Iron Man 3 sets in the shops already

Iron Man 3 sets in handThe movie isn't released for another two months but Brickset member zsgraak has found the three Iron Man 3 sets on the shelves of the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Chicago already, and purchased 76006 Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle.

Iron Man 3 sets in handI don't know exactly when they are supposed to be available, but given the fuss that was made last week when pictures were available at Barnes and Noble, I suspect not yet.

I guess we'll find out whether the 'Brickset effect' causes them to disappear suddenly; then we'll have our answer.

If you're nearby and fancy grabbing them early, I suggest you do so ASAP.

Update: According to this page at Marvel.com, they are supposed to hit the shelves on March 7th in the USA. (thanks Carl)

I don't know if it's just me but the box art looks horrid! (didn't pay attention to the box art when it was on B&N)

Probably get this set on sale, basically just for War Machine. No sense spending almost as much on the figure + shipping off ebay or bricklink, but man, underwhelmed. The Killian figure looks like you could make a great custom of Javier Bardem's villain from "Skyfall" though!

This set looks like the best of the lot to me, I am excited for its arrival in the UK.

I am loving the torso on Aldrich Killian and War Machine just looks like an all round excellent Minifigure.

If you go to the set page linked above there seems to also be someone selling all three sets on eBay.

Too bad I don't have time for a five hour car ride to Chicago *sigh*

Posted by aaclapham in United Kingdom, 18 Feb 2013 15:10

Why can't these be released in the UK by accident :(

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 18 Feb 2013 15:32

The box looks bland, the set looks lame, but the minifigures look awesome.

When I was at the Lego store last week they told me that new stuff was coming out today. I need to head on down and check.

My twin brother joked that you could use use Killian's head as a more accurate head for the most recent Snape minifigure. Because what's Snape without his trademark glow-in-the-dark head which everybody knows him for? =P

So the hunt begins...
Can't wait to get this set. War Machine looks awesome!

Cool can't wait for this set to come to the uk , not too bothered about the others. Strange we still haven't seen pics of the mos sets. Definitely digging the war machine and iron man figs though!

Posted by spency13 in United States, 18 Feb 2013 19:07

Oooh can someone who has this set make a review?? I really just want to see War Machine in all his glory...

Posted by The_Creator in United States, 18 Feb 2013 23:06

I'll have to check out my local: Target, TRU, and B&N…
But when I get this set, two words will describe why; War Machine. :P

I'm still not really digging these sets, but it's the story of 2013, really, isn't it? Lacklustre sets but fantastic minifigs.

Can't wait to get my hands on that boat..........

I guess plenty of listings (NO FIGS!) will turn up on eBay soon enough, just like the wolverine helicopter.

Note the sarcasm.

Must have been released elsewhere as well.

War Machine on EBay already.

Being the set is being sold in stores isn't Brickset by default allowed to post pictures now?

It isnt leaked if someone has bought it at a retail store.

Posted by mirandir in Sweden, 19 Feb 2013 04:51

Can't see this being a misstake unless the people doing the unpacking can't read. When a theme has a movie tie-in like this the boxes with the sets always has a big sticker that you can't miss that clearly states to not put the sets on shelves before date X.

^ It wouldn't be the first time that a Discovery Centre has jumped the gun - Brandenburg Gate, anybody ?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 19 Feb 2013 05:51

^^^ Yes I don't see why not, I've re-enabled their display.

I predict some enterprising LEGO fan somewhere is going to purchase a pair of Stark's mansions, build them, and connect them to make a more properly sized mansion. Just a thought. Still think the "Ultimate Battle" looks uttery ridiculous. :P

I have a couple of friends in the Chicago area. I'll tell them to pick up some of them.

Posted by joehead10 in United States, 20 Feb 2013 13:46

Just called the Discovery Store in Kansas City and they don't have them. Also disappointed about the sets (love the minifigs). Haven't heard a peep about sets to go with Thor 2 this November - anybody hear anything yet?

Posted by clowndiscus in United States, 21 Feb 2013 11:02

the guy selling the war machine from texas also has sold the lone ranger and tonto

Posted by brixton in Canada, 21 Feb 2013 13:03

I am also very underwhelmed by these sets.

Posted by MattDawson in United Kingdom, 22 Feb 2013 12:42

I spotted these in Lego Watford. :P

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 24 Feb 2013 02:41

Saw this set at TRU Rego Park. The boat looks ugly but it's worth it for the figs. But don't buy it at the Rego Park TRU. Their prices are way above retail and their own website.

Posted by ShatteredGnome in United States, 05 Mar 2013 02:42

Amazon.com is already shipping them, apparently they've had them since March 1st, though presumably LEGO will be rolling them out on the 7th, this Thursday.
