My only concern is the way the wings seem to sag because of the sheer weight of the pieces. I understand that is an unavoidable issue. However it is a concern for me.

have to admit, this one looks pretty damn good! I'll not be getting it, because it's not up to minifigscale.

The fact that this is the first ever UCS reissue makes me hopeful for another go at the millennium falcon though :)

I have the original 7191 model and the wings have never sagged at all. If they use the same method of attaching the wings to the hull then it shouldn't be a problem this go around either.

Geez, I never thought I'd see a UCS remake. VERY disappointed as there are other ships they could've made that haven't already been done. On the positive side at least I will save $200.

The wings themselves on 7191 don't sag, but their weight strains the technic pin attachment points to the body such that the four wings don't extend perfectly uniform. They're prone to coming a little loose and it doesn't take much to jar it completely loose. The mechanism to open and close them is difficult.

The photos show that the new model is attached with beams so it looks like these problems have been addressed.

With all due respect Obiron, remakes/rereleases are important because people do miss out on some Lego Models. For example I missed out on the 2008 Gunship...so I am really excited to get one this year. Besides a lot of the vehicles from the films have been done. Not all, but most.

This model looks gorgeous. I don't care if it's not new-- it always amazes me when TLG revisits a classic concept and blows their original attempt out of the water. Sure, TLG could keep introducing more and more obscure ships, or they could bring their oldest design (and possibly the most iconic ship in the Star Wars universe) up to date so it no longer looks like a shabby relic compared to its more recent, less important brethren.

The nose on this attempt is a little bit too blunt, but other than that the proportions seem all right. The construction of the engines is stellar, with 98585 appearing in a non-transparent color for the first time and some lovely creativity in the front intakes and the rear exhaust nozzles (I know they're probably not actual exhaust nozzles, but I don't know a more appropriate term for that part of an engine/rocket in a sci-fi context).

The main part that disappoints me are the little shields around the tips of the blaster cannons, but I have to concede that there really hasn't been a better-shaped piece to fulfill that task as far as I'm aware, and it's too small a detail for something more complex to really be effective.

@Demarco Murray - Not necessarily, buyers for that original UCS X-Wing are likely to be new collectors of the UCS line rather than people who want a large scale model of the X-Wing, therefore, the price will probably not fall, it usually does not for other remakes.

Mixed thoughts and emotions here. The remake doesn't bother me financially as I don't hold onto my 7191 original for $$$ purposes. Besides, I doubnt this will hurt the value of the original as has been (mostly) proven with the multiple versions of the AT-AT, AT-TE, Slave I, etc. I'm always for seeing new and improved models.

I am bugged that LEGO is now remaking the UCS when there is still so much more that they could explore with UCS before having to revisit previous models.

But I guess LEGO has to go somewhere with the large extension they have on the SW license...

BTW, this will make 4 'official' SW UCS models out at the same time. 5 for those who count 10188 Death Star as a UCS model.

Although according to the photosteam this is not branded as UCS, despite the size, piece count and display/placard.

Appears that we have new 'round' elements in the engine-exhaust tubes. Greebling seems to be diminished.

Not sure what to think of this ship. Similar to complaints leveled against the B-Wing, something just doesn't seem right with this rendition.

I guess I am just too in love with my 7191. It IS the set that brought me out of my dark ages, after all ;-)

Are you kidding me, LEGO? I don't like this set at all. I was so excited for a remake because I hate the old one. And now this looks just like the old one. It's white, the engines are too small, and the body is not hexagonal yet again. And again with the minifig scale R2-D2 on a UCS X-Wing? That should not be happening. The nose looks terrible as well. I guess I'll keep my own UCS X-Wing around longer.

I don't own the original collectors edition X-wing... but lord knows I tried on multiple occasions. Now I can happily look the other way at re-seller prices for the old model and focus whole-heartedly on getting the modern one. Besides, I wasn't that attached to the old model anyway.

Interesting, but I don't know if it is significantly better than my 7191. I never had wing sag, but they did tend to come off the pegs a little, causing them to become misaligned. I do see some issues here with the laser cannon barrels not being parallel, but the pieces don't look tightly assembled either, and that might solve that issue. The R2-D2 is fine with it. Minifig astromechs aren't really to scale with minifig humans, so it really can't match both. Nose doesn't look quite right to me.

I missed the original X-Wing and don't feel the need to get one all that much since I prefer capital ships.
However, this new one looks really nice and the video shows it's swooshable. :)
I think the UCS B=Wing, which is mostly plates, is a rip-off at $200 and should be priced at $150.
I have no such thoughts on this new UCS X-Wing, $200 seems reasonable for something this solid and with a good mix of blocks and plates.

Are those official Lego photos? Seems odd that they would release photo's with wings that visually sag when in the closed position and guns that do not line up (top view). I do not see this model as a significant improvement over the original but perhaps it looks better "in the flesh". At least my wallet is happy that it doesn't have cough up another $200.00 for "the habit" !

Firstly, I do not own the 7191 and god knows how I have tried to obtain one but the price is through the roof for UCS sets of that era. And I understand why: looking at the modern UCS sets, they do not give me that feeling of awe that the older sets like the Snowspeeder, Tantive, TIE Interceptor and of course the granddaddy of them all, ISD. So in comes the only re-issue of a UCS ever, it looks too 'clinical' than classic, probably thanks to the new builds and new elements, like the new nose design. I'll definitively get the new one, since there's no way I'm going to pay for the old one. IMO both are in their own league as far as collecting is concerned: 10240 is not equal to 7191. 10240 is a redesign.

And about the a UCS set not being minifig scale... I mean honestly, the X-Wing is an interceptor and hence a small craft. Minifig scale would mean a regular play set. The whole idea of a UCS set is size and detail. So not all SW vehicles translate well in minifig scale. It would either be too small or too large and cost prohibitive.

Minifig one was cheaper and had a perfect minifig scale. Shame no orthanc yet hope they reveal that soon officially.Another x wing just seems like a waste of time as weve had god knows how many!!! I never got an xwing perhpas i'll pick up the 2012 one on sale hmmm.

Hmm, can't decide if it's brilliant or poor! Loads of the details look brilliant, and from some angles it looks superb, but it does look awkward too. I love the wing mechanism, the guns, engine, cockpit and other bits; but the nose does seem clumsy and somehow the side shots seem wrong, like a fan's sketch of the shape rather than the real, clean shape.
That's the aspect that's always turned me off UCS, I think the compact minifig scale Tantive IV, X-Wing, various TIE-Fighters and Falcon all look better than the UCS versions; I adore the UCS Lambda Shuttle and wouldn't say no to the Super Star Destroyer, but apart from that UCS doesn't grab me.

Saying that, maybe seeing it in the flesh will turn me round, I thought the B-Wing looked better than the photos could convey, and there is a lot of it I do like.

Why are most people complaining? If you don't want it, don't buy it.

I have the 7191 and will propably buy this one too.

It's more detailed than the 7191 ( i.e. targetsystem in cockpit). The system for the wings is better than the old one, so it has everytihng a remake should have, more detail, better design... ( and of course it will look much like the 7191 set, it's a x-wing, duh).

While, I like the look of this, I really wish they would have finished the Rebel ships in UCS "scale" first. We have a an X-Wing, Snowspeeder, Y-Wing, and B-Wing. They should have release an A-Wing now, then next year release this.

Second, why are they using the minifig R2-D2 when they have released a UCS set with the printed R2 head on UCS Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter. They could have used the same print pattern, just change the colors to blue and print it on a silver head?

Regardless, I'll buy it and make some changes.

Great looking model. However I can't help wondering whether if I was a designer showing off my work on youtube, whether I would have made sure the sticker (yes a 1x2 size sticker on £170 set!) on the firing/missile computer was actually stuck on straight. :-/

I really don't like the look of the inside of the wings (The beams that link the wings to the folding mechanism in the body.)

It looks great and all, but they have already done this. There are so many vehicles in the SW galaxy that deserve a UCS model. They haven't even done a TIE Fighter yet! I personally can't wait for a 1:1 figure scale AT-AT, which would be soooo awesome... give it to me now!!!

I cannot imagine how they could relase it with such terrible blunt nose. The most amazing part is the dark-gray bricks in the middle that makes overall look just silly - like an open beak of a scared four winged goose. The engines looks good in detail but seems too small (in diameter) compared to the rest of the model, torpedo tube is located too far to the back - and god only knows where it's shape was taken from. Adding slightly better but still odd laser's flashback suppressors (how hard it is to make an arch part with a hole in the middle - it could be usefull in many other sets), lack of octagonal shape between nose and cockpit and general "flimsy" feeling makes me simply dissapointed. My wallet will be fat and happy this year from what i see...
