It's been a slow week for news so I'll have to resurrect an old story :-)

The April store calendar for the US is out and as you can clearly see shows the release of Prince Of Persia sets on the 26th April! Bizarrely I'm still not allowed to re-post the set pictures here: LEGO/Disney want to keep them under wraps to avoid 'spoiling the movie', apparently...

Oh, and a TRU insider in the US says that set 8404 'Fan Choice' has been given the name 'LEGO City Public Transport' on their computer system. So it could be interesting. Can anyone remember what the choices were?

I still think they will come out at the beginning of April as the offer for the free brick is valid from 1st April and must include a POP set. I think the 26th is just when they are doing a special offer.

I wonder what public transportation could be. Thats not a very detailed name. it could be anything from a bus to a train.

I think it is 3221 Lego Truck. It looks like a great set!

Disney is a little late, we've known the names and seen pictures of the Prince of Persia sets for a long time now. :)

Btw, the choices were Public Transportation (which won, yay!), Truck Stop, and City Square.

Interesting that the Public Transportation won! BTW I still have the concept art if anyone is interested! :-P

How about the closed BETA version of Lego Universe that has been launched this thursday? Isn't that news?

What about that new chrome stormtrooper that showed up in the database? Does that mean we'll start seeing chrome stormtrooper minifigs, sans the magnet?

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 12 Mar 2010 16:39

@iabstract Yes. Huw told me in a previous post that they are being released without the magnets, I think in Spain. I might be wrong about the country though....

PoP sets have been on sale in Copenhagen Airport Lego store for over a month...

Ha! Give away the ending? Pictures have been out for months, and I'll bet other movie information has been leaked as well.
They didn't keep such a tight leash on the indy 4 sets, did they?

iabstractand Zacherano: actually I requested it was put up on the site
It is a promo so far in Spain, but I have heard of one in Portugal.
The promo is spend 30 Euro and you get it for free.
The U.S. is supposed to get it in October.
I don't believe it will be randomly inserted, just for TRU.
I was able to get one off ebay.
I am curious as to what that city set is going to be like.
I am not a city fan, but it sounds pretty cool.

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 13 Mar 2010 13:14

@alpha 40 Thanks. I already have one, though, but I suppose it is always good to have another when it comes to a rare figure like this, especially a Stormtrooper. You can always have more of those! I can't wait for this summer, but on the other hand, I am apprehensive about the prices of all the new great items, especially the HP, SW, and collective minifigs.

The city stuff is a truck stop like a shell kinda i guess it is like a gas station / rest stop so you are going to see more tractor trailers coming soon and i dont know if any body knows this but there is a new small police boat out it like 4 inch long it is a easter set only at target. Does any one know when world racer sets will launch i think it is july for the small sets and augest for the big sets but im not sure i think the same think with the kingdom. And does any one know when lego universe like battle mode will launch.

YES! Double points for POP sets on the final week. I hope the cheap ones come with an ostrich.

Posted by darthvader321 in United States, 14 Mar 2010 07:50

Huw, did you know that PoP set pictures and more are on Brickipedia.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 14 Mar 2010 13:08

I know they are all over the place but LEGO are still being a bit funny about them for reasons best know them themselves...

I will redisplay them here on April 1st.

Hopefully we see the return of the monorail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm very happy about the fact the LEGO City Public Transport has won the vote! If the concept art is anything to go by, I reckon the set will feature a non-powered monorail or tram, since the bus came out last year. Maybe they'll use the IJ 4 wide track system for a monorail?
