    Collectable Minifigures/Series 2, 2010
    More details...
    ©2010 LEGO Group

As widely reported in the news comments here at Brickset, and also through all the emails we've been receiving, the Series 2 Collectable Minifigs now appear to be available throughout the UK from W.H. Smiths news agents.

My personal experience is that the box was held behind one of the till areas in the store. There was no limitation on the number of packs I could buy, but I *wasn't* able to examine the packs beforehand so I couldn't check the barcodes & select the ones I wanted to get a full set. From 16 packs I bought I got 10 unique figures, which I feel was pretty good. They were £1.99 each.

    Happy hunting !

I should probably check if they're instock in Ireland. Usually they are released at the same time as the UK.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 20 Aug 2010 18:40

Huzzah! Good, just got to convince my parents...

Posted by squiz in United Kingdom, 20 Aug 2010 19:57

yeah the box was behind the counter at my local one too. I just asked the guy behind the till and he let me root out the ones i wanted :)

He was impressed by the bar code sheet and asked if the store could keep it for future customers.

Posted by MisterGeolix814 in United States, 20 Aug 2010 20:46

well, if customers are rooting the minifigs of their choice in UK... then maybe they might let US customers root out minifgs of their choice!

(And i will get A LOT MORE THAN I GOT FOR SERIES 1.)

ones i want:

mexican
vampire
mine artist
spartan
witch
skier
DJ
popstar
jungle explorer

i hope i get those!!!!!!

Posted by LobsterWarrior in United States, 20 Aug 2010 20:57

YES! Then my chances of the figs being in my local TRU in CA tomorrow increase by 10% Minifig Series 2, Here I come!

P.S. I was gonna get them in another TRU today, but I bought Meltdown instead.

Posted by MisterGeolix814 in United States, 20 Aug 2010 21:02

@lobsterwarrior: i agree my chances of seeing them on 8-28-10 and 10-7-10 have been risen. THANK YOU TLG!!

as previosuly mentioned, anyone in Northern Ireland, go to WH Smith Belfast. They are downstairs in the kids book section on a seperate shelf near the customer service desk. They are not at the cash till which is great as you can spend as mush time as you want to pick those figures you want.

Only two boxes left as i bought two full boxes so absolutley no limit on how many you can buy.

Local Toymaster stores have stated they are limiting 5 per customer when stocks available.

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 04:49

John Lewis Cheadle and Trafford have *no date yet* TRU Stockport think they may be getting them soon, TRU Manchester and Warrington have never heard of them, and TRU Altrincham 'have a guy from a separate company who brings in all their Lego stock and puts it on the shelves every Tuesday, but he didn't bring any minifigures. I'm still missing a diver and a skater from series 1 :-( anyone who can help please message me via my profile but I'm away until Friday. And a word of warning, never phone TRU if you want to keep your sanity (and you phone bill low!) I was sat there for ages listening to music like comes out of those wind up baby toys with some guy repeating 'Mad about gaming? join our gamers club instore today'

Posted by Darthblaker74744 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 05:51

i hope they'll have them in wales soon :)

Posted by Pumpkin Jack in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 06:06

Confirmed that WHSmiths has them
I got
2x Spartens
Witch
Vampire
Pop Star
Mexican
Skier
Weight lifter
Pharoh
Pamala Anderson lol

Posted by voyanui8768 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 06:51

I just got back my WHSmith which had 3 FULL boxes but they were behind the counter so I asked for two and got two of the ones I wanted: the Spartan (amazing, by the way)and the Judoka.

Posted by helpme1986 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 06:53

Ive just been to the 1 in Birmingham City Centre, was near the tills but not behind them and they didnt say anything as i scanned the codes (although i did feel silly)

Posted by Renegade007cjh in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 07:19

Just returned for a successful foray into my WHSmith (Essex); they had one box (that I could see), near the tills... the lady I spoke to initially was quite happy (although bemused) for me to check the codes against my printed list, but I did get some funny looks from several of the other members of staff and some customers!!!

Anyway, looked like someone had beaten me to it as I couldn't find any Spartans... think I managed to get one of each of the others though...

Happy hunting everyone!

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Posted by timbutnice in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 08:08

series 2 is out in Kingston (upon Thames) WHSmith. On the shop floor instead of the tills, they are now however 5 Spartans lighter...

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 08:11

I'm delighted these have now hit UK shores as they look great.

Having ended up with tons of series 1 duplicates last time out I've learned my lesson and bought a complete sealed set of 16 on eBay this time.

Posted by scottwb2010 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 08:22

Had a trip to the shops yesterday and popped in to the WH Smiths on the off chance to see if they had series 2 in yet. My timing was lucky as they had just emptied 2 boxes of series 2 onto the minifigure rack in the shop. Didn't have my cheat sheet so just made sure I didn't pick up 2 barcodes the same, but as they were on a rack shelf I had plenty time to check them and there was no limit to the amount you could purchase.

I had earleir been in TRU's and they didn't have any minifigure, series 1 or 2 but across the retail park in Tesco they had a box load of series 1 hanging up on a rack. A different Tesco I visited later had series 1 also, which is strange that Tesco have them now.

Back in town and the local Toymaster shop had 2 boxes of series 1 but no series 2 yet. Feel sorry for those of you who have not completed series 1, but in the UK check youre local Tesco just incase.

So happy hunting.

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 08:35

Just back from WHsmiths where I purchased an entire set of 16 (but the kid behind the counter only charged me for 15, so I got one free!). Now I can relax from the cutthroat world of minifigure collecting, with 1 opened set and 1 sealed set, but I'm thinking about an Ancient/Greek Soldier Army group ... ;)

Posted by legocity1 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 08:45

How much is it to buy a whole box (in Pounds)

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 09:28

A box is, I assume, £120.

Posted by miniman30 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 10:58

Grrr, went to my town's WHSmith today, said they were meant to get them on Friday! ANNOYED >:(

Posted by powerpig in Canada, 21 Aug 2010 11:03

On a related note, Series 2 is hitting Walmart in Canada. I bought 30X this morning, from their stock of 720. $2.86 each. I was very surprised to see them as there had been no reports of Series 2 hitting the shelves here in Canada. But, hey, my hunt is over now!

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, 21 Aug 2010 11:15

@ powerpig: :O . Why oh why did I promise my Dad I wasn't going to beg till September to go Wal-Mart.

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 12:07

Got one!!!!! (Mexican)

Posted by CapnAmaranth in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 12:48

At the Lincoln store, one box was next to the main queue (along with other collectable sorts, football stickers and the like) ~ whist another two were one a stand near the toy/game section of the store, which I suspect may hold true for other larger WHSmiths stores.

Posted by nameloc in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 13:53

panic panic panic ... cant control myself over these and they are just peices of cheap plastic(LOL)
Begged and pleaded with the mrs to stop off on the way home so i could check out a WhSmiths.
Was like a little kid again (im 39 !!!!!!)

... none on display.... panic...
... shop very busy.....panic....
... no staff.....panic...

Then by a fluke I saw a DHL counter, and asked the assitant there ... well now one box better off. I've had an amazing holiday!!!!

Posted by Hamish100 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 14:31

Any one seen any in Essex? Haven't seen any but haven't been looking in detail.

Posted by wildcherryp3psi in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 15:10

Thanks to my wonderful Mum back in good ol' blighty I will be getting atleast 5 of series 2, I've had no luck so far in Mesa, AZ but will keep looking.
P.S my Mum said that this reminds her of looking for certain Star Wars figure back when I was a kid...I'm now 35 :-)

Posted by Camusdarrach in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 15:51

WH Smith in Leeds has them in stock, a sales assistant and myself went through an entire box, using the crib sheet.
Got the whole set, and the assistant kept the sheet for future reference in the store....

Posted by baron22 in United Kingdom, 21 Aug 2010 18:10

@Hamish100 - WH Smith in Lakeside has a box behind the till. You can also get them in WH Smith at Bluewater (Kent, I know, but close) - they have 2 boxes opposite the tills in the queue!

Posted by JohnnyWashngo in United Kingdom, 22 Aug 2010 05:45

WHSmith in Harrogate have several boxes of series two figures in stock.
They now have a couple of dozen less than they had yesterday ;)

This figures are great. The vampire figures cape is a bit of a pain to get on though :(
But overall - another great set of figures.

I could see lego doing this for a long time. There are so many inspirations to draw upon that it would take a long time for them to exhaust their supply of ideas for minifigs.

Posted by JonnyRonny in United Kingdom, 22 Aug 2010 10:30

This is for people who dont yet have all of Series 1 in Cornwall, I went to my local Whsmith and the still have 2 boxes of Series 1 so it looks like that the stock went so quickly because they didnt put them all out.

Posted by xcrossx in United Kingdom, 22 Aug 2010 10:51

Hey JonnyRonny - Would you be willing to share which WHSmith in Cornwall which still has them? Thanks

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 22 Aug 2010 13:36

Today in WHSmiths the manager let me take an empty display box, so now I can display the sealed set alongside the yellow box from series 1! 8 Spartans and counting :)

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 22 Aug 2010 15:06

If you go to a smaller W.H.smiths, they don't stock them.

Posted by brickzone in Ireland, 22 Aug 2010 17:00

I'm sure someone will post here when they spot them (but in which news post?!), but has anyone seen these in Ireland yet? No sign of them in Smyths Toys yet, nor Art & Hobby or Argos.

Posted by Super Robot Wars in Ireland, 22 Aug 2010 18:12

@brickzone, I rang a smyths store today and the lady who answered the phone said that they would probably have them in stock on Tuesday. But I'm not too sure about that, I might have misheard. If I do spot them I'll notify you :).

Posted by tlmartin in United Kingdom, 22 Aug 2010 18:37

In WHSmiths, I purchased a case (well asked the wife to pop in after work). This case was split between 3 of us as it contained 3 complete sets and 12 extras. I believe that all cases contain 2 sets for definate, I have also heard they do actually always contain 3 sets, so it may well be worth while buying a complete case (not 2 parts of a case (i.e. an open one and then additional from a seperate case)) if there are 2 or 3 of you wanting a full set. This saves money too as on series one I spent £60 approx on the complete set, this one I spent £40 and got a full set.

Posted by Darthblaker74744 in United Kingdom, 23 Aug 2010 05:56

im going to Hereford next week so ill make sure I got lots of money and my ipod's fully charged (I keep the barcodes on my ipod cuz I hasn't got a camera to scan) in the hereford branch their next to the Lego (hopefully yeay) last time some body had opened one of the packets because I found a space-gun :) im gunna try to get an empty box aswell so I can store them in

Posted by Town in United States, 23 Aug 2010 09:36

Phew that was awkward! 5/5 again with the codes! Wonder why Smiths moved them from the "toy aisle" to behind the counter? The lady behind the counter looked at me like I was bat-sh** insane. She didn't understand that I needed to look at the lines and compare them to my sheet- nothing to do with the numbers. Got what I wanted though! :D

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 23 Aug 2010 11:58

I travelled 8 miles on my bike in the rain to get one. Now that is devotion!

Posted by Cowbell03 in United Kingdom, 23 Aug 2010 14:22

Set off through some heavy rain to 'Smiths, I was distraught to find I'd forgotten the barcode sheet! Luckily only one duplicate of the 9 I'd bought. :) Happy building!

Posted by legofoofleflyboy in United Kingdom, 23 Aug 2010 14:35

With Series 1, I went to an Argos store and there was this really helpful manager, so she was there with me and my mum as I was checking the barcodes, and then she got some scissors and started cutting the bags open! When I got all of the ones I wanted, I let her keep the sheet, turns out you can get the staff these days!

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 23 Aug 2010 15:00

if you live near blackpool or live in blackpool, their's lots, i mean lots of series 1 there. When i went, i got 14 bags...

Posted by wayno23 in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 02:18

Anyone know when these will be hitting TRU & Argos?

Posted by tyuku57 in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 02:34

i got some too but same situation

Posted by mission_zed in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 04:26

@Town: Why did WHSmiths move the minifigs to behind the counter ? Probably because they are concerned at all these strange AFOL's sitting in the corner rifling through their stock ! The minifigs are pretty small and fairly expensive, so theft is likely to be a worry for them. I'm waiting to see if John Lewis get Series 2 on 1 Sept so I can hunt for them in peace ...

Posted by squiz in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 05:27

yeah same with me mission_zed. So much easier to get the whole set when they are just on a shelf!

Posted by steviebwoy in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 05:28

32 years old, and I'm unnaturally excited about heading into town on my lunch hour today! :D I spoke to the WHS sales assitant last week, and she claimed they'd be in on Tuesday. Fingers crossed they've got some left by 2pm!

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 05:37

Avacadoturban, do you live in Poole/Bournemouth? If so, it sounds as if I might be able to find some series 2 minifigs in my local WHSmith Poole.

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 07:03

@Commander-Cody: Sort of, I went for a weekend visit to a relative's in Poole. Try going to the back of the Poole branch opposite the Post Office bit - they had 2 complete, open boxes there on Sunday, and the staff were happy to let me look through one of them. Beware other AFOL though; a couple were circling me!

Posted by JonnyRonny in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 07:49

@xcrossx: Sorry about the delay but they have them in Truro please notify me if you find any other Whsmiths in Cornwall that sell Series 1 still.

Posted by alex12 in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 07:57

My Mum works for Argos and she said Sept 1st is when they are expected to turn up.

Posted by steviebwoy in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 09:55

Boo, none in our WHS! :-(

Posted by JonnyRonny in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 10:58

Does anyone know if anywhere in St.Puals London sell Lego Minifigures Series 1?

Posted by Jabba the Taff in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 11:53

Finished my series 2 collection in my local WH Smiths this morning. It's small and they didn't stock series 1, so perhaps - with reports of the figures also being in Tesco and Asda - they are going to be more widely available and people won't have to travel so far for them.

BTW: although the minifigures were normally priced, I'm sure WHS must be the most expensive place to by Lego now! It's obscene! Even with their 25% off offer it's still more expensive than the Entertainer.

Posted by absolutelylez in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 13:17

Warning: These figures are MUCH more popular than the first series. A lot of Children are now very aware of them and the AFOL community has NOT had a headstart in discovering their release before children. Get them as soon as possible!!

Consequently, today at WHSmith, which had 2 boxes on show, had only 1/3 of figures left !!! I was able to freely check the bags as I wanted, the shop assistant even encouraged it. They were by the tills.

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 14:07

@jabba the taff, i got nearly all my minifigures from tesco... so if your near a tesco, why not try them.

Posted by wayno23 in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 14:31

Well you can pick the Minifigures up for just 1.43 from WHS!! you ask HOW!!
OK sign up to there Privilege club on there website which is FREE.
They will then e-mail you 20 pound off in vouchers one is 5 pound off ANY toys,Games when you spend more than 12 pound. (small print also states 12 pound must be TOTAL transaction)..
SO you buy 9 bags/1.99 total 17.91 pound use voucher NEW TOTAL 12.91pound or 1.43 per bag!!! DONE AND TESTED!!!!!!
and YES i used the voucher TWICE and will use again tomorrow!

Posted by robodee in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 16:19

Spotted and bought in the Argyll St branch of WHSmiths today in Glasgow. :)

Posted by Jabba the Taff in United Kingdom, 24 Aug 2010 18:48

@ Doctor Leg O'Brick; thanks, I've got the ones I needed this morning. I was only after one complete set. Gutted I didn't realise about the Privilege club vouchers.

If they are now at Tesco, maybe using the clubcard voucher exchange would help as you can swap £5 of clubcard points for a £10 voucher up until Sept 5th. You have to specify you want to use the vouchers in store and in the toy department and if you don't use them by that date you'll lose the voucher. But other than that it should work fine to get 2 for 1!!

Posted by Icarax123 in United Kingdom, 25 Aug 2010 05:34

I picked a couple up yesterday; got the Traffic Cop and the DJ!

Posted by steviebwoy in United Kingdom, 25 Aug 2010 09:37

I'm all done! After three consecutive days of visiting a Gloucestershire WHSmiths I went in again today and to my delight the boxes of figures had been "only put out about an hour ago". They had two boxes upstairs, and one box downstairs.

The guy there was an absolute legend and let me sift through one of the boxes which was behind the tills (utterly out of reach) in the toy section, even though the managers had told them not to let people check the barcodes. He even helped me look through them, so I gave him my code sheet as I left as he said he might get a few too.

Managed to get a surfer, vampire, karate champ, mime, mariachi, pharoah and 3 spartans! All from one box which was untouched when I got there.

Not interested in making a profit from these - they're all for me me me!

Good times! Thank you WHSmiths!

Posted by billywiz in United Kingdom, 25 Aug 2010 09:45

i have just been in to my local WH Smiths and the guy behind the counter set me to one side with the box AND a photo copy of the barcode sheet and said pick the ones you want!
i guess they realised that if people can pick the ones they want the stock will last longer cuz people won't be buying massive amounts to guarantee getting the ones they want.

Posted by Delatron in United Kingdom, 25 Aug 2010 11:10

@wayno23 - Nice heads up on the privelidge club, I've just signed up! Won't get to our WHS until Friday now, fingers crossed for stock.

Posted by lego_nutt in United Kingdom, 26 Aug 2010 06:55

I signed up to Privelidge (great idea) and popped into WHS at 8.30 this morning to get some for a friend....less than a week and they are all sold out.

the only sign of them is an empty box which use to be full....i shouldn't complain as i reduced their stock by 50% after 1 day.

Posted by Town in United States, 26 Aug 2010 09:27

My Smith's are now out (smallish town in Sussex), Toymaster has none until September.

Posted by Super Robot Wars in Ireland, 26 Aug 2010 16:01

Series 2 is available in Ireland on the 1st of September! I checked the smyths site and it is now listed on it : ) but it says its out of stock for some weird reason.

Posted by buddy in United Kingdom, 27 Aug 2010 08:07

In my local WHSmiths today, I got 3 spartans, 1 skier and 5 surfers. They had one box behind the tills, but I got mine from the 2 full boxes they had in the Lego section. I used the £5 off privilege club voucher, as mentioned by wayno23, so I paid £12.91 instead of the usual £17.91 for nine packets.

They were all sold out at WH Smiths in Cheltenham when I visited last Monday, will check again tomorrow but not so fussed now since I picked up a sealed case of 60 from a German seller on ebay for £110 delivered to the UK. At a saving of £10 off the UK price I'm feeling rather pleased with myself :-). I'll be sharing this case with a friend and his nephew...happy days!!

Just been to my local Smyths in Ireland, in Drogheda. Six full box's. No limit at all as i bought a whole box :-D. Only 5 left now :-P €2.49 each figure. Now i have the whole collection and lots left over. Happy times...!!

Posted by Super Robot Wars in Ireland, 27 Aug 2010 17:15

@dpa1 My smyths had only two boxes (probably more behind the counter) but I bought half the collection, hopefully the next time I go I'll have the whole collection. And maybe a few gladiators :P.

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 28 Aug 2010 14:11

Checked again today, they had 2 pretty full boxes in WH Smiths in Cheltenham, go get 'em if you want 'em. I had to get 5 just because I haven't got any in-hand yet, although I have got some on the way from Germany.

I went to the one in watford and they only had one left so I bought it. I got the lion tamer.

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 31 Aug 2010 09:44

I have just got back from Altrincham. I got 10 (9 unique) I got 2 Surfers, 1 lifeguard, 1 weightlifter, 1 mexican, 1 spartan, 1 witch, 1 vampire, 1 traffic cop and 1 guy with trophies. They had 2 boxes, 1 on the counter and 1 behind. It's really hard trying to work out barcodes when there's no space and you have to keep telling people that your'e not in the queue and to move past! At first I spoke to this guy behind the till who seemed to think I was mad about 'reading' barcodes but ten the store manager came along and said it was a brilliant idea and that he would print a decoder sheet and put it on the counter for other customers to use. I gave him the brickset web address.
