Detailed LEGO furniture is a LEGO subject that always fascinates me. It employs micro-scale techniques but applies them to minifigure scaled objects and surroundings.Brixe is one of my favorite LEGO creators hands down, but they also set the standard for which I "grade" LEGO furniture. Brixe has an amazing skill for very tiny details which they use to bring a lot of life to home decor and vehicles alike.
This Living Room is but one of many examples of Brixe's detailed work.
I find so much wonderment in looking at each element in Brixe's furniture collections. How elegantly each LEGO "brick" is used.The 1 x 2 with one stud is pretty common for drawers but using them for cabinets is one of those obvious things that somehow gets overlooked.
The horns used as table legs is so obvious when you look at it but I am not sure I would have ever have come to that usage on my own.
I seriously doubt the wicker chair is using LEGO standards, and I am not sure it could support a minifig but that is not the point. I had a chair that looked just like that! Using the coiled whip as rocking elements is brilliant. Also, not all minifig scale designs have to be minifig functional. Nobody complains about 1 x 2 with one stud drawers not pulling out, so why quibble over a great looking chair even if it can't support a figure.About the only issue I really have with this set is that the TV is obviously out of date with today's standards... it is still a brilliant build (with some very nice stereo equipment too), but its dated scale can be easily addressed.

A week of Cuusoo
This was a pretty solid week for Cuusoo. Lots of really good builds were introduced. So good in fact that I could not make up my mind between my nostalgia for the new Ghost Busters Station (quite a run on Ghostbusters lately) and this Barnes and Noble and Starbucks modular. So I picked them both. I really suggest you take a good look at this modular. At first I thought it was lacking in internal details but the more I really looked at it, the more I liked it.
