Cool, It's going on during my birthday! Although I am not much of a fan of Design byME (WAY too expensive!) whoever wants to should buy some stuff if they want. :-)

Darn it! I just bought a $60 lego set, and now this? I don't think I'll be able to do this one! :(

If it wasn't EXPENSIVE I might actually buy something!! It makes sense why it is expensive, but I still wish it wasn't THAT expensive!!!

All you have to do is spend 58 dollars Canadian?! That's easy... just take 10 bricks and there you go!

EXPENSIVE!!!

I only do Pick-a-Brick! I strongly advise non-digital lego builders to order the more 'helpful' pieces there.

I agree, pick-a-brick is WAY better. You could also design something on LDD and just order the parts on PAB.

I hate LDD. Cool design software, suckish prices. Four flat pieces and it told me it was $13.39! Crazy.

I agree with all of the above. I made a set of ten minifigs, and they priced it at $35! Ridiculous!!!!

...so no in-store pick ups then?

Those have got to be the most obvious passwords I've ever seen.

The New Toy Story 3 sets are out at toysrus.com

Ten minifigs for $35?! Come on, I can get minfig parts on Ebay for less then that.

I've only used LDD once before to order something, and fortunately, that was before the addition of a flat $10 handling fee. Now, I completely agree that the pricing for LDD is outrageous, but I had never thought to look at the pick-a-brick function, previously assuming it didn't have the same parts as LDD. So, thanks for pointing me to that. After checking a number of parts, I can see a price difference of $0.05-0.10 each on average between pick-a-brick and LDD. Does pick-a-brick have that painful $10 handling fee?

@Captain Blockbeard: I'm pretty sure PAB doesn't have the stupid $10 handling fee. I hate that fee!!!!

They should make an option where they don't print out the instructions and box, just bag up the pieces and send them to you. That's probably where most of the cost comes from. You should be able to opt for the box and instructions if you want, but not HAVE to pay for them if it's not necessary.

I just tried the promo code on an order of a $27 PAB bag and a $25 set and it worked. I also tried it without any PAB or DesignByMe product and only a $80 set, and it still worked. Turns out this isn't exclusive to DesignByMe products. It works for all of S@H!
