  • SDCC 2010 Cube Dudes instructions available here at Brickset!

Posted by Huw, 10 Aug 2010 15:38. Filed under Brickset.

Brickset member Jsutton has reverse engineered the models and created step-by-step instructions of the five SDCC 2010 Cube Dudes. You can now view them excusively at Brickset!

If you have the parts, do take the time to make them as they are very cute!

Update: Jsutton has provided new versions of the instructions that are slighty more accurate, thanks to input from those that actually own them.

Just built up the clone trooper! Awesome fun, now to create a clone army.
Full credit to all involved in making these available.

Thank you so much!

While those are pretty cool, I can't believe people paid 75 bucks for them and are now paying even more on the secondary market.

Thank you for sharing the instructions.

"each set costs around 10 dollars Canadian on Pick a Brick"

Interesting. I'm planning on going down the Bricklink route, so I'll let you know which works out cheaper. Bricklink, I suspect, but we'll see. The orange (for Obi Wan) and lime (for Yoda) might push up the price a bit as parts in these colours tend to be a bit harder to track down.

UPDATE : you can't actually buy all the required pieces from Pick-a-Brick anyway, at least in the UK. The lime green jumper plate isn't available, nor the orange 2 x 2 corner plate or the chrome lightsaber hilts. Probably others as well - I stopped looking after a while.

Posted by legobob in United States, 11 Aug 2010 06:48

OK the sets are cool and have simple pieces I love them!

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 11 Aug 2010 10:08

Cool. Also, props to you JSutton!

Posted by JELJ1s in United States, 11 Aug 2010 11:31

Looks like some Bricklink sellers will be getting my money soon! These are very cool!

Posted by superbrick in United States, 11 Aug 2010 11:46

I buillt Yoda, though i didn't have all the pieces in the right color.
AND PEOPLE, TRY TO KEEP THIS TO BRICKSET SO PEOPLE DON'T STEAL IT AND MAKE MONEY OF THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!

Anyone thinking about doing the Bounty Hunter Cubedudes from Fan Celebration V? I really want to build those things. As I already have the SDCC Edition. I made a Boba Fett of my own based off of a design from flickr but the one from Fan Celebration V looks superb.

So that one 1x1 round tile in R2D2, is that purple or dark blue? I can't find a good picture of the model online from that angle...

Posted by catman625 in United States, 11 Aug 2010 13:53

very cool can't wait for the bounty hunters

Posted by doodlebird in United States, 11 Aug 2010 14:29

@james benjamin, i have the SDCC ones... i think that round 1x1 you mean is a plate, not a tile.... as i don't know if round 1x1 tiles exist. semantics aside, the round 1x1 plate in step 2 of the head is purple.

i wish i had known people wanted the instructions... i could have scanned them in.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 11 Aug 2010 15:11

i think you can only get the pieces for r2-d2 and c3p0 completely in Pick a Brick...the other three has pieces that aren't available

Posted by legowomen1980p in United States, 11 Aug 2010 15:16

Finally a comic con exclusive that won't fetch more than it cost to buy at the convention... I have always been jealous of the convention in Cali.. Living in Chicago we don't have it here.. always wanting their special sets... finally a set that can't be resold for a ton of profit on E-bay.. Mini-figures are highly collectible.. these things.. I think not... Unless your a true stars wars fan... and not out to make a profit.. ;-)

@doodlebird: Do you have any of the other SW cube dude sets? I've been looking all over for these instructions but couldn't find them anywhere - if you have any of the others it'd be extremely kind of you to share! Thanks!

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 11 Aug 2010 15:38

There's only one other 'CubeDude' set, the 'Bounty Hunter Edition', and that isn't released until later this week.

Huw - Awesome, thanks for posting these.

Posted by doodlebird in United States, 11 Aug 2010 22:36

@Earl, nope sorry. just this one. day late and a dollar short on these.

Posted by Pobwall in United Kingdom, 12 Aug 2010 12:13

awesome!!

Posted by Anoflix in France, 12 Aug 2010 14:09

Pick a Brick for ObiWan : 6.5€ = $8.3 ! (add shipping, <$75 !)

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 12 Aug 2010 16:44

The US$75 was for a set containing the parts for all 5 figs; 5x$8.3 is still less than US$75 ... but that's not the point for a serious collector.

Posted by Anoflix in France, 12 Aug 2010 20:02

Furthermore, the collector is sure to have all the pieces. (It's difficult to find all of them on pick a brick because the reference is not sure, the colours are sometimes slightly different or not present :'( .)

My ObiWan Kenobi is blonde hair ! ... Nevermind :D
