The LEGO Factory Hobby Train, designed by LEGO AFOL's is half off at S@H. It is currently on backorder, but with a sale like this, it probably won't be long before it is sold out for good.
Hmmm... only $50.
I mentioned that this set was on clearance on Nov 24th, before it was on backorder. I also mentioned that the Holiday train was on clearance as well on the 24th, 4 days ago but it was buried in another thread. It is a shame that we can't start our own threads. This set is listed under the 9v section on LEGO S@H which LEGO has stated that they will no longer release new 9v trains (as stated in an interview on brickjournal.com). I ordered this set for the ridiculous amount of parts (1,000 plus), train specialty parts (wheels, windows, couplings, etc.) and huge 50% discount. The parts inventory on peeron let me know what was included so I knew what I was getting before shelling out the money. I also bought a 2nd Holiday Train for 45 bucks. I wanted to take advantage of the free shipping and I still got to use my 5 dollar brickmaster coupon. I saved/spent a lot but I won't be buying another train set for years and years to come.
David,I bought the Holiday Train myself. This is an awesome set and you won't be disappointed. My wife bought me this set for Christmas last year and I loved building it with her. 2 of the cars are kind of plain but that's what is great about LEGO. If you don't like these plain cars, you can design your own, more detailed cars to travel along the tracks.Enjoy the set.Brian
Even though I never got into the train sets I'm sorry that Lego is dumping them. It'll be interesting to see what replaces the current product line and how well it integrates with current track scale
Does anybody have difficulties with LDD. Invited to load update patch for v2 yesterday and the update version is very slow, and all of the bricks are very dark in colour :( Waiting to hear from lego on that one. With the hobby train at 1/2 price i am going to get second copy. Holiday train does not appeal due to overall lack of realism, but the engine looks good.
I order two Hobby Trains last Saturday, 11/25. It said it was on back order for 14 days, but they show yesterday, 11/28. So they seem to be back in stock now. :- )
Holiday Train seems sold out already :(
DavidMy Hobby and Holiday Trains came today in the mail as well as 3734 Blue Train Windows and 5 of the Batman Keychains (for friends).I also check the sales and deals at Lego daily. I too have found that items are sold out before I even know they are on sale. I have also tried to make a habit of calling shop at home. They have special phone sales each week and the items change every Wednesday. The only problem is that you have to call each and every week to find out what is on sale.Enjoy the sets!
Just ordered 2 from S@H in the UK - on back order but worth waiting for. The holiday train was available last night but is now sold out :(Andy
David1985 > in Belgium. I said "already" because I saw that it was at half price only two days ago :D(The Hobby Train accepts backorder though)
I ordered mine on UK S@H, according to my invoice it may take up to 30 days to arrive...
Thanks for your comment David, was hoping their delivery date was over-estimated... :-)
I managed to order a Holiday Train before it sold out (for Ireland at least) as well as the Hobby Train (albeit after it went to being on backorder). These will be my first train purchase! I got some plastic track seeing as I don't really want to fork out for track and motor to get setup with 9V system. The ordinary track will at least allow me to do nice custom static displays. (well, manual I guess rather than completely static :)
Bought both at the Lego Shop in Bluewater today! :o) Now I just need some track and a 9v motor, as the wife wants it to go merrily around the bottom of the Xmas tree! :oSAlso got the Batcopter half price and a nice Advent Calendar. Shame they didn't have the motorised AT-AT, as that really would have made my day...M.
I ordered my (second) hobby train for 50% off online. Even though the Lego S&H website says it is backordered and will ship on Dec. 14, I got a notice they shipped it yesterday (Dec 2, Sunday!!)!
And mine was shipped today, December 7th! Very surprised, but very happy!
I hope I get mine by Feb. although I had some trouble while placing the order.
