The Dorling Kindersley book LEGO Minifigures Character Encyclopedia is due out on May 1st. DK has recently published example spreads from the book so we can get a feel for what it's going to be like.

Images of the exclusive minifig that will come with it, a toy soldier, have also been posted online, by Asian website minifigs.net.

It's 208-pages long and will probably include series 10, so with the exclusive soldier figure, that will make the total number of figures to be featured either 161 or 170, depending on whether the Team GB figs are included. I wonder what'll be on the other pages?

You can pre-order now from Amazon:

Does anyone know if this will get a German version?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 08 Mar 2013 08:19

Do they usually?

Posted by pd66 in United Kingdom, 08 Mar 2013 08:31

From the blurb on the DK site -

"You can also explore themed pages taking you through various locales like a rock concert, a summer party and the beach."

I guess that will fill up some of those extra pages?

Again, Lego should make full sets that featured more than one of this guys. Such as a Rome set with Ceasar and Roman soldier.

Dorling Kindersley made german Versions of most of the other Lego-Books, so i am pretty confident there will be one for this book too.

Looks good. I might get it infact.

Looks like as well as each character getting their own page, each series will have a double page spread. So that's 20 pages (10 double page spreads) right there.

Can hardly wait for May! :D

This will be nice, but I don't like that they are giving them personalities that do not match mine. I guess he who writes first writes history. But their likes and dislikes aren't what I have in my head for my MFs.

I hope the have the GB Minifigs. That would be sooooooooo Cool!

Posted by 48bones48 in United States, 08 Mar 2013 09:48

^i have one GB figure and it's awesome
but I think that it will be around may so it might have series 10
and did anyone else see the a printing and side leg printing?

Posted by Targellian in United Kingdom, 08 Mar 2013 10:44

I'm guessing from "...various locales like a rock concert, a summer party..." they're including pages on the minifig accessories sets, eg 850486 will be the rock concert

Pretty sure there was an image of it containing the new 'golden' fig in series 10 as well.

Did no one notice the Toy Soldier printing on the shako is different than the shako on the image? Interesting how that came to be.

Otherwise, I am excited for this book. I don't love all of the CMFs, but I've enjoyed enough of them and that Toy Soldier is not one to be missed!

The clown page says that the only characters with printed noses are the two clowns and the werewolf.

But S8 bat has a printed nose, as does the monkey (from zoo keeper) and the teddy (from sleepyhead). I'm not sure if the latter two are characters, but the bat is. Lizard man, S8 alien villain and gorilla guy all have printed noses too although these are not on normal heads.

I think i am more excited for the minifig rather than the book. anyone else?

Posted by Ben J in Germany, 09 Mar 2013 05:24

What I notice about this:

-No Series higher than S8 on the cover.

-No series higher than S8 mentioned in the example spreads.

I guess if the rumors are true that they're going to make 16 series, it would make sense to split at 8.

Okay, I just saw that the cover says "More than 160 Minifigures"...

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 09 Mar 2013 13:17

^ there's a picture of the series 10 double page spread online somewhere, as well as a page for the gold figure. So I think we can safelly assume it will contain series 1-10.

Hey, that cover looks different :D

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 11 Mar 2013 05:41

^Looks like series 9 (movie star) and 10 (baseball catcher) are on the cover after all.

Posted by MrMonsieurGreen in United States, 11 Mar 2013 09:32

Groan, i have just got to get myself one of those gold mini figs

Posted by Ben J in Germany, 11 Mar 2013 16:02

At 5000 figs worldwide, how high is the probability of ever getting a Mr Gold?

Posted by Redbullgivesuwind in United Kingdom, 12 Mar 2013 11:37

I have to buy it as some of my minifigures may be in it. And when they get back they will demand a copy to point themselves out.

Posted by Joefish in United Kingdom, 13 Mar 2013 12:53

Damn, I really liked the look of that toy soldier when his parts were leaked, and would have liked a load of them. Now it looks like he'll be pretty rare, if you only get one with the book.

Posted by csilla77 in Hungary, 13 Mar 2013 17:04

Looks good. I might get it infact.
