Thanks to everyone who's emailing me with news: Star Wars are now listed at LEGOshop.com in the UK... Series 2 minifigures are available at LEGOLAND Windsor, etc. etc.

Unfortunately (for you, anyway) I'm on vacation at the moment in Malta and it's far too hot to be indoors updating websites, so updates from me at least will be slow for a week or so. I expect the other contributors will keep you informed though.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as I get back!

The lego star wars are now finally availible in the uk . The wampa, turbo tank and grievous starfighter seem reasonale value to me but Palpatines shuttle and slave I are over priced I think .

Posted by AnseltheCat in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2010 14:23

Hi Redbullgivesuwind, I'm fairly sure they had all the new Star Wars sets, although the only one I was really interested in getting yesterday was 8097.

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 15 Jul 2010 14:31

I want Slave 1, Mid-scale Destroyer, Grevious and the Wampa. That's about £200 I need to find now! Harry Potter and Tower Bridge later in the year.

Cad Thingamy's Speeder doesn't seem very good value, looks smaller than the Hoth Wampa, the X-Wing 6212 looks twice the size. Hope it goes on sale at some point then?

I also suspect that we are paying more in Blighty than our Yankee friends over the pond. When the range comes out there I will look at a currency converter.

Still, they do all look fantastic!

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 16 Jul 2010 09:26

For all those in US/Canada who are interested, looks like Lego updated release date for the Imperial Shuttle 10212. Now will be released on Aug 25th, a full week before the previous release date.

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 16 Jul 2010 10:35

It's a pretty safe bet that we'll end up paying quite a lot more that our U.S. cousins, although to be fair our Lego-loving brethren elsewhere will be hammered even harder than we are in the U.K.....

Some of the pricing is looking like 1:1 £:$ which is appalling given an exchange rate of around $1.50 to the pound.....!!

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 16 Jul 2010 10:43

In the Solihull Sears Retail Park Toys R Us (UK) they had some new Star Wars, but I didn't have time to see which ones.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 16 Jul 2010 13:10

@DrDaveWatford - While the U.S. may end up paying less for some sets after currency conversion, Europe made out like bandits in regards to the overall availability of the Series 1 Minifigs as compared to us. While the U.S. seems to get a lot more sales, Europe has lately been getting most of the sets sooner. I'm going to call this a draw. :o)

Posted by billding in United Kingdom, 16 Jul 2010 18:01

I would just like to point out that Legoland Windsor at the moment (16th July) DOES NOT have any Series 2 minifigs for sale. We're still selling down series 1. As soon as series 2 is in stock I will advise accordingly...

Posted by Yankeesboy08 in United States, 16 Jul 2010 23:18

I just ordered the clone turbo tank from toysrus!!!!:)

Posted by Redbullgivesuwind in United Kingdom, 17 Jul 2010 04:18

anselthecat@ cheers gonna add to the old birthday list i think!

Posted by Firox 5000 in United Kingdom, 17 Jul 2010 17:11

I want all the sets , but that is going to be over £500 . I think i may wait for a sale for the overpriced ones e.g Slave I and possibly forget about the midi scale star destroyer .

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 17 Jul 2010 17:14

Was in Legoland today. Can't believe Slave 1 is 80 quid - especially when it is 80 dollars in the US! Doing the exchange rate on that it should be 52 quid.

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 17 Jul 2010 23:11

@everybody regarding those UK prices. I agree completely. The UK pricing is getting ridiculously close to 1:1 with $US, in some cases, level with and beyond it (Vaders Tie). I recommend all concerned write a stern email to Lego right now, expressing your dismay at the premium prices we are ALL being asked to pay. I'm serious! If we ALL do it, (US included) who knows, they make actually take notice at such a public response and actually claw back the price hikes for everyone, just to show they listened. I mean, nothing will ever change if you don't speak out.
The trouble for those in the UK (and other smaller countries) is the competition is stifled. For the UK, ToysRus only carry a limited range, and some of those items Argos (the other store) never has, whilst Lego themselves hold onto all the UCS sets. That's it, there are too many monopolies over certain items. Oh, maybe Tesco on the rare occasion that they can be bothered. There's just not enough competition and that's the problem. We're sitting ducks for ridiculous price hikes... before long it'll be cheaper to bypass the UK market altogether and buy from abroad. :o)
