Sharing your collection with others

  • Sharing your collection with others

Posted by Huw, 02 Jan 2008 15:15. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).

In response to my request for ideas for new features, someone asked for the ability to share their collection and wants lists with others. This was a quick thing to do so on the 'Sets I own' and 'Sets I want' page you'll now see a link which you can send to others to enable them to see your data. Note that you need to ensure that 'Allow other members to view my collection' is ticked on your profile otherwise they'll see a blank list.

While I was at it I have also increased the results page size from 25 rows to 50. If that slows things down too much for you them let me know and I'll reduce it again.

When I click on "see LL..'s sets" http://www.brickset.com/lists/collection.aspx?OwnedBy=legolover94
I get collection is not public.

using the link you posted:
http://www.brickset.com/lists/collection.aspx?User=legolover94
worked fine but that's not very obvious without yer help :)

Posted by Denver_80203 in United States, 02 Jan 2008 21:41

edit: I click Legolover94 (anyone here so far), then click "View legolover94's collection" which leads me to the non-public message

Posted by LegoMan384 in United States, 02 Jan 2008 21:58

Whenever I try to view my collection by clicking your profile and then view my collection it will say COLLECTION NOT PUBLIC. The only way I can get it is by entering the URL. Is there any way I can fix it so I can view my collection the normal way again?

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 02 Jan 2008 22:01

Thats exactly what I'm trying to say!!

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 02 Jan 2008 22:27

Chucky12,
I agree with you completely! You stated the following:
"Wouldn't it be great if you can view a specific page instead of cycling through with the next/prev links? This will save some time, especially for people with larger collections (ie Novelty and his whopping 27 pages!)" This is a great idea. I have I believe 8 pages of reviews and I am not sure how many pages for my sets page so it would be a time saver to be able to view a specific page. Good idea!

Posted by bmwlego in United States, 04 Jan 2008 06:05

legoguysw
Several people have asked this question already. From now on your own posts will be colored red/pink on your computer. This way you can see when you last added to a discussion. Now instead of having to read all of the posts to see where you left off, all you have to do is look for your last pink post.
It is not a warning, just a new addition to the brickset experience.

No, it's a feature that was requested, so you could see your posts, in particular your last one, and thus follow the rest of the conversation.

Posted by SillyQuack in United States, 04 Jan 2008 14:08

littlelegoluke, are you talking to me? Oh yes, I think I have all 07 sets besides the UCS millenium falcon.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 04 Jan 2008 16:11

To sillyquack, I as well have all the '07 sets except the UCS Millenium Falcon.

To bmwlego, thank you for reguesting of this new feature. But it is really not helping me, because my color is white and to me about half of the other comments, besides mine, are white.

Huw, I hope it's not much, but would you be so kind is to change my comments from white to a more vibrant color like red? That would help a lot. :)

The new feature works on my computer. Only your comments should be red and only a moderator's should be yellow (like huw's).

Posted by GeøDav in United States, 04 Jan 2008 20:17

To Fighter95:

Personally I'd get the Hailfire Droid set - it looks cooler and I'm a droid fan (Go MTT!).
I'm not sure what I think of the new Anakin fighter and I agree with Dwarf Vader that the Ep. 3 version looks cooler.

Hope this helps.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 04 Jan 2008 23:25

To legolover, if your up to the task of building it I would recommend that you would be satisfied with the motorized at-at, 'cause it's really cool. (If your still not sure, then read my SECOND review of the set.)

To fighter95, I agree that you should get the halfire droid set over the anakin's starfighter set. They are both the same price and the halfire droid set is bigger. And, do I own it, no. But I am about to get it in a couple of days. And I think that the halfire droid set is at either target or walmart, but don't buy it at TRU 'cause it is more expensive there. However, the anakin's starfighter set is not available yet where I live.

Huw, when i write a review it sometimes says after i have written and submitted it:
You must be logged in to write a review', and i am logged in. And when i try to log out nothing happens. Could you try and fix this?

Posted by lego vally in Australia, 05 Jan 2008 05:57

this quote from David1985. I like how EVERY topic ends up being about Star Wars and no one bothers to stay on topic, unless the topic is already Star Wars.

Hi well i dislike it when most of you talk about star wars beacause it is not related to the topic.

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 05 Jan 2008 06:01

Star Wars ends up in every topic because it is movie related, and there is much more anticipation for pictures of new SW sets because star wars is a very popular theme.

Posted by madwolf, 05 Jan 2008 08:20

I don't mind the Star Wars but is it always Star Wars. Now I would not mind citty for a change.

Just my opion ( if thats how u spell it )

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 05 Jan 2008 11:35

Look, I don't know why you don't like Star Wars, it is sooo cool. In fact, if you go to the browse on brickset and look at where it says "Popular Themes" you'll notice that the first theme they list is star wars. Imagine that. And by the way, bmwlego already stated something about this whole "star wars being in every topic" thing. I don't know why you all are so etentive to it when DAVID says it.

And to legoguysw, I also have your problem with your sending reviews thing. It happens to me aoccasionaly.

And besides guys, david said he loved it. I don't know what the problem is here.

P.S. I don't really get sarchasm and I don't plan to.

Legoguysw I have the same problem for EVERY review I write lately. It always says I'm not logged in. Strangely though if I copy and paste it onto another review it can be submitted. I hope it can be fixed soon, as its annoying.
Leggodt the problem with every topic ending in Starwars is that it means its going off topic. Remember that once the comment feature was almost taking off Brickset because of spammy and pointless comments. All of these Starwars comments could be classified as "pointless comments since their off topic, and therefore could result in the comment feature being taken away. So as much as we all like Starwars (I'm a fan of it to) lets just stay on topic. Fighter95 could have just read reviews on the Starwars sets and make a choice of what to buy from them (isn’t that what Brickset is for).

Posted by Pegasi in United States, 05 Jan 2008 13:33

Whoah... I feel really behind here. Are they actually gonna rerelease the AT-TE? that'd be awesome...

Posted by chucky12 in Australia, 05 Jan 2008 14:00

Technically, SW is part of this thread as this comprises the bulk of anyone's and everyone's collection (remember this topic is about sharing your collection?) But I totally agree with omgbrick as it does stray off the topic to SW every single time. Don't get me wrong as I do like SW (check out my collection) but I don't want this feature to be locked out again as I do value news and opinions from fellow users!

Posted by Exo-ForceFan in N/A, 05 Jan 2008 14:18

I like the feature thanks Huw!

Posted by brickzone in Ireland, 05 Jan 2008 14:23

Personally, I have 134 different sets, not one of which is Star Wars :) http://www.brickset.com/lists/collection.aspx?User=brickzone

I think the Star Wars sets are pretty cool, but I prefer Castle, Town and classic Space, as well as special sets like Café Corner.

If I had unlimited money, I'd buy Star Wars lego also. But for now it remains a negated keyword on my ebay searches (-"star wars" -starwars)

BTW, is it possible to link to one's wishlist?

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 05 Jan 2008 14:39

Well, Star Wars is the thing that lead me to LEGOs. Star Wars legos is all I really know. But, I am trying to adapt to other themes like city and creator. And if you'll notice on my wish list(which is viewable according to brickzone) that there are a couple of city sets listed. I understand that a lot of people like sets other than star wars and I'm trying as hard as I can to adapt. But I'm still gettin' there. :) And BTW, I don't start threads, I just follow them. :) So, if ya'll want to get back on topic, I'm cool with that. :) But, I have one last thing to say, star wars IS the most popular, best selling, and most successful lego theme EVER according to the LEGO company; but that doesn't mean that it's the only theme. :D

P.S. I hope this resolves everyone's concerns. :)

Posted by SillyQuack in United States, 05 Jan 2008 14:41

Okay, to let you all know why this turned into star wars was because I gave the link to my collection, and someone said they saw every single 2007 star wars set in my collection, and then that turned into, what should I buy?, and all of the other stuff.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 05 Jan 2008 14:45

Hi guys,

I want to get either the Imperial Dropship or the Hailfire Droid&Spider droid. Which would you recommend?

Posted by deluckybrick in United States, 05 Jan 2008 16:37

Well, I have 4 stormies, and 25 battle droids, but I thought about supplementing my Imperial forces.

Posted by omgbrick in Canada, 05 Jan 2008 16:42

Dwarf Vader do you mean the "keep me logged in"button. Because I have that on, but it doesn't seem to help my review problem.

Posted by lego vally in Australia, 05 Jan 2008 16:51

zac does that page still work for you because it doesn't work for me.

Posted by deluckybrick in United States, 05 Jan 2008 18:22

Well Dwarf Vader, I have an AAT and 2 carriers already, so I am looking for some medium-to-large sized vehicles to go with them. My goal is to have enough droids to Brickfilm the battle of Utapau. As for the stormies, I have just the one speeder bike from Ewok Attack as my ground forces. I have, by four stormies, 1 commander, 1 pilot, and 2 stormtroopers. I'm considering buying some artillery, like the AT-ST, or something else, but maybe increasing my stormtrooper count is a better idea first.

PS-I do have the gunship, and I think the preliminary pics for the new one look terrible.

Posted by deluckybrick in United States, 05 Jan 2008 18:51

Thanks for the recommendations, Dwarf Vader.

I too have problems with submitting reviews at times. Even though I am loggied in up top, sometimes when I write reviews and click submit I am warned that I need to be logged in first. First I copy my review and then try refreshing the page this at times works. If that doesn't work I click on the "Your profile" link and open up my profile. Then I use the back button to get to the page where I wrote a review (the review is usually still there) and click submit. This always works for me but it shouldn't have to be this way.

To dwarf vader, when you were listing things that deluckybrick needs in order to do his movie, you said that he needed a "dewback." Well, actually, the animal that you are trying to refer to is a boga. Do you understand, dwarf vader?

And to omgbrick, I personally, MOST OF THE TIME, BUT NOT ALL OF THE TIME, don't mind, actually, if we stray off topic. I learn more things from brickset commenteer's own threads. No offense Huw. And if your listening, Huw, could you fix this review submitting problem? That would be greatly appreciated. :)

Yes, I see your point omgbrick, it was off-topic, but I do agree with leggodt, straying might be OK sometimes, as long as it dosent get out of hand.

Posted by littlelegoluke in United States, 08 Jan 2008 10:07

I am sorry for my horrible spelling and i've known that for a long time. But thanks for the Info on Rouge Shadow

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 08 Jan 2008 15:36

I agree with redfox, I've known about that acronym since Battlefront. And I have actually seen a trailer for that new force unleashed game. It's really cool!

I agree with all the agreeers (if thats how you spell it!), and Dwarf Vader, there are also the LAAT/i, LAAT/c, and LAAT/t variants on it. I've known this since the Clone Wars game.

Posted by littlelegoluke in United States, 09 Jan 2008 10:12

What is the differance in the ship if u add the /i or /c or /t on it?

Posted by littlelegoluke in United States, 09 Jan 2008 10:16

Hi everyone. This is the best way how to show my collection to other lego fans.
And it is also great for someone, who wants to buy me some Lego and he isn´t sure if I already got it or not.

Check out my collection ;-)

What is MOC

Posted by smiley905 in Canada, 19 Jan 2008 17:29

ya changing the reviews is a good idea

Posted by smiley905 in Canada, 20 Jan 2008 01:20

me too, i dont know if anyones notice or not, but if yuo look at my earlier reviews, some one's gone through there and rated them all bad, so id go through there and make them as good as pocible, to get more good marks

Posted by bmwlego in United States, 20 Jan 2008 09:06

MOC = My Own Creation, in other words you created the model yourself, not using directions from LEGO sets.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 02 Apr 2008 16:22

Sadly, I had to remove several sets from my collection. : (

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 10 Apr 2008 10:40

Ooooooohhh...Nice collection Leggodt :D

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 11 Apr 2008 17:22

Are you being sarcastic, fighter, cause I removed like 30 or so of my sets cause some of them actually belonged to some buddies of mine who said I could add them. Then like a week ago they said that I should remove them. Weird right?

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 11 Apr 2008 18:21

Hmmm...that's strange. No I wasn't being sarcastic :D

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 12 Apr 2008 23:14

Oh! Okay! Well,.....thank you, I guess! :D

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 26 Apr 2008 03:58

Yeah, that is an awesome collection, to be honest, more pages than my collection! I'm so jealous, you have the 4504 Falcon!

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 26 Apr 2008 15:13

Well, I'm jealous that you have the Ultimate Space Battle! Lucky!

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 26 Apr 2008 23:35

The Ultimate space battle is so cool! I wish I had it...I do have the 4504 Falcon though :D

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 28 Apr 2008 01:06

Oh well. I have only seen the Ultimate space battle listed twice on trademe, and the first time was when I bought it, NZD $150, (USD $75?) and I got an etra Droid fighter with it too. The next time was listed at a crazy NZD $360! (USD $180?) It seems the falcon has been listed at a dollar reserve, sadly, I don't have the money, but the opportunity should come again.
