Nice! It's $150, yes!!

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 18 Jan 2013 18:05

£119.99, about what I expected so that is perfectly satisfactory. The more I have looked the inside though, the more I have found myself a little bit disappointed with that aspect of the model, but that's what loose parts are for! I am not a huge fan of the Palace sign either actually, the bricks with round Technic pin holes just look wrong to me alongside the rest of the letters which are very square.

Seems like a fair price to me... i still can't get over how that woman minifig in the red top and trousers is exactly the same as the one in the pet shop in every respect. i know the minifigs aren't the focus of these sets but there really is no excuse for it

Posted by maniac in United Kingdom, 18 Jan 2013 18:22

Decent price really. Was expecting it to be higher in GBP.

Posted by Firox 5000 in United Kingdom, 18 Jan 2013 18:25

For £119.99, the price doesn't look too bad. However it's a shame the interior of the model has several flaws.

niiiiice

Posted by maniac in United Kingdom, 18 Jan 2013 18:27

^^Think that's part of the fun with Modulars though, can shape it to how you want it (with additional parts of course!)

Posted by Tocko in Slovenia, 18 Jan 2013 18:29

Price is very reasonable. DE price is actually 10€ lower than previous modulars (except Town Hall). I just hope they don't raise the price as they did with Hunted House.

Posted by Graysmith in Sweden, 18 Jan 2013 18:59

I'd say there's a snowball's chance in hell those will be the actual prices. They no doubt jack it up by quite a lot by March, just like they did with the Haunted House.

What are you talking about? Only once do I remember the price going up from the press release.

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 18 Jan 2013 19:46

TGBG is right. Only HH was raised pre-sale.

$150 for almost 2,200 pieces is very fair indeed. I share many other members' disappointment with the tiny screening room, somewhat bare interior and unnecessary corner location. But I do love the building's design and will definitely buy it.

Did anyone else notice that one of the bullet points mentions three other Modular sets, but not 10197 Fire Brigade? Looks like this could be your last chance to buy that one at a reasonable price. (Amazon US is currently selling it at a 21% discount: http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Creator-Fire-Brigade-10197/dp/B002O064J0).

It's gorgeous, but I just don't like that it's a corner set. It's difficult enough having these gorgeous buildings without having to build more roads in your town to accommodate the corner sets.

Posted by The Baron in United Kingdom, 19 Jan 2013 04:56

£119.00 is outrageously high!

Psst... Graysmith is right - beware the Haunted House price switcheroo.

Posted by train_nut in United Arab Emirates, 19 Jan 2013 07:41

I will need to modify it somewhat so I can have tiered seating in mine.

Posted by Ap3X in United Kingdom, 19 Jan 2013 08:01

Over 100 more pieces for the same money as Pet Shop - I think £119.99 is reasonable. Was VERY disappointed with the HH price hike though (so only bought one) - hope it doesn't happen again.

@fikko3107, I have added a link to download the HD designer Video on Eurobricks!

What modular building is it connection to on the 9th picture? It doesn't look familiar but i like the detail at the bottom of it :)

Oh perfect, LEGO has to bring this out in March when I've already got all of my budget slated for the brand new Re-Issue of Transformers Fortress Maximus, which is twice the price for this awesome LEGO set in Canada. Looks like I'll have to wait for my Birthday in May to get this puppy as a present to myself.

I don't mind the lack of detail on the interior in all honesty, it gives it a more Period Piece Theatre build look to it, instead of the more modern looking over-crowded cinemas. I mean if LEGO had made a Silver City based design here with ten or more theatres it would have been priced the same as the Death Star and overcrowded with a bunch of unnecessary garbage. I think I'll pick up a few extra pieces and things from LEGO to MOC a few additional elements. It can't be too hard to make curtains to cover up the windows so that light doesn't interfer with the viewing pleasure.

All those clever little nods to AFOLs is quite impressive too. If this winds up being the only Modular I ever get I'd still be content, though it'd be nice to get others to connect with it. But I'm definitely aiming for this to be the first one I pick up. Provided I can save up enough to get it before LEGO.com sells out.

If it says at $149.99 then it is definitely worth it.
I know people worry about a pre-sale raise but the HH is NOT a modular set either...
Lets see what happens here...

But I'm guessing most people that are on this site are going to wait for this to be on sale anyway and not buy the set at RRP.

I've just noticed one of the posters "Mystery Of The Monorail", Are they hinting at something????? ??????

Posted by arl100 in United Kingdom, 19 Jan 2013 12:28

Exterior is great, interior is not so good. Not too worried about getting this modular.

I doubt I can afford it anyway as I have been buying older sets recently, plus I have my eye on the LOTR sets in June and the Tower of Orthanc. Just have to shelve this one.

Posted by fitzyfitz in United Kingdom, 19 Jan 2013 12:37

^^^^^yakop - it's the Town Hall.

Posted by ickleb in United Kingdom, 19 Jan 2013 14:26

love it! cant wait to add it to the ever growing collection!! the movies that they list sound great, do love the lego sense of humour. Do hope that due to the interest in the set they don't up the price.

Posted by BJMdotLEGO in Belgium, 19 Jan 2013 14:41

It looks gorgeous, but it shouldn't have been a corner building. Now it loses way too much space. Oh, and the car is rubbish.

Posted by Lego Lord Mayorca in United States, 19 Jan 2013 15:24

"Mystery of the Monorail"

Now Lego is just screwing with our heads! Hmph! I'm off to go hug my 6991 Monorail Transport Base a little tighter.

LEGO Shop posted the Designer Video on Facebook. Astrid, who designed 10224 Town Hall, also designed 10232 Palace Cinema.

I agree it loses too much space for a cinema as a corner building.....but I'm glad to get another Modular Building.
Can't wait building it!
And I'm happy it's below 150 EUR. It was hard to get together another additional 30 bucks for the Town Hall
and Haunted House even though I know we had way more bricks and longer building fun for the TH.

BTW I believe the three cinema posters are double-sided printed parts.
Like the ones in Ninjago's Spinjitzu Dojo and in the 2013 list of new parts.

Posted by TheLegoExpert in United States, 20 Jan 2013 14:08

I don't even know why everyone is complaining? The set is at a reasonable price, nice piece count and it looks amazing! I for sure will buy this set because I'm collecting all the modulars and all I need it this set and Market Street. I think everyone is saying they won't be buying this set but you probably will end up buying it anyway. I also get that the interior is a little bland and there may be alot of stickers. That's what spare pieces are for, add more seats, more decor on the bottom floor, that's what lego is for! You could probably buy spare parts to copy the second floor and give the palace cinema 3 floors! I also think the car is pretty cool, at least you get one. Anyways I love this set and i will be buying it when it comes out.'

Posted by Adzbadboy in United Kingdom, 21 Jan 2013 04:28

It should of been £99.99 not £119.99

Posted by fikko3107 in Indonesia, 21 Jan 2013 05:14

Thanks a lot,@brankell5566,@grogall,@DaveBey and @blueduck37. I really appreciate it!

Posted by astarguy in United States, 21 Jan 2013 10:28

Having seen this set in person and getting great pics of the finished model i must say it is a must have for me great detail for the money. very big corner building. i was not really interested in buying this theme of lego's but after putting the pet shop together for my wife i am growing into them.

Posted by The Sly Fox in United States, 22 Jan 2013 06:08

Can we assume that all of these posters are going to be stickers?
It would be a shame since the Modulars have been sticker-free up to now.

Posted by Lego Conductor in United States, 15 Feb 2013 13:26

Purchased yesterday at local Lego Shop for the VIP promo. Started the build today and yes it has stickers! At the moment leaving them off and will see how the finished build looks without them.
