Poptropica nears 10k, a request for some volunteers, plus links to sorted projects.
It was always clear that Poptropica would make the review, but out of nowhere, Poptropica has started a sprint towards 10k.
I am not too familiar with Poptropica, other than knowing it is an MMO whose target age group is in line with that of LEGO, but a set with an evil mad scientist bunny with a giant rabbit mecha has a lot of charm, regardless of where it is from.
Poptropica does have two extreme qualities that set it apart from all other projects on Cuusoo. First, it has over 2 million views. The second most viewed active project only has 250,000 views. The second quality is much more infamous. It is the only active project on Cuusoo with its comments disabled. The stated reason is that the comments were too frequently off topic.
Update: With 75 support to go, Cuusoo has opened comments back up on Poptropica.
Update: It has now achieved 10,000 supporters!
Guinea pigs needed
So, I have a lot of data. Now I want to test to see how far I can take it. I am looking for people who have supported a few Cuusoo pojects: from 3 to 10, maybe 15. If you would like to participate, please use this link (use the blog option) and include your Cuusoo ID. I will see if I can program a system that will accurately suggest other projects you will like based on your current support patterns.
You won't get a response from me right away as a lot of coding needs to be done, but I would like to have a data set of users that can evaluate the results. Thanks in advance.
A Week of Cuusoo
I have selected Brick Queen's Jurassic Park project for my "Pick of the Week." There are some more masterful MOCs for Jurassic Park on Cuusoo but this one best matches a viable playset with great presentation. Other interesting recent projects are a DSLR Camera, the Taipei 101, the Goonies (yes, another 80's movie ;), and another spectacular mini-Shuttle build from Teazza.
I have also initiated a coding project to start organizing projects by type. I will follow this up with more organization but so far I have five main categories:
I am sure there are more than a few people who will disagree with how I have parsed the projects but it is an ever evolving process at the moment.
