    Daily Mirror promotion, March 2010

The UK newspaper the Daily Mirror has another LEGO promotion starting next Saturday. This time there's 6 mini Racers sets to collect: 30030, 30033, 30034, 30035, 7801 and 7802 (thanks Shamu1Believe for identifying the latter two).

For those that don't know about these promotions, you get a free set when you buy the paper from certain outlets (WHS again I suspect) or you can send off tokens to have them sent to you.

Thanks to Andrew for posting the image in the Brickish Association forums.

It's a pity it's Racers. :(

I haven't even got my City sets yet (even though they took the money) so I'll pass.

Hmm... interesting.
@Comm.Orbit: Ah AH! Hello Orbit! Glad to see you! ;)

Glad they're racers. (i live in the U.S.)

cool, if only they had newspaper promo's in america. oh well. i'm not a fan of racers att all, but i like any legos that are free.
what do you mean by tokens? like in the UK, or if you are in some other country you send it in and they give you the lego set.

Those sets look cool! Too bad they seem to be UK-only though. Maybe they'll show up at Target one day, like the Star Wars and City Easter promo sets.

The car in the upper right corner looks like 8661-1 carbon star...

@marcello: LOL, you're right! I thought about the same thing!

Hey Alemas. :D

Anyway I can see people buying these just for parts.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 13 Mar 2010 17:42

@Comm.Orbit: Um, well, the parts there are fairly common in other Racers sets...

in my opinion, they look horrible.

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 13 Mar 2010 22:07

These are no big deal, i mean who would't want free legos? but these do not earn any crazyness like other promos like those super awesome crazy cool star wars sets!!!
Alemas: true, but you can never have enough lego bricks :D plus they are free! (well minus the cost of the newspaper)

The two that you don't know were Target's Christmas "Stocking Stuffer" in the US. The black #3 one is 7802 and the red #7 one is 7801.

I wish there was something like this is the US...

I'm sure this news post will result in us Americans crying about "not another Daily Mirror promo not available to us in the States!" but come on! We get exclusive promos here in America (TRU has had several in the past few years since I have been building). We get the exclusive Brickmaster sets if we subsrcibe! We get the exclusive sets at Target for each holiday season like Xmas and Easter (even Halloween last year had Powerminers sets).

Soooo, you've got to take what you can get while the getting is good. If you really want the sets from overseas, email someone and maybe they won't gauge prices on you and sell you these sets.

If I lived in the UK I'm sure I would take advantage of these promos and would turn to ebay or brickshelf or brickset users and get these sets mailed to me. In this day and age, the world has been shrunk down to a size that we can easily communicate with people on the other side of an ocean and arrange a way to acquire these items easily.

bmwlego: true, very true. but the UK uasally does get more lego associated stuff, like lego games, and all the awesome none-city advent calendars. of course lego was made in the UK (well not really, it was made in denmark)
so i guess they should get more stuff. although i dont think that the americnas should be crying becuase they didn't the stupid little racers, after all, alot of other countries dont have ANY exclusives. so be thankful we do have some exclusives.

Copy of the e-mail I just sent to Huw:

"Today while shopping at Aldi in Evansville, IN, a grocery store chain here in the U.S. (I'm not sure if they are in the UK too), I saw a display on the end of the aisle where they had Racers sets 8192, 8194, and 8195 and Creator set 5864 for only $3.99 USD. It's possible they had Racers 8193 and Creator 5865 but sold out, since some shelves were empty. This is a discounted price, and the first time I've ever seen Lego at Aldi."

I don't know if all Aldi stores have them, but it might be worth checking out if you like racers or the little creator sets.
