...

Posted by jack75 in United States, 14 Jan 2010 12:32

THIS is replacing Bionicle?...*Sigh*

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 14 Jan 2010 13:05

They look like c**p just like Bionicle, but at least they are cheap.

Posted by knuclear200x in United States, 14 Jan 2010 13:18

I LOVE the new masks and armor pieces, looks like its going to be awesome after all. As for those pre-bent limbs, at least they'll be compatible with old pieces you might have lying AUGUST???!!!!! Isnt that a longer wait than the previous lines?

Posted by Lego Jones20 in United States, 14 Jan 2010 15:30

Meh....not as bad as I expected.

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, 14 Jan 2010 15:34

Well they look okay.

Posted by Batmaniam in Canada, 14 Jan 2010 16:01

They look really cool! I never really got any bionicle, but I might get some of these! I hope that they have a really cool story line.
I was wondering what would replace the bionicle comic books that come with the lego magazine....maybe lego would make comics of these sets.

Posted by nmurray2 in United States, 14 Jan 2010 16:39

This is probably the WORST line since Galidor. I cant see these lasting 2 years.

Posted by Captain Aardvark in United States, 14 Jan 2010 16:59

I don't think the sets look too bad, but the storyline and names sound terrible.

Posted by iabstract in United States, 14 Jan 2010 17:12

Looks just like Bionicle to me, but I was never a big fan, so perhaps I'm missing some subtleties.

Names and story almost sound like they're trying to mix this with the Alpha Team / Agents lines.

Sounds interesting, excepts for being liberal.
God bless,
Crushmaster.

its sad how bionicle has been dumped hero factory sounds really silly

Posted by Retsnom Kcor in United States, 14 Jan 2010 18:02

Wow. When I read the names I was like "Oh no." When read the whole thing I was like "No. Just... No." When I saw the pictures... I was speechless. HOWEVER, I think I'll wait a while and see what I think of them over time. I was actually hoping I would hate them (because I honestly don't want to spend as much money on these as I did on Bionicle) But...

They aren't cheap for what they are, really.
In 2001 The Lego Group did action figures with a limit of 49 pieces for that price. They had also better articulation (in 2004 with the Metru), functions, and Technic pieces, something we can't find in the current Bionicle sets (Stars).
The new pieces look like even more over-specialized than in any transformation that Bionicle has ever got. But some masks looks good, though.
Although I'm a Bionicle fan since 2001, I won't get those or even a Bionicle stars sets. I know Lego can do better than those... at least for this price range.

Posted by Legoman1993 in Canada, 14 Jan 2010 18:34

Oh my gosh!! This figures are not lego are they??...... this kind of looks like something that mega blocks would make! I am disappointed with lego lately!

Posted by kevin30 in United States, 14 Jan 2010 19:36

well, I guess there okay, they should have just kept with bionicle and added these new names and peices. good price I guess though.

I guess they're okay. They ll have really nice weapons.

Posted by Denver_80203 in United States, 14 Jan 2010 20:17

Meet the new Bionicle, same as the old Bionicle

Posted by bajadogq in United States, 14 Jan 2010 20:29

First Lego ends Bionicle with midgets, now they want us to settle with this! Well I guess it looks better than Lego Ben Fail- I mean 10. At least they have SOME Bionicle pieces (they can be seen under the armor). P.S. Don't Thrash-Talk Bionicle... unless your talking about those disgusting Stars...

Posted by Republic Commando Sev in United States, 14 Jan 2010 20:40

Better then I thought they were going to be, and I'm glad their cheaper then Bionicle. Bionicle was getting pretty expensive at the $13 price tag.

I can't see the pics either, but the names and descriptions LOOK stupid. Bionicle was a great line for LEGO.

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 14 Jan 2010 22:50

as long as it keeps LEGO in business =]

Posted by Stravant in Canada, 14 Jan 2010 22:58

I had high hopes that there be some improvement, bring the new series back to Lego's core with less specialized pieces.

I was wrong =/

Posted by Matthew91294 in United States, 14 Jan 2010 23:38

Hmm... these dont look too good. I highly doubt Ill get one. They look geared to younger kids and have really cheeshy names. But i would choose them any day over (do I dare say it?) Ben ten.

Posted by michaelvader in United States, 15 Jan 2010 07:04

I might get 1 or 2 because they look like they will work with bionicle pieces.

Posted by Shamu1Believe in United States, 15 Jan 2010 07:31

Well... its not Bionicle... but not horrible, better than Toy Story. It will do.

Posted by jteisberg in United States, 15 Jan 2010 09:47

they look pretty cool. way better then i expected. the color scheme is pretty much the same and so are the joints and other parts, so it will be compatible with my old bionicles! i kinda hope they dont make a DEEP story line for these guys like they did Bionicle. If they start making another story WHILE there still making Bionicle storys.... ones gonna get sloppy. +i cant follow TWO!

Posted by carding in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2010 10:37

hero factory what sort of name is that. lego better have a good story behind this

Posted by HSWW in United States, 15 Jan 2010 12:01

if you ask me it is all stupid ben 10s fault that bionicle has ended. in the uk ben 1o sets are £12.99 arip off considering that they only got 15-20 pieces. bionicle are great but i think lego could of ended wikth something better than bionicle stars. they should of ended bionicle with something simular to kardas or skopio xv-1. hero factory look stupd. the colours are exactly the same as bionicle. if i buy one it will only be for the masks and the weapon!!!!!!

Posted by CheeseyBricks in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2010 13:44

I honestly don't see what you're all complaining about. I see virtually no difference between these and bionicle, other than the lack of moveable arms. The joints are the same too, I believe, so they are perfect for customising your bionicles. I used to collect bionicles, but I never really followed the storyline, and after a while I got bored of the sets. To me, these look better than the Stars (other than their stupid names, I mean what were they smoking when the made up "Natalie Breez" and "Preston Stormer"?)

Posted by Dragon-fire in United Kingdom, 15 Jan 2010 14:22

THe names are a bit stupid, the story is nowhere near as epic as Bionicle, but if they must end Bionicle sets, then Lego could have done a lot worse than this lot

Besides, at least Ben10 isn't replacing Bionicle, as some other people on the net have been saying

Posted by C-Fish in United States, 15 Jan 2010 14:45

Yeah, right on, Dragon-fire! I totally agree with you! You are right, they could have done a LOT worse.

Posted by dragonmaster in United States, 15 Jan 2010 16:54

i wish lego would bring bionicle back and not this or at least like a collectible bionucle or something every month. It would be cool if they made like a giant bionicle ultimate collector series type thing like vezon and kardas

Posted by C-Fish in United States, 15 Jan 2010 17:25

Of course, the storyline might be very good and the names are really kind of cool. We'll just have to wait and see. I, for one, think they look very cool. ( but not as cool as Bionicle ;)

Posted by BionicleBOOM in United States, 15 Jan 2010 18:02

Really, LEGO seems to be pumping out sets only for little guys lately. I mean, Ben 10, Toy Story, and now Hero Factory, replacing my favorite LEGO theme.

Posted by southpaw in United States, 15 Jan 2010 19:06

To be honest, the bad guys look waaaaaaay more cool. Plus they don't have the lame-o names. ;)

Posted by daniel c. in United States, 15 Jan 2010 21:18

Hero factory looks to be a step down from Bionicle in terms of Mocing possibilities, as there seem to be far fewer attachment points like pin holes and axle rods. Some of the new parts look virtually distinguishable from the plastic junk used in Megablok's Neo Shifters - and probably have even fewer uses than the Ben 10 parts. Basically, I'm not happy at all, because Bionicle was one of my favorite lines, and now they've canceled it only to replace it with a lower quality knock-off. >_>

Oh, and BionicleBOOM, I wouldn't say Toy Story is just for little kids as there are tons of great parts (PURPLE) and some interesting set concepts. It's not quite the System many are used to, mainly because of the unusual figs, but it's no Duplo either. ;)

Posted by C-Fish in United States, 15 Jan 2010 21:25

Well, can someone put up the pics.?

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 15 Jan 2010 22:51

WOOHOO, back down to 8 dollars. yes. this makes these automaticly better.

Posted by voyanui8768 in United Kingdom, 16 Jan 2010 03:04

The conversion into pounds is about £5 but will probably be about £6.99 like the Bionicle Stars.

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 16 Jan 2010 04:35

I'm not going to criticize this line, it's simply not for me, just as Bionicle wasn't for me. Those names though, a bit silly aren't they...

Posted by Tri-pod king in United States, 16 Jan 2010 15:48

Hm, I think these guys are worthy of a chance. I know I'll be trying to get them all! Well, at least the six main ones, particularly William Blaze. Heh heh, ''William''...

Posted by Tri-pod king in United States, 16 Jan 2010 15:55

I will still miss Bionicle, but they finished the line off horribly. I'm a HUGE red Bionicle fan, and I didn't get Tahu for Christmas and I'm okay with it. I can wait. No knee or elbow joints? COME ON. Characters, yes. Figures themselves, heck no. This theme replacing Bionicle? I'll give it a chance, but they better make up for the Stars. And they ESPECIALLY better get elbow and knee articulation sooner or later...

Posted by hero factor in United States, 17 Jan 2010 13:32

I hate the names of these sets

Posted by LEGOwikiguy in United States, 17 Jan 2010 20:10

In my opinion, I think LEGO just realized that most people just don't care for Ben 10 to replace Bionicle, so they have this.

Posted by nath8888 in United States, 17 Jan 2010 20:29

Im sorry that it ever got thought of.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 18 Jan 2010 05:07

Honestly, Ben 10 was *never* the replacement for Bionicle, that was just some crazy rumour that got out of hand. What we now know as 'Hero Factory' has been in development for years as a replacement for Bionicle.

Posted by LEGOwikiguy in United States, 18 Jan 2010 07:40

You're probably right, especially these catchy names. :P

Posted by BionicleBOOM in United States, 18 Jan 2010 13:37

Now that the pix are up on Brickset and I can see 'em, they look even worse then the descriptions. I mean, they seem to have *maybe* 20- pieces. And Bionicle wasn't outta ideas either, don't understand it.

And what's worse is that they're only a little bigger than Agori and later versions of Matoran. These are sooo meant for little kids. I mean, XPlode?!?

Posted by LEGOwikiguy in United States, 18 Jan 2010 16:40

I think they should've just kept Bionicle, but oh well. :\

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 19 Jan 2010 10:26

THEY ARE NOT PRE-SET LIMBS. just zoom in. They bend one way sure but that is the way that your elbow joint bends.

So you can't bend their arms backward, so? the hand, sholders, hips and legs have them, isn't that enough. I know that you are upset but you can't just hate on these, give these a chance like the other guys.

Posted by Loganwan in United States, 19 Jan 2010 15:16

As a fan of Legos in general, I hope this line succeeds. This is a replacement for a product that has brought a new generation to Legos. With a slight manga style to them, they were able to pull in people from all over. There are quite a few Bionocle pieces that made it to the mainstream Lego lines, and for that, I appreciate Bionicle. Hopefully Hero Factory will do the same.

I am a bit surprised by the high dollar to low piece count. At least it is not as bad as Ben 10 that had 15 pieces for $15. $1 a piece is a bit outside of the 10 cent-a-piece we have in standard Legos.

Only time will tell.

Posted by bmwlego in United States, 19 Jan 2010 19:55

Bionicle with names you can pronounce.

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 19 Jan 2010 21:27

^HAHA, nice, too true

^
^
They ARE quite manga style, why did i not see that, I LOVE MANGA, huh, good call.

Posted by Yoda 56 in United States, 19 Jan 2010 23:17

They look okay, but I don't like their names!

Posted by LEGOwikiguy in United States, 21 Jan 2010 07:32

I just watched a Bionicle Stars commercial (Personally I don't really care for Bionicle, but I just saw it on), and this looks exactly the same as them! No real difference except for the rubbish names, even stuff like Raanu or Skrall is better than Preston Stormer.

Posted by Batmaniam in Canada, 21 Jan 2010 22:16

Check out this teaser for Hero Factory:

Posted by Tri-pod king in United States, 24 Jan 2010 03:14

Their names are annoying, but an interesting change. If they're using the same Glatorian heads and hands(judging by the pictures and Astro Boy/Exo-Force-esque teaser trailer), that that clearly rules out the Bionicle Glatorian season as completely unnecessary. If they hadn't had the Glatorian season, there for saving the unveiling of the hands and head until this theme, it might've made it more...unique, per say.
Plus I think we all know that if the theme flies, they'll have posable joints in a year or two. We can wait, right? Ehhhh.....
