Ho-humm, perhaps I will be getting myself an imperial flagship. Was there something about an additional 10% off with a Myer store card?

Posted by jpmanalo in Australia, 22 Jun 2010 04:47

@kartoffelviking - Nothing was mentioned in the Myer catalogue regarding an additional 10%-off if you use a Myer store card. I have, however, seen rumours about that floating around the various LEGO fora on the Internet. I suggest that you call your local Myer store to find out whether there will be an extra discount for people using Myer store cards.

I wont make it to myer till friday,i hope theres a flagship and emerald night there for me.

Eh, my local Myer always has an utterly abysmal stock of LEGO. That and Big W's doing a sale in July, and since they sell their stuff cheaper than Myer already... yeah, it's fairly clear which I'd prefer.

@Dlakii - As I mentioned in my article, there are a number of sets that Myer will be stocking that Big W won't be stocking at all. Set 8214, 5489, 10194 and 10210 are Myer-exclusives, and in all likelyhood, won't be available at Big W stores.

Only 10194, 8214 and 5489 are listed as 'Exclusive to Myer'. But I have never seen any of the big 5-digit sets at BigW so if you want the fire station or Imperial Flagship you'd likely be stuck with Myer. (Target may have something in their sale but I would guess it's going to be other sets).

I was at Myer in Southland yesterday. They already have the full range out on display. It was HUGE. I have never seen Myer stock so much variety in lego. There was about half of the back wall full of lego, plus one aisle both sides, plus a section within the Toy Story area for all the Toy Story lego (except Garbage Truck Getaway). Then there was about another 8 pods/tables setup nearby with lots of stock of the bigger exclusive sets like the trains, imperial flagship, emerald night, fire brigade, etc.
Not sure what other Myer stores are doing, but I know I will definitely be going to Southland when the sale starts!!

I'd be interested to know when they will be stocking 7939 & 7937 as I haven't seen them at any of David Jones, Myer, Toys R Us, Target or Kmart at Bondi Junction.

Anyone know what the story is with Myer Charlestown? I was there ~2-3 weeks ago and couldn't see ANY toys out at all due to their renovations...hopefully they have something out when I have a squiz tomorrow...

Posted by jpmanalo in Australia, 22 Jun 2010 22:01

@xNick & @Vangalorr - I have heard, from various sources, that Myer only started putting out the new LEGO City Trains (and other LEGO sets) onto store shelves late last week - so I suggest that you look again at your local Myer store to see if they have the sets you are interested in purchasing.

@jpmanalo cheers, I was at Myer Bondi Junction on Saturday and the only large sets they had from the above were the fire brigade and the imperial flag ship. Guess Ill take another look tomorrow.

The Myer store at Frankston (Melbourne) had all the big sets on their shelves last weekend.

The Myer store in the Myer center (well duh!) in Brisbane had all the sets in large quantities, except The Emerald Night (darn), when I went in today. Hopefully they have it there on Thursday. It also had a 2m tall Darth Vader made of lego on display!

Anyone know how the Myer One discount works? I have one of the cards but I want to know if the people on the check out will know about this discount, ie is it noted anywhere so I can show them when they inevitably look confused and try to deny it?

Posted by duilim in Australia, 23 Jun 2010 20:46

For those of you looking for the Emerald Night train set, you better move quick. The Myer near me sold out by 9:15am - that's 15 mins after opening!!!

Posted by Branko in Australia, 23 Jun 2010 22:10

With a Myer One membership you get an additional 10% off Thursday and Friday.
The big sets are moving fast! There were only 4 of the Imperial Flagships left at noon today at Myer Highpoint (Melbourne) and they had more than 15 when they opened.

@vangalorr, I think staff who normally work in the Toy Department of Myer stores would know about the discount, otherwise I don't think it would hurt to politely ask about the additional discount if the staff member is unsure.

Remember, the additional discount for MyerOne cardholders only applies today (24 June) and tomorrow (25 June)!

Ok, just got back from Myer city in Sydney. They have a very large stack (possibly close to 100) of 10194 and over 20 each of 10197, 10210 & 7937. However I couldn't see many kits of 7939 (I saw about 6 and took one myself).

Also, without checking to see the set numbers, it looked like there were large amounts of the duplo kits and 5489.

@jpmanalo, you were correct, the toy counter staff knew all about the extra 10% off, the only problem was navigating the queue where it took me a good 20 minutes to get to the front.

Just bought my train set at Myer Doncaster (Melbourne). They had about ten left. I had previously tried the Northlands, Highpoint and City stores but with no luck.
