    Vehicles of all sizes make a up a relatively large percentage of the projects on Cuusoo.  They vary greatly in scale, source, and function.

    These gorgeous "Tiny Trucks" by Robiwan are not only one of the best real world vehicles projects on Cuusoo but also one of my favorite LEGO builds, period. 

     

    These 4-wide wonders are masterworks of micro-building.  Each one is unique with no duplication of cab patterns.

    Many of the builds even have a basic level of functionality: compartments, gates, tow elements, dumping trailers, etc.

    To fully  appreciate these builds though you need to check out Robiwan's flickr page.  The following up close images are from the flickr account rather than the Cuusoo page.

    Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1The crane is delightfully posable with an extending boom and anchoring  support elements.

    Remote controlled DAF XF with EuroCombi trailer DAF XF, the big orange truck, really takes the prize with actually being power functions equipped and controlled

     

     

     

     

    Its Chances

    Personally I think this is a very strong project for Cuusoo.  Who doesn't love trucks?  I know not only I, but my kids would be over the moon for these things. 

    The scale of these trucks would prevent competition with the trucks of the City line, and their fine detailing and high part count distinguishes them from the smaller builds of the Creator series. 

    Robiwan does however appear to have used real world vehicles in this project.  That could lead to possible licensing issues.

    Note: I was quite astonished to see that of all the projects on Cuusoo, this project was also the Cuusoo staff pick of the day.  I can assure you this was a coincidence as I plan my picks a few weeks ahead.

    Cuusoo Clarifications

    There are two aspects of Cuusoo that have come to my attention as needing some clarification:

    • Why do some projects under review have less than 10,000 votes?

      This is because Cuusoo is constantly on the lookout for invalid accounts.   Underage votes and double voters, and people that break the code of conduct have their accounts deleted and the votes they gave go with them.  Therefore, sometimes the support for a project will go down.   This usually goes unnoticed, however the projects that archived 10k, usually include at least a few of these accounts.   So they drop below 10k as the accounts are removed.
       
    • "Purdue Pete won't get made because it is up against Space Troopers"

      This is a misconception, independent of whether or not LEGO will produce either set.  Some people are lead to believe that projects under review have only two fates: Production or Rejection, and given that only one project can get produced in a given review, that means even a great project won't get made if it is in review with a better one.  

      This is not inherently true as there is a third possibility, a Pass.  A project that is Passed is moved to the next review.  Now based on the last review, it is obvious that it is very difficult to get a Pass, I will grant you, but If LEGO chooses to do so, it can keep a project for future review. 

     

    Last week Poptropica came onto the stage and has been gathering support quite fiercely.  Many AFOLS have no idea what that is, and that is understandable because it is effectively an MMO targeted at the very young.  Other notable projects are the mini builds based on the Creator House line and a series of Star Wars themed Marble Runs.  My review of these projects and a showcase of all the projects that came out in the last week can be found here.

Those trucks are amazing! Lego needs something to replace the Racer theme, Trucks would be a great replacement.

And a Cuusoo pass is like seeing a giant squid. We find things to talk about, and know they are there, but you will never see one in person in your lifetime. :-p

I'm really impressed and am not normally in to non-MF mini builds. They work so well, almost a competitor to similar size die-cast vehicles.
Now make them transform... just kidding, please don't!

The tiny trucks are great indeed. Hopefully get the same Brickset Boost that your articles here usually provide.

One typo correction: On that last bullet-point, I think you meant Space Troopers, not Galaxy Patrol.

Personally, I am not someone for trucks, Creator etc. (I am a TFOL) so I don't think I will support this project. But this is the kind of ideas CUUSOO needs, not some of the junk that is out there. Good job, Robiwan!

These are nice sets, but they probably won't be released due to Lego City's vehicles.

I would easily see 2 of them for $25 and they sell well for 2 big ones, or $8 for 2 small ones.

These are beautiful designs and I'm supporting. I'm sort of surprised by people saying they "won't support". Is it so much to go out of your way to sign in and support something for free?

These trucks are great, and are worthy of a vote on cuusoo. I already have some mini creator kits (hotrod, pickup truck etc) which are not to minifigure scale, so I think there is a place for some of the trucks.

As to whether people will or will not support projects, I think people have the right to say, "These are good, but won't get my vote", as cuusoo is being used to gauge support for production. Even if people aren't prepared to say I will buy this at the end of the day, how about supporting the designer, and leave a positive comment for them.

These are fantastic. I'm a minifig scale AFOL myself, but these these have inspired me to MOC some cars and buildings to go along with these trucks...

I think there's another reason the trucks may be a winner. One of the goals of Cuusoo is to explore new markets. These trucks could sell in truck stops along motorways. Which trucker wouldn't like a Lego model of their truck on the dash?

Gorgeous, thanks for spotting that! I would pay a fortune and certainly supported at CUUSOO. They look so similar to some 1:87 scale plastic models!
