I ordered mine this morning!!! Yeah! I got $5 off with VIP points and free shipping. Well worth the wait! Now I won't have to keep going to or calling TRU or Lego store!!!

Aww :( So much for the sub-$10 set :p

I love The Burrow and the Castle.... However TLG didn't outdo themselves with the design of these sets. I wish they would have created more new sets rather than just re-designing old sets...

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 01 Sep 2010 15:57

If you buy all 6 sets you get alternative building instructions for The Burrows. It was advertised in my new Lego catalog.

Can't wait till I get home from work so I can pre order the catstle and maybe the burrow

I think the TLG group did a wonderful job with the new HP LEGO designs/sets... they were inspired by the new HP LEGO game by TT; if that was the motivation they needed to release new/additional HP sets, then so be it. TLG also re-visits/re-designs Star Wars sets too... but I still think this is postive twofold, completists usually get another cool set, but also additional mini figs not released before; and new collectors to LEGO can find an alternative for the set now-a-days if they missed out before.

Even though 3 of the 6 sets are redesigns, they're still significantly different then their previous counterparts to make them worthwhile to collect. I'm excited to find out what's IN Hagrid's Hut, the 'older' look to the characters hairstyles is a nice throwback to the HP2 movie and has them now in flesh-color tone instead of the old yellow skin color of older HP sets (that I miss to a certain extent); The Hogwart's Express, with the double theme of HP2 and HP6 is excellent, including the Ford Anglia's new design (directly from the HP LEGO game); and Dobby's set is not only cheap, but has a much cooler designed Mr. Malfoy. All of the new sets also seem to come with more 'play-ability' pieces.

The Quidditch set to me is NOTHING like the old Quidditch Practice set, they are all designed to be Quidditch Players in Quidditch gear with a new House stand; and now we have 6 hoops from both sets for both ends of the Quidditch Pitch; the Burrow is completely new and we finally get more Weasley's (and it's pre-fire/movie at least); and the Castle is nothing short of excellent; even if it has a lighter color scheme/feel compared to the older, darker sets; with a ton of mini-figs. The Castle's Great Hall seems to finally be partially redisgned but the rest of the Castle is somewhat new, and being half of the original Castle to be released, it's refreshing to see much more parts are included; no other Hogwart's Castle has really been re-created, they've always just been different sections for the different movies..

I kinda think the castle is ... messed up. You don't know which book/movie its from...it has sirius' face burning in the griffindor dormroom, it has voldemort barging in, and professor dumbledore is still alive....

omg i'm so ordering the burrow!! xD

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 01 Sep 2010 19:10

YES! I'm going for all of them. :-) I love Harry Potter and the movies are mostly great too in my opinion!

Posted by jadeirene in United States, 01 Sep 2010 19:11

Wow, these sets are more expensive than I expected them to be. The three previous Hogwarts Castles were all $90 and the new one is $130. I was hoping to be able to buy all 6 sets for under $300, but I guess I'll be spending a bit more.

I do realize that there are more pieces/figures in the new sets than in the previous versions which explains the price hike, but the prices did take me by surprise based on the prices of the previous versions.

The Burrow looks fabulous, BTW.

Boo to flesh colored heads!! Boooo! I always have to go on pick-a-brick and find some appropriate yellow head to swap them out with - and yellow hands. Can't stand the fleshies. DOWN WITH THE FLESHIES! Lego people are supposed to be yellow. All of them yellow. All Lego, all yellow, all mellow, all good.

My dad got the LEGO Catalog today, and it said something about "Ordering all 6 Harry Potter sets from online and getting alternate instructions for the Burrow free." Dos anyone else know about this?

P.S. It also had an end-date to getting the Alternate instructions, but I can't remember what is is. Sorry!

P.P.S. Can someone please tell me what is Lucius Malfoy's alternate face in set 4736? I can't make out what it is...

@murdoch17: I think its his death eater face

It's been a while since I last posted here... I can't contain my excitement for both the HP movie and LEGO sets!!! I so want to own the Burrow, Hogwarts Castle, and the Hogwarts Express! I just hope these new sets will be shipped and distributed here in the Philippines. The Prince of Persia sets were available a few months ago (and I think until now) so I do hope the Harry Potter sets will be made available as well. It's been quite a while since I last managed to collect some good LEGO sets. The last I owned was a Batman set. I'm crossing my fingers for HP! =D

By the way, there's a video advertisement of the upcoming LEGO HP sets. It's really nice... I found it on a Harry Potter fansite called SnitchSeeker. Here's the link if you want to see the video and some screencaptured images:

I just have to ask.. is that a fez on the Fire place/Flue transporter in the Burrow?

Posted by harrypotter2010 in United States, 02 Sep 2010 14:03

Actually, I preordered mine yesterday and as with the person on top, I got $5 off with my VIP points & free shipping. The only problem is since Lego switched to FedEx, they don't knock when they deliver stuff, just leave a sticker on the box, I guess they think that justifies not knocking. Also, actually 5 of the 6 are like sets from before, Aragog came in a set before as well as Hagrid's Hut, this'll actually be the third HH. 3rd Hogwarts Castle as well. As for me, I am basically after the figs & parts as I already have a Harry Potter layout with my Lego train club. Also those new owls are just so awesome looking, very well detailed. Plus I'm looking forward to having a chocolate frog. These were a most welcome site as the person for Lego a year ago at a convention said there would't be anymore HP sets produced (uh, huh).-Jeanne

Posted by Legoguy29 in United States, 02 Sep 2010 17:08

These aren't based off the game AT ALL. It's obvious because of these two sets, the burrows and the train. The game is years 1-4, there was no Fenrir Greyback, Bellatrix LeStrange or Luna Lovegood in the first four.

Posted by JaseTJ in United States, 02 Sep 2010 19:25

@Legoguy29: They're not supposed to be from the game. They're mostly supposed to be just memorable scenes from the movies. And if anyone has The Burrow yet, can I have news on the fez??

Posted by cs38135 in United States, 03 Sep 2010 08:24

First off, it's the BURROW, not "Burrows". Secondly, barrenaaron, FIVE of the six are redesigns, only the Burrow wasn't done before. Lastly, I think the Hogwarts is from a mixture of stories, just like the $400 Death Star. It could be 4 or 5 because of Sirius's face, 7 because of Voldemort being at Hogwarts, 3 or 7 because of the Dementors, etc.

Okay, I'm done. Anyway, I plan to get the Burrow and Freeing Dobby right when they come out, and I hope to get Hogwarts Castle later, too.

Harrypotter2010, this'll be the FOURTH Hogwarts Castle. (Sorry, I have an annoying knack for correcting people).

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 03 Sep 2010 08:56

available at tru.com for pre-order but with TRU markup.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 03 Sep 2010 10:21

Yeah I saw that, your annoying knack to correct people ant the TRU markups on the Harry Potter sets. ;) Just kidding! Way more than I expected too. Usually it is only by a dollar or two, not by $4-20 per set.

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 03 Sep 2010 12:05

Well this Hogwarts Castle looks worth getting. South of the border it's only $130 US!? For the great prices Harry Potter sets still sell for on Ebay, I'm sure getting a few sets is a wise purchase. The burrow is a bit too expensive, but maybe I'll buy the $20 and impulse ones.

The lego website has some pretty good images, so you got to love that ZOOM!

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 03 Sep 2010 14:04

I believe TRU is expecting non-LEGO Harry POtter fans to see the sets and not be any wiser as regards the $$.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 03 Sep 2010 15:02

I think they are doing it because they know Harry Potter is popular, it is Lego and because they are counting on people being impulsive. If people are smart then they would buy them on s@h or at a Lego store. If they do, they will save alot of money.

Posted by collectormom in United States, 03 Sep 2010 19:15

Holy cow the TRU prices for Harry Potter are crazy!

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 04 Sep 2010 12:03

They are kind of expensive, but the figures and new parts make them worth it in my view - check out the new owls, Invisibility cloak, figure hairpieces, dementors, and even the golden quidditch pieces!

Posted by finger2314 in United Kingdom, 04 Sep 2010 12:27

whats TRU? just to specify

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 04 Sep 2010 12:38

TRU = Toys R Us, a toy store in the United States.

Thx, and what is everyone talking about with the fez? I have looked on every picture I can find of the burrow and I have found no trace of the mysterious fez, apart from in the lego websites official animation, in which there's a floating red cylinder coming from Bellatrix's wand. Link:
