I have mixed feelings about ordering from Lego Shop @ Home. They're currently the cheapest way for me to get 16 figures, even with the unfortunate shipping rates, but do I really risk purchasing 16 figures and getting only 4 or 5 unique figures at most? I'm greatly interested in hearing the results from those that order directly from Lego, but I suspect we'll see a repeat of Series 1 where the combination of how figures are arranged in boxes with how the clerks grabbed the bags to fill orders led to absurdly high chances of duplication.

@Captain Blockbeard: for Series 1 I ordered 5 from S@H. I got 3 Cowboys and 2 Robin Hoods. Yeah, not happy. I think you're right; the person filling the orders just grabs in order out of the box. I would assume the same to be true for Series 2 but you never know

I just made two orders of 16. I used the same address and debit card but I just changed the first name. The total of each order was $41.99. If I waited to hunt them down at TRU and pay $2.99 it'd come out to $51.79. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that I don't receive too many doubles.

And if I can return the unwanted doubles to TLS like @Legodt suggested above I won't make out too bad.

Dang, I was just online this afternoon to see if they were up, I must have missed them by minutes/hours. I have only five from Series One, all purchased on the last day they were on Lego.com. Three divers and two robots. I'll take another chance, but I'm not liking my odds.

Well I ordered 5 form Shop@Home, so if they are all the same or only 2 different ones...then I won't be too dissappointed on only spending 15 bucks on 'em. And if they're good ones, then I'll be well happy! :D

@ ALL

I would not be too concerned about being "stuck" with extras of these. At least you will know what unopened fig you have in hand via the barcodes. Remember that Series 3, 4 ,5 on and on is coming soon and their will be NO barcodes there.

The business of trading minifigs back and forth will be part of the game from series 3 on. With production sure to increase to met current demand, I would guess that a trade of a series one or series two figure for TWO of series 3 (or 4,5,6...) would not be unfair.

Personally I have a LOT of confidance in ser 1 and ser 2 in the long run.

I've asked this before but I'll ask again. Does anyone know if LEGO made more or less Minifigures with the European barcodes than for the U.S. and would anyone be interested in collecting both?

@pitfall69 - I think if a hard-core completes collector went to complete two sets, they would try to get both the european and usa barcode sets. But i doubt anyone will feel they must. Honestly the difference between the two variations is far too slight; if there was a package color variation or something like that... we would be talking about something else.

This is a guess but considering all the places in the world that sell Legos I am going to guess that there are fewer USA barcodes. that is totally a guess.

But considering how slight the package differences are I do not see there being a huge difference in collectible or resale value.

Favorite's the Mime. The Bad Part is My TRU had Them at 3.00!!! so That's why I Didn't get them all. They also have 2 Boxes if anyone wants them. It was the Modesto one. Good luck!

went to the lego store in tysons and they were sold out when i got there, but the lday let me order 5. there were a few people there sorting their bags out in the back, it was interesting. then i went to tru and they had a full box but for $3 each :(, i decided to get the ones i wanted $20

i got the 2nd vampire by mistake, and eventho the archeologist looks cool in the pic, he is kinda boring in reality. with series 1, the ones i liked the most were the ones i got by chance, the magician and the diver, i think i like the idea of not knowing which ones you are getting because sometimes the ones you think you like dont turn out to be so cool. hopefully i will get the skier-disco guy-mexican-or spartan in the mail :D

I just got four random from Bricklink. I tried to look up the bar codes and I couldn't match the bar codes on some them at all for either European or US.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I will be opening them later, but it seems strange that I can't match the bar codes.

My lego order of 16 shipped today (bought yesterday) and went to my tru to get the ones I wanted just in case. I found out the price was 2.99 and limit 2! But I managed to get a mexican and spartan. The package is coming friday to next week. I hope it's not all duplicates. Happy Hunting Everyone!

I just had someone pick some up for me. It was at my local toy store and they were being sold for $2.99 each. We managed to get 10. The clerk was nice about the barcodes, infact they wanted a copy of them! Returning 4 duplicates tommorow. There was no one else in the store! The store is right near by so we went 5 minutes after they sent an email saying they had them.

The LEGO store in Atlanta is sold out already. They sold out in 3 hours. I got there just after. I think the LEGO employees take their share first and then just put out whatever is left.

Just picked up 2 more at Phoenix TRU. Got a mime to finish off my collection and another vampire. My hubby went earlier and got mr maracas and disco stu. They are limiting it to 2 per person per day because they only got one box. If you have an iPhone it reads the barcodes and gives you the number it is and you can compare it to the list.

I hit the LEGO store in Frisco, Texas this morning shortly after it opened to pick up the Imperial Shuttle. When I walked in, there were about a dozen or so adults (fans, parents, etc.) sitting on the floor, picking through two boxes. The LEGO employees then brought out two more boxes. I managed to escape with 15 out the 16.

Fortunately, my local TRU in Allen, Texas also received two boxes. However, the boxes were at customer service and they were limiting them to "two per guest".

Hey Huw... might create more problems than it solves, but got me thinking that you should add a collectable minigure trading feature to your site -- no prices (that's what ebay and bricklink are for) -- just simple, I have this, I need this, let's swap. Might also be handy in finding local people to avoid mail hassles.

Went to the Portland area Lego store this morning and there was a line of 40 or so people. They put all the figures in one huge bin, 3 maybe 4 boxes at least and everyone started digging. While everyone was fairly civil there was one jerk who literally scooped up as many as he could possibly hold and then like some kind of prison inmate went to one of the design center benches and started picking through them one at a time while staring off anyone coming nearby. It was kind of funny, I grabbed 5 or 6 at a time and sorted through and managed to nab 3 Spartans, 2 karate guys, 2 pharaohs, and 1 each of a few others my boys liked. We could purchase up to 16 at a time. Gave up 1 of the Spartans to another kid but the best part was leaving the store and going past hoarder jerk and hearing him desperately asking anyone if they had any Spartans!

went to the lego store in Anaheim last night. was able to pick up 32 of the little figures. i was able to get a complete set. i think they look very neat. bought a collectors box to display them in. one thing i do not under stand is why the spartan and pharoh are so indemand. there was 5 people at the store all day looking for those . they only had a few. you should have seen thier faces every time a customer bought some that they had not had a chance to look through the codes. they might want to for safty sakes limit the sale of them to 2 per person per day and no looking at the bar codes until they have purchased the item. i am going to return the other 16 i do not need then get the new UCS imperial shuttle. glad i am done now with series 2.

Yellowcastle, I found a gone through box last night at TRU on Leesburg Pike/Baileys Crossing. No Spartans, Vampires, Pharoahs, Surfers, or Adventurers left. TRU had them for $2.99 and a limit of 5 per person.

I picked up:
2x Karate Man
1x Skier
1x Pop Star
1x Mexican

Edit: I suspect they have more cases as they run out, based on how the guy acted when I asked if they had more. But he neither confirmed nor denied it. And the box is at the front service desk.

Another week without Series 2 arriving in PA. I checked again with stores today, but no shipments. I'll wait until next week to check again on the shipment days. Am I living in one of the only states that has yet to receive Series 2? We were late with Series 1 as well, but nothing like this.

without listing them all I got 15 of 16 figs (no pharoah)

but 5 freakin cops!!!!

overall a great sort.
