Minor outage of website today

At some point today the back-end database is hopefully being moved to another, faster, server. There may be a short (15 minutes or so) outage while this is done. I apologise in advance for the inconvenience.

Currently there appears to be a problem with some searches: this may be due to a database lock which should get resolved soon.

What sort of problem?

How do you fix the problem so fast???

THe problem still persists: sometimes search/browse results are not returned. I think there is a database locking issue on one of the tables. I hope it will be resolved soon.

I think it's OK now--I took the site down for 5 minutes and it seems to have sorted itself out

Why are some popular searches coming up as numbers like 673419133784?

Posted by Sammael in Yugoslavia, 27 Jun 2010 04:35

They are probably cached in a temporary search table/view so they run faster

The back-end was moved sucessfully, there was no outage.

@Jonbuddy - I clicked on them, and the collectible minifigures came up. I believe those numbers are the barcode equivalents, and they are popular searches because people are using their barcode scanners on their phones to see what minifigure is in the package.
