    I wasn't going to mention this because this is Brickset, not BrickVideoGame but judging by the number of emails I've received about it, there's clearly some interest and excitement about it.

    I was also going to start the article by saying that it would have been more newsworthy if LEGO was not producing a Marvel video game given there's one made for every theme these days, but from what I've read apparently it's surprising that it is seeing the light of day given that Warner Brothers owns TT Games and DC Comics, who are of course Marvel's main rival.

I'm hazarding a guess that we'll see an exclusive figure for pre-ordering like the other lego games. Let the speculation begin!

I'm looking forward to this one.

We immensely enjoyed Lego Batman 2, especially due to the free roaming nature of Gotham. Hoping to see something similar here.

To be honest I'm not too surprised at this. After all, TT Games did put out a Pirates of the Caribbean game, despite it being owned by Disney. And since Marvel, too, is a Disney property, it's not all that startling that WB would be willing and able to publish a game based on Marvel characters.

Still neat news, though. I look forward to hearing more about this game.

I've generally enjoyed the LEGO games so far, barring some glitches in gameplay for Batman 2, but I'm sad that I now don't own a compatable console with the releases for this year.

I love the LEGO game, so I'm looking forward to a Marvel game. I just hope they expand LEGO Marvel universe, they are seriously lacking X-Men. The Avengers and Spiderman are great and all but they are not the X-Men. I don't understand why we have not gotten more X-Men sets. The Blackbird seems a logical set as does the Danger Room. I want a Storm, Rogue, Emma, Jean, Iceman, Gambit, and Angel minifigure!

There is mention of a certain world devourer, I'm calling it now, the LEGO Exclusive Mini-Figure for pre-orders will be Galactus.

I think you misunderstood. Huw said that WB owns *Traveler's Tales* and DC, so it's surprising that they'd make a game based off of their rival's products.
Guardians of the Galaxy is another of Marvel's superhero teams. They have a movie coming out next year.

Lego only has the right to make X-Men and Spiderman sets out of the comics, since the movie rights are owned by different studios. It is still surprising that they haven't made more, but there are a couple of sets for later this year that haven't been revealed, so who knows...

On another note, I'm excited to see Lego Guardians of the Galaxy.

It seems to me that the Lego Marvel sets have been leaning more towards the content that's being produced by Disney. The Avengers sets were all based on the new movie and the new Spider-Man sets are based on the the cartoon show on Disney XD. They have 2 new shows coming out, one called Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. featuring Hulk, She-hulk, Red Hulk, A-Bomb and Skaar. Avengers Assemble is the other. I wonder if we'll see some sets based on these new shows or if they'll lean more towards the new movies.

I want to play this game so bad! But i have to wait till fall. Why cant they release it sooner. Plus i really want that exclusive minifig that will come with it. I bet it would be like Reed Richers though considering they already released a Dr. Doom.

I am very pleased to hear this news, in particular as it means an exclusive Minifigure. I, like many others, really hope we get a new character rather than just one in a different outfit. Perhaps somebody else from the X-Men like Storm or Cyclops? Although I think (and hope) that perhaps Odeinoichus is onto something with Galactus. We will have to wait and see...

^The Wii U is the newer version of the Wii, so of course it will be made for it. It wouldn't make as much sense to make it for the original Wii.

C'mon, these games are tons of good fun, they bring the Lego World to life, and the environments have hundreds of virtual designs for vehicles and buildings that you can nudge TLG to make as a real set, or you can make it for yourself! Seriously, what is not to love here?

We discuss lots of topics that are only tangentially related to sets... Why so anti-video-game, bro?! =)

Well it's about time! They already made a DC universe Lego game (Lego Batman 2) so it's natural to assume they were eventually going to create a Marvel game. I've been really looking forward to this for a long time, even though I'm a diehard DC fan!

Plus at the very least, if you play the game, you will get to see what the full-size SHIELD Heli-Carrier, etc, would look like if the designers were totally free of cost constraints!

I think that the Tower of Orthanc was just a piece of scenery in a bonus level of Lego LOTR, until the fans nudged TLG to release it as a real set, no. 10237.

At 73cm tall and 21cm wide, I think that it will qualify as the first real massive UCS-caliber set in a licensed theme other than Star Wars...

So think about THAT if you like sets...!

On the whole Wii U vs. Wii controversy - it does seem stupid not to do both. Many consoles are backwards compatible, but Nintendo stopped the practice once they debuted the Wii. You'd think that they'd share some compatibility since they share a brand, but Nintendo also stopped caring about what it's audience wanted years ago.

This would have been an easy buy for me, but I'm not buying a new console system for one game.

@Cinemajay: What do you mean "Nintendo stopped the practice" once they debuted the Wii? If I remember correctly, the Wii was one of the first Nintendo non-handheld consoles in recent decades to be backwards compatible, since it could use not only Gamecube disks but also Gamecube controllers. In contrast, Gamecube couldn't play N64 games, N64 couldn't play SNES games, and I don't even think SNES could play NES games. The Wii also made games from older, cartridge-based systems playable through the "Virtual Console" service, even though this means you can't just use games you bought a decade ago in their original cartridge form. Overall I can't see any way the Wii was anything but a step forwards for the company when it came to being backwards compatible.

The Wii U, in turn, can play Wii games and use Wii controllers, which suggests Nintendo is moving towards the same type of backwards compatibility as they have for handhelds-- that is, any new game system will be able to play games from the system directly preceding it. Considering there are a good five or six years between generations of video game consoles, I don't think this is too problematic-- it's not as though your games will become unplayable on the latest system within a few years of buying them.

The game is already being developed for several different consoles, and I don't see why TT Games should be developing it for a console that is no longer current, nor do I see why Nintendo should be discouraging Wii users from transitioning to the latest system. This isn't to say releasing it for the Wii would be a bad thing for Wii users (I have yet to get a Wii U and am in no particular hurry, since I personally don't play video games all too often), but it wouldn't make good business sense to spend extra developing time and money porting the game to a weaker system that is no longer being heavily marketed.

The reticence to post about the LEGO Marvel game makes no sense. Brickset already contains a lot more than just sets, including all of the video games. I'd think any major LEGO-related release would be fair game. Er, no pun intended. I always come here for LEGO news, I'd be surprised if this wasn't mentioned.

Yeah, I'm not understanding what's with all the comments about this being Brickset, and not about video games. It's a Lego video game, and it's not like we have news articles for every piece of Lego-licensed clothing, which would be far more ridiculous than ONE article about a Lego Marvel video game! The games are important, and most of them are great!

^^^^^ It wouldn't make sense to be on the Wii, the Wii U is out, and the Lego City: Undercover game is for it as well. Also, the Wii U is backwards compatible with all systems, being able to use Wii games, and Gamecube, N64, SNES, and NES are going to be on virtual console.

Im a fairly avid gamer. I really enjoy these lego games. Some of them ive never played but ive watched my wife play. They are great to watch.
Id encourage people to play them like a television series.... two three chapters a session... enjoy.
