    More details...

There have been rumors for a couple of weeks that Walmart was to begin selling Series 2 Minifigures here in the U.S.  Brickset member syahcire however, is now reporting that he has found them on a "sidecap hanging display" in the LEGO section at a Walmart in Arlington, TX.  As many of you have already noted, it definitely appears that the U.S. distribution for Series 2 has been much better than Series 1.  Besides Walmart, Series 2 has been available at Target, Toys R Us, Borders, and LEGO Stores not to mention independent shops, TOYSRUS.COM and LEGOSHOP.COM among others.

Haven't seen them.

Posted by Jarod98 in United Kingdom, 14 Sep 2010 18:01

It's nice to hear that they're available at Wal*Mart. Like Sword2211 said I haven't seen them either, but hopeful Wal*Mart will give me luck, sadly I probably won't be able to go until next week so I won't be able to give any info until then. Thanks syahcire for giving specific details about where they are. :-)

Found these by surprise last night at Walmart in Frisco TX. Lego aisle, hanging display. Looked to be the equivalent of 2 boxes. Funny thing was all of the Spartans were already gone! Just wanted 1. Found most everything else. Thank goodness for the barcode sheet.

Posted by the_culture in United States, 14 Sep 2010 20:00

Haven't seen any at Wal-Mart or Target, but TRU had 2 boxes over the weekend and I was able to score 12 of the 16! And got an extra Cop and Jungle Explorer.

I need to check the stores again. We have 4 Targets in my area and they have been taking forever getting those minifigs out.

Posted by SillyQuack in United States, 14 Sep 2010 20:24

Ah, very cool. I'll have to go get more Spartans!

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 14 Sep 2010 20:26

I Would Rush to Mine Immediatley, But I Already Have a Complete set Plus an Extra Spartan and Weight Lifter. :)

Posted by brickmatt in United States, 14 Sep 2010 20:44

With 3 Wal-Marts and a Target in the area, I probably didn't have to rush to TRU as soon as they arrived there.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 14 Sep 2010 20:49

Yeah but who knew that Target and/or Walmart would be carrying them. I got lucky. I got 11 of 16 from the Lego store and then the other 5 I got from TRU.com. I still have some extras and am still looking to trade if anyone in Phoenix is interested. I have 4 karate masters, 2 ringmasters, 2 surfers and 1 mime. I am looking for series 1 figures.

Posted by rruddick in United States, 14 Sep 2010 21:00

I found that the distribution of minifigs in the walmart vertical displays is not the same as the target and TRU boxes. Has anyone bought the entire walmart 120 minifig display and analyzed the distribution yet?

Posted by cheeseballs in United States, 14 Sep 2010 21:04

I was lucky and got them all at target but I haven't seen them at wal mart yet.

Posted by diehardlegofan in United States, 14 Sep 2010 21:08

At my TRU, they were located with all the Twilight products. Pretty unusual...

Posted by yys4u in United States, 14 Sep 2010 21:14

Lets hope this time around people wont horde spartans. It got pretty ridiculous hearing about how people have 10, 15, 25 spartans...

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 14 Sep 2010 22:23

Becareful at TRU. Some of the managers have started really getting upset with all of the calls and people wanting to pick these up. The other thing is that they are limiting you to 5 but some people are telling other stores of 2,5, or 10.

Posted by Jimihendrix in United States, 14 Sep 2010 22:41

I went to my toys r us and they had the minifigs in the back because 2 people stole 2 boxes. so iam super glad they are at Walmart.

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 14 Sep 2010 22:44

@AZFIREWOLF: That Not so Bad. I'm Trying to Grab as Many Weight Lifters as I Can (Not Quite Sure Why, But I Just Love Everything about Him) :D So I'm Hoping - If I Find Them at a Walmart by Chance - To Only Get 1 or 2 and Maybe get more Later on....

Posted by Orange Lemons in United States, 14 Sep 2010 22:51

Good thing there's a Walmart near me, so next time I go i'll have to check. Still need to see if Target has them out too.

Posted by aliby422 in United States, 14 Sep 2010 23:29

I saw these locally at Planet Toys here in Denver Colorado. They were complete sets and singles.

Posted by LobsterWarrior in United States, 15 Sep 2010 00:26

Grrr.....I have yet to even FIND them at any TRU or Targets. Hopefully I can get some from Wal-Mart and get A spartan, cause with everyone hoarding Spartans...Ah you know what I mean.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 00:35

@lobsterwarrior: have you tried Legoland? People have posted on this site that they have mass quantities of them.

Posted by IspyLego1234 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 00:39

I finally found them!!!!!! I had to go to the front desk to get them. They only allow five per customer, but I had my mom and brother, so we got the whole box and split the remaining minifigures. So if you are having trouble finding them go to the front desk! I'm still a little bummed that I didn't get series one, but oh well.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 01:40

@Ispylego1234: where did you find them at?

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 15 Sep 2010 02:33

@IpsyLego1234 - I'm in Australia and I didn't get Series 1 either, I came out of my Dark Ages too late! I hope Series 2 gets to my side of the world soon!

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 15 Sep 2010 04:14

Glad you guys in the U.S. are finally managing to get your hands on these after the series 1 shortages - enjoy !

Posted by LindsayJoy in United States, 15 Sep 2010 06:55

Hello All!

Just go to Bricklink.com

For 41.88 you an have a superlot of all 16! I used this shop, you have to register. With the shipping etc it winds up being like fifty bucks. Its a small markup and you can order 2, like I did, and keep one batch sealed.

I have no affiliation with the shop, I just had a great experience.

http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=MagicMagnus

Look on the left side for minfigure series 2. I like series two overall more then series one, IMHO.

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, 15 Sep 2010 08:42

I wish Wal*Mart here would re-stock and Zellers would put theirs out.
P.S: Zellers is a Canadian store run by Hudson Bay.

Posted by gamerguy90 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 09:05

As of 8:00AM EST Wal*Mart in Germantown,MD had none, neither did the Target across the street.

Posted by legogirl19 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 10:46

I guess it is pretty obvious at this point that these little guys are far more widely spread than series 1, possibly even higher production!
I personally have found them @ a local TRU, TRU online, Lego store, Lego online, empty box at Target, and was able to scan an empty bag of mine to confirm these at Wal-Mart, but sadly did not see them there yet! (Palos Hills/Orland Hills IL area) Whereas with series 1, I was extremely lucky to find them in the last shipment at my local Lego store! They were no where else to be found!
In my opinion I am very grateful that these are more readily available to most, so that those who had bought up a bunch are not really able to gouge prices in the secondary market! I have sold some of my extras, but for little to no profit. Only because I think I did the same thing as most collectors, that were able at first, which was to buy as many as I could as fast as I could, given the past history with Series 1! Now though, it seems Lego will get their wish and these truly are there for the kids!

Yay for TLG!!!!!

Posted by e394ken in United States, 15 Sep 2010 12:22

Yeah, the kids are getting them I can vouch for many that have them in there hands. Secondary is still there and will always be there as long as the demand is greater than the quantity. I am curious at the numbers produced. If someone here has any kind of resources for this it would be interesting to note.

Posted by doodlebird in United States, 15 Sep 2010 15:22

austin, tx update....

south target (ben white near south lamar) has a few scattered ones left.
the nearby walmart (at brodie) had none, and employees were clueless... shocker! :)
lego store in barton creek mall had pretty many left, but i suspect they'll be gone by EOD.
yesterday they went through 1/2 their stock.
i took a handful of witches and vampires... halloween's comin up!

Posted by liisadd76 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 16:17

Walmart in Cedar Park, TX at 620 near Lakeline has 120 (minus the 9 I purchased) in the back. I picked those up to use as party favors and the girl just pulled them out to let me look through them. I think she put them right back in the stockroom, but you can access them by giving the employee the item number 70051934.

Posted by steve888 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 16:39

The Target in my area (CA) has raised the price to 2.99 to match TRU even before they put them out.

Posted by sarlacc98 in United Kingdom, 15 Sep 2010 16:43

have not seen any in Utah yet.

Posted by Mycroft42 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 17:09

I haven't found them at Wal-Marts in Fresno, CA yet, but the Targets still have a reasonable supply. I do want to add something for the people complaining about adults buying up lots of the spartans..... I agree it's not cool if the intent is to simply run home and slap 'em up on e-bay. HOWEVER, if the intent is to build a diorama of a battle scene or some other period piece, then I think the AFOLs have every right to hunt down every spartan they NEED. After all, just like kids, AFOLs are buying them to support the lego company and enjoy the minifigs.

@Crt2: I'm glad someone else likes the weightlifter. I was planning on using mine with the martial artists and wrestlers (from series 1) to build a sports festival scene....... now, if only there were a sumo, it'd be perfect...... (thought: Martial Artist head, surfer torso, lifeguard legs. Might work)......

Posted by IspyLego1234 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 17:26

@starfire2: TRU. They weren't in the regular lego section, but at the front desk where you usually return items and that sort. I bet people were buying the whole box of figs. So to my understanding; they put them in the front so that they could limit how many people could buy.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 17:43

They were doing that at the TRU near me but it was because they only got 1 box.

Posted by Sword2211 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 18:16

@Jimihendrix: How could a whole box be stolen without someone noticing?

Posted by LobsterWarrior in United States, 15 Sep 2010 18:49

@starfire
I really don't want to go to LEGOLAND and have to buy a ticket to get inside to buy from The Big Shop.

@lobsterwarrior: according to multiple people who have posted here, you can get a shoppers pass and just pay for parking. And the parking will be refunded if you spend at least $20. Also a few people posted that you can order a box of the mimis over the phone and they will ship them to you minus the sales tax. If all of the above is true, then I think it is well worth it. Otherwise I will wait until I can get them at Target again like this series and just buy a whole unopened box.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 20:04

@Dino boys: That same list is available on brickapedia.

Posted by yys4u in United States, 15 Sep 2010 20:25

@LobsterWarrior

I can confirm the legoland shoppers pass. I've done it before, its a great tool as a cheap date too. Go park as normal as if your going into the park, pay like 12 or 15 for parking. Then off to the right by the front gates is the customer service booth. (I'm pretty sure is customer service) go there and tell them you want a shoppers pass, they will take your credit card info down tho, this is incase you spend longer than an hour in there, they will charge you the full price. So you have an hour to go in, and the big shop is right inside the gate. If you pay more than 20 bucks there, even if its food, just show them your receipt when you go back to customer service, and they will pay you back your parking in cash.

Also, there are a lot of us in San Diego that are willing to trade/sell, I don't really have any spartans to sell but I'm hoping to go check some walmarts/target soon so I'll try to find one for you.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 20:51

I love San Diego. I lived there for 20+ years before we moved to AZ. I still have mini's for trade if anyone wants to. I have 4 karate masters, 2 ringmasters, 2 surfers and a mime. My son wants an adventurer. I am also looking for series 1 mini's.

I just got off the phone with Walmart. They said to call back tomorrow around 9:00 am and to ask for the The Toy manager and he could research it further. Their system shows the that it is non- replenishment. meaning they have a limited quantity of them. They don't have any on order at this time. I plan on calling tomorrow to find out what is going on. I suggest you do the same.. This way they can contact the right people and get enough in to satisfy everyone.

The person I talked to did not know how to do her job, I've worked in retail for 5 years now. I knew what questions to ask. She was very surprised I knew so much and could not help me as much as she wanted to. She tried to tell me that they were "sold out". I told her "you never got them in yet... they are new.. they just came out..". I asked her if she got check other Walmarts? She also told me there was no way of checking out other Walmart's inventory numbers. I asked her if she could check her depot? she didn't know what a depot was... I explained to her what a depot was.. (the place that fills your trucks with the stock you put on the floor. then she put me on hold again.. then she told me that she was not able to research any further and I would have to call back and talk with the toy manager at 9:00 am. he would be able to do more..

The only thing I hate about Walmart besides their low wages they pay their employees, is that their employees don't know diddly. They can't tell you anything or just don't know. I know the whole walmart story.. They have great prices.. But their employees are really low skilled.. I guess that is what you get when you pay them minimum wage..

Posted by legowifey in United States, 15 Sep 2010 21:29

Someone posted on one of these sites that every Target is only getting 2 boxes and that's all. Has anyone else heard this? It's really frustrating calling Target 3 times a week. Also, I live in Southeastern Tennessee and I have been to 4 Walmarts and no luck. Are TX Walmarts the only one carrying them at this point?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 21:35

I think so. It was like that when they were first released in the US. Out here in AZ we didn't get them until nearly a month after Texas got them.

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 21:39

@legowifey -- In my area (Minnesota) they have replenished stock at most of the Target stores.

Posted by SSJ2 Dark in United States, 15 Sep 2010 21:42

UKver2.0, I've been to four Targets in the MN metro over the past few days, and haven't tracked down any. Which ones did you have luck with?

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 22:25

@SSJ2 Dark -- Yeah, I haven't had any luck since the weekend. Here's a breakdown:

Bloomington -- Saturday they had 94 packs (I had purchased some there before and their stock was down to nothing last week so this was, at least, their second batch. I bought a random selection of 31. Their stock currently says 26, but they are gone (misplaced or stolen). I'm worried that stock has to reach 0 before they replenish.

Richfield -- Someone reported finding some here during that first week. Their stock went down to zero at some point. I made a trip out there last week and had to get them to open a new case. Again, at least two shipments came to that store. As of this afternoon the system said they had 20 or 30-something. I didn't ask them to check the shelf though.

Edina -- It took them a while to get them. As far as I know they only had one case. All out now.

Eagan -- Another store said they had 120. I went there and couldn't find them. The scanner said there was none in the stockroom. I didn't ask anyone to try and find them.

Ridgedale -- The system says they have 118. I haven't been out there, but I think this means that someone bought each box as 1.99 figures (has been reported here as happening).

Saint Louis Park -- Never got them.

Eden Prairie -- I haven't been there since before they put them out. Before they set the Halloween I got them to bring me out a box from which I picked out three Spartans. For a while, other stores would list their stock as having 117 which lead me to believe they put them back in the storeroom. When I called Bloomington today they listed off the stock of other Targets in the area, but did not list this store which means they are probably out.

My concern in all of this is that the computers are off on their counts (most likely due to theft) and that will hold off the stores from getting more stock.

Toys R Us in Minnetonka still has a lot. They cost 2.99 though.

Toys R Us Bloomington had a few as of this afternoon.

Randy at MOA Lego Store told me they might be getting them on Fr

Posted by liisadd76 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 22:34

@UKver2.0: I didn't want to say anything until I started hearing buzz about it, but when I checked several Targets last week to try to find minifigs for friends, several of them told me they had a very large number of them (in one case 120, in another 94), but noone could find the boxes anywhere and they did not have a backroom location. There seems to be a problem at the Targets, but is it theft or what is it?

Posted by legowomen1980p in United States, 15 Sep 2010 23:38

liisadd76,
60 come in a box, 120 means they have 2 boxes.. they are not very big boxes. each box measures 11 1/8 inches long, 4 3/4 inches high and 7 3/4 inches wide. these blue boxes are relatively small.. They are usually found in the Halloween section at Target..

If they have 120 of them, they are note sorted through..if they have less than 120, then they are in Halloween.. by the candy..

Good luck.. ;-)

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 15 Sep 2010 23:46

@liisadd76 -- You know, I've never paid attention to store inventories before. Maybe this is typical. There have been a number of reports here about open bags.

One thing -- I returned some to a TRU and they never put them back on the shelf. When I called to see if they had any a few days later it took them a while to find them and they said they had them up at customer service. Perhaps Targets take a while to get their returns back to the floor.

Also, the 204... item number places the minifigs in the toy department so I suppose some might find their way to the wrong shelves.

I sure hope Target isn't having a bad experience selling these.

Posted by yys4u in United States, 16 Sep 2010 02:49

Just came back from a 24/7 walmart in San Diego area...boy are their employees worthless. I asked a lady restocking the toy section and she just looked at the package and said nope, we dont carry. She didn't even scan it. I checked a price scanner and it showed up on the system for 1.97, so I found someone else with a scanner. He looked like he didn't even know how to use it. I asked him if he could check other stores so he left somewhere and came back and basically said he couldn't find any info... so yea..

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 16 Sep 2010 03:07

@Dino Boys - If you got that off Brickipedia, don't get your hopes up. I've found plenty of false info on there before and I wouldn't be surprised if this too was incorrect.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 16 Sep 2010 10:05

I'm on the road through the southwest visiting National Parks and I bought 4 Spartans plus some other S2 in the Target at Glenwood Springs, CO Tuesday. Sorry Glenwood Springs, but I'm bringing those back to San Diego. Looked at another Target in Pueblo, CO Wednesday and there was just an empty box. Been to one Walmart last Sunday near St. George, UT and didn't see any. I guess I could have checked ~20 Targets/Walmarts that I've passed along during my roady along the I-15, I-70, I-25, and I-40 (CA, UT, CO, NM, AZ, CA) but that would be too time consuming. It doesn't hurt to mix in a little toy shopping to break down the long drive.

@LobsterWarrior - let me know if you need one!

Posted by voypro in United States, 16 Sep 2010 10:11

Some thoughts on Wal-Mart stocking them.

Some collectors of Minifigs may be feeling, oh no they have hit the mainstream big box stores.... now they will be worthless (or should I say worth less)

Everyone should recall a few years ago a product called Pokemon. Pokemon were getting popular, being sold only at hobby, baseball card, comic shops, and other speciality shops. Pokemon was basically unknown at that time; then cards went viral as soon as they were released at every mainstream box store.

So, having a wider release CAN help the popularity and value of a product.

I honestly think series 1 will be $9-10 for basic figures very soon. For me, series 2 is twice, or more, as easy to find as series 1.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 16 Sep 2010 10:28

@voypro - I agree, the minifigs are like crack (just say no kids). If the general public were to see how collectible these toys are, Target and Walmart would need to have more than one case to keep up with the demand. After all they are only $2/ea. One case only completes 6 sets... that's like 3 families with 2 kids. If you're in a small town, you better be one of the few people who like LEGO minifigs or else you're going to competing for that much in-demand Spartan or Cheerleader. Once people discover the Minifigs in the later series, such as S3 and S4, they are going to try to get S1 and S2. S1 is impossible so the prices will be reflect that. If S2 sells out in the next month, then who knows... I'm wondering if Target will continue to display these items in the seasonal section, rather than the LEGO or impulse sections of the store to increase visibility... not that it needs it now with the supply being low. Who buy toys in the Halloween section?

Also remember these are LEGO minifigs, which normally go for $2 whether they come from a set, magnet, battle pack, or build-it-yourself. The material may be slightly inferior, but I don't think people really care as long as the parts are compatible with other Legos. The parts alone are unique and are useful to collectors and the secondary market. Before the Minifigs, the stand wasn't available so that part is worth something if collectors are interested in displaying other non collectible minifigs in such a fashion.

Posted by ltc don in United States, 16 Sep 2010 12:06

Out in Kansas City KS area, Walmart had the minifigs back in the stock room. Kind manager brought the display case out for me, scored 7 spartans and 7 pharrohs. Bringing my total to 20 Spartans and 15 Pharrohs. I hit the Target at Legends (6 S & 6 P) and Zona Rosa (3/3) The TRU in North KC kept strict limit of 5 bags per visit.

Posted by copperwonder96 in United States, 16 Sep 2010 13:18

Compared to the other series, I think series 2 has the most collectability and apeal so stock up at the Walmarts while you can. Also, the $2.99 is the new "recommended retail price" for some and future productions runs. I called to complain at Entertainment Earth and they said that's what the memo from Lego says. So series 3 = [speculation] $2.99.
As far as series 3, I know the "leak" from another blog and he has been dead accurate on most of his leaks (including series 2, SW and the Premium Creator sets), thus those descriptions from wiki are likely to be accurate ("female dancer" equals balerina with fabric tutu me thinks...) If the elf has "ears" or is some kind of fantasy warrior, I think he or the alien is the next Spartin/Zombie [again, all speculation].

Posted by mm08846 in United States, 16 Sep 2010 13:29

Wow just left Target in New Jersey and they have raised the Minifig series 2 price to 2.99. I had grabbed a couple of boxes about two weeks ago and they were 1.99. I had been checking a different Target waiting for them to come in and yesterday the spot where they will be said 1.99 now today says 2.99. I had an empty package so I confirmed the price at the scanner and it is now 2.99. Hope most got them at 1.99. Don't know what they will be at Walmart lets hope they are 1.99.

One of the team members was willing to go back there and bring us out one, but when we asked to see the whole box so we could pick the one we wanted, he said he couldn't do that since their Halloween section isn't set yet. I think they are missing out on an opportunity to make some money. Oh well! I was able to get them from 3 other Targets. That one always sucks. They never have their stuff out on time. As for Walmart, every time I have scanned an empty package, it still comes up as $1.97. So no mark ups yet here in AZ although I have yet to see them in a Walmart out here either.

Posted by cara in United States, 16 Sep 2010 16:58

That is a shame, $2 was a perfect price. I even took some back to TRU because LEGO store in the mall had them and I'ld rather support LEGO directly than have then only earn wholesale less distributor costs. But raising the MRP turns me off these it make me feel I'm being gouged.

Posted by Sword2211 in United States, 16 Sep 2010 17:23

didn't see them at santee walmart

Posted by voypro in United States, 16 Sep 2010 17:35

Yep, just as i thought when Lego saw TRU's jacking them up to $2.99 and they were selling out, they would raise the Suggested Retail Price. The only good thing about this is that TRU gets there wholesale price raise as well... This just means, don't be shocked to see $3.49 at a TRU near you soon.

Posted by voypro in United States, 16 Sep 2010 17:37

Target charging $2.99?

Just checked at Lego.com (http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=8684&cn=634&d=70) and at the time of this posting Lego is still at the $1.99 price point. Limit 16 (per order, I have had 4 orders sent to my same address).

Posted by sarlacc98 in United Kingdom, 16 Sep 2010 17:42

i went to the South Jordan target and found them in the halloween section there were two left and I got them they were Life guard and witch.

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 16 Sep 2010 18:16

The target at the Scottsdale Pavillions has almost 3/4 of a box. However they are 2.99. Thou the original sticker was right next to the 2.99 price. Oh well!. I stocked up on the Atlantis subs. A good set. Like I need more, but you never know.

Posted by yys4u in United States, 16 Sep 2010 18:30

THIS IS PREPOSTEROUS!!!!! If they are gonna raise the price to 3 bucks, that's almost the same as at the lego stores when you build 3 for 10 bucks!! They better raise the quality of the figures then or something.

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 16 Sep 2010 18:37

There's none at The Ceres Walmart. :(

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 16 Sep 2010 18:54

I think Lego is going to keep the price where it is. They have no control over the price that other stores charge. 1.99 is a great price point to get kids into a store so that mom and dad will buy more for their children.

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 16 Sep 2010 20:00

@Dino Boys - Oh okay. Still, I don't like to believe new product info until there are images, and that's not just for LEGO, it's for all my collections. I've been disappointed too many times before by spammers on Wikis or other sites. Anyways, good luck on the minifigure hunt!

Posted by atxdad in United States, 16 Sep 2010 22:02

@liisadd76, Thanks for the tip about the Austin, TX Cedar Park Walmart.

To all, here's a strategy that might work at other Walmarts:
I went on 9/16/10 to the Cedar Park Walmart and asked a staffer to check inventory on item #70051934. She found 111 in stock (confirming liisaad's count) and agreed to check the back for stock. She came out with an UNOPENED box (probably #2 of 2), opened it, and left it with me. I can tell you there are 6 Spartans in a new box; start looking for them at the TOP and work your way down. I was able to buy all 6, no limit, at $1.97 each. To anyone going back to that particular Walmart, the minifigs box was left at the end of the LEGO aisle near the stockroom doors. To partially compensate for the bad karma I am due for selfishly buying all the Spartans, I helped a mom and 2 boys find all the figures they wanted using my bar code cheat sheet.

Posted by MisterFubar in United States, 16 Sep 2010 22:06

It's nice to see everyone buying up all the Spartans, my daughter who is trying to complete my collection really appreciates it.

Posted by Dino Boys in United States, 16 Sep 2010 22:29

@TinyTurbosCityandToyStory - I understand and take your advice

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 16 Sep 2010 22:48

@MisterFubar -- I see you have the Spartan listed among the sets you own. Maybe you could give her yours?

Posted by MisterFubar in United States, 16 Sep 2010 23:03

@Ukver2.0 - I did give her mine, and she's wanting to replace it for me.

I'll get one, it's really not that big of deal. It's just always irked me a little bit to see adults buying up a stores entire stock of something that's really meant for children. I guess I'll never make a good collector.

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 16 Sep 2010 23:43

@MisterFubar -- In that case, I recommend the Lego branded stores. Since Lego has greater control over what happens in their stores, they've been carding people buying the minifigs -- if you're older than their target audience, they won't sell them to you. :P

Posted by MiniFever in United States, 16 Sep 2010 23:57

$3!? Target, this isn't like you

Posted by legokenny in United States, 17 Sep 2010 00:27

I can confirm that, just went to target today in the Denver, CO area and they were $2.99!
I guess I should just be happy with the 23 spartans I have.

legowoman1980p I am also a victim of the 1980's commercials. I can't seem to get enough Legos.

Posted by squareduck in United States, 17 Sep 2010 00:30

Heads up for anybody in the Pacific North West, Don't know about Walmart but I went to the Tualitin, Oregon,
Fred Meyer store and they had 3 untouched boxes sitting on top of a aisle Lego Display.
Price $1.99, no limit, and for anyone familiar with the chain, they have sales on Lego's all the time.
Right now in my area it's buy 2 get 1 free AND there is a weekly add coupon for 10% off all toys!
I gave in to my darker side and grabbed up 42 packs for a grand total of $50.40 ($1.20 a pack and no sales tax in Oregon as well!)
Let the stampede begin!!

Posted by Mycroft42 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 05:02

Stoped at three Targets today, and one had the figs at $1.99 and the other two at $2.99. Good thing I got what I wanted at the first one....

Posted by doodlebird in United States, 17 Sep 2010 11:35

@atxdad and liisadd76 - the walmart at parmer and i-35 had a new/full display of the minifigs. it's a vertically oriented box, with three sections (columns) per row... i think five rows (maybe 6). i think the entire display was 120 pieces.

it wasn't in the lego aisle, but in the next aisle over (away from the bikes) down low... sitting on the very bottom of the shelf. good luck finding it! BUT i found EIGHT spartans in the package, when by previous counts, there should only be SIX. Has anyone else seen this new store display or found a higher # of spartans?

FYI ... walmart at brodie had none (don't know about the future), and the 183/i-35 had none, and said they wouldn't be getting any. odd.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 17 Sep 2010 13:11

@UKver2.0 - That's pretty funny.

@atxdad - This Walmart box, was it just a brown box or a "blue" Lego box? Because there definitely are only 3 Spartans per "blue" Lego box.

@doodlebird - I never thought to check other aisles at my local Walmarts. Doh!

Posted by doodlebird in United States, 17 Sep 2010 13:42

@ yellowcastle - the walmart box is blue, but it holds 120 figs and it is vertically oriented. you see the frontside of 15 individual packages,

"old" box of 60 - three rows, with twenty pkgs in each rows. we all know this one, as it was the same for series 1.

"new" walmart display box/stand - three columns running vertically, five rows that run horizontally. 8 pkgs in each "square" created by this grid.

Posted by AudiGuy in United States, 17 Sep 2010 14:05

All Target stores should have increased the price to $2.99

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 17 Sep 2010 14:41

@doodlebird - That's very interesting. To date, I've not heard of any retailer getting their own specialized shipping box/display stand thingamajig. That would explain, though, the 6 Spartans. I too wonder if this box/display has the same complement of figures as 2 standard boxes. I haven't been following that closely, but I imagine you've seen this display somewhere in TX? It doesn't appear that they've arrived at Walmarts out East yet...

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 16:24

Or farther west! Still haven't seen them in Walmarts in AZ yet!

Posted by ltc don in United States, 17 Sep 2010 17:55

When I got the Shift Manager @ Walamrt in Kansas to crack open the box, I was suprised to find 7 spartans and 7 Pharrohs. I was concerned that my cheat sheet was wrong and did three double checks before walking to the front a pay. Yes the display was vertical and unique to Walmart. I did not count the number of figs that fronted the case but 15 sounds about right. It is a bit awkward once you look through the dispaly, it is difficult for the figure packs to stay in their cardboard sleeves - but we can assume they won't be there long...

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 18:03

@Minnesotans --

Found them at a Minnesota Walmart (Shakopee). Picked up a couple Ringmasters and gave a kid my barcode sheet. Unfortunately the figures were not in their display box so I missed out on seeing the new setup.

There are no Spartans so if that's all you need, skip this location. I assume they have everything else because they still had ~110 packs out of the 120 they received.

The figures were not with the other Lego toys and were not on an end cap -- or at least, were not on the end of the end cap.

In other news, I called the MOA Lego store this morning and they said they did not get them in like they expected. Instead of a new delivery date guess, they suggested lego.com.

@Walmart shoppers --

The item number mentioned in the comments here (70051934) works for finding stock of these. The stores do have the ability to check other stores in the area, but not all sales people are adept at doing it.

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 18:06

@ltc don -- Ah, that makes sense. There were exactly seven missing from the 120 at the Walmart I went to and zero Spartans.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 18:59

It's best to ask at customer service. They have a computer and can tell you store counts as well. Don't ask people on the sales floor, they all give the a-typical Walmart answer " if you don't see it, we don't have it. Sorry."

Posted by yys4u in United States, 17 Sep 2010 19:10

@ MisterFubar - I completely agree. I'm glad to see someone else here that feels the same way as me.

Yet I don't want to sound like a hypocrite, I too have "horded" spartans, but hardly as much as some of the other higher counts people here have. I will sporatically pick up a couple spartans should I rarely come across them for future trading opportunity as people have pointed out.

However I am STRONGLY against clearing out a whole store of their stock of spartans. I commented on this on the target forum but no one really agreed. As people pointed out before, I know if you leave even one spartan, chances are its going to go the next AFOL that comes in. Even if the chances of little johnny who is desperately looking for 1 spartan to finish his collection, will find the last spartan, at least there is a chance, whereas if you just blatantly clear the whole floor of spartans, there is NO chance he will get it. Thats my position.

Posted by MisterGeolix814 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 19:55

now, walmart has them.

Posted by yys4u in United States, 17 Sep 2010 21:26

checked another walmart, this time in Orange County. Nothing yet. Has anyone managed to get them out of the stock room and has pointers? The people are really no help. Or when you find them are they just out on the floor already?

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 21:30

@yys4u -- Well, I don't think you sound like a hypocrite. I feel the same exact same way. If someone has more Spartans than me, they are a despicable hoarder depriving little Johnny of a complete set. I have x Spartans and that's about as much as you should have. Just yesterday I heard a guy who had x+1. Disgusting. :P

Of course, if you have less than me, "Na na na boo boo!"

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 21:47

I don't think Walmart has a stockroom. I have been told this on many occasions by employees. They get small trucks during the week and on one day a week they get a really BIG truck. That is why if you are ever at one of there 24/7 locations, they start rolling out pallets around 9-10pm and block all the main areas. Usually all the stuff is stocked by morning. That is also why some of their shelves and peg hooks are overflowing.
As for the Spartan debate. I think, take what you want. Don't worry about "little Johnny" because most parents don't usually know what the mini's are, or how to figure out what is in the package. Unless you are an AFOL, and your kids grew up playing with Lego's and watching your collection grow. They are clueless, much like their parents. My kids only knew about the mini's because I showed them the pics online. Funny thing is, only my 10 year old wanted a Spartan. My 16 year old wanted a Pharoah, and a karate guy.

Posted by fdwang in United States, 17 Sep 2010 22:32

I agree. Little johnny doesn't know JACK. The only place little Johnny may know about the spartan is if he/she frequents the Lego store. Outside of that, at walmart and target, it is not bloody likely a bunch of little Johnnys wanting or even knowing they are there anyway. Let the AFOL take them all, at least that way they might someday be available for grown up Johnny looking on bricklink to complete his/her set 10 years from now.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 17 Sep 2010 22:40

Or hopefully if mom and dad are AFOL's they will save him a set!

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 17 Sep 2010 22:54

it is good to hear that lego is putting more spartans in boxes, as for the don't buy all of the spartans, or little johnny won't get any, if little johnny knows about them he will find a way to get a spartan.

Posted by MiniFever in United States, 17 Sep 2010 22:57

still need a pop star

Posted by ltc don in United States, 17 Sep 2010 23:52

The ability to go into the stock room depends on the Walmart. As you can possibly tell, I am in the service. I was checking the Walmarts in the Waco, Temple Texas area in August with no luck. Those stores allowed all emplyoees to go into the stockroom and pull product. But the product was not available until late August in TRU only. Got my 1st Spartan and Pharroh with a witch, Karate guy( fits in with the white ninjas) in Oklahome City TRU. The Target got them and the formations expanded - just Spartans and Pharrohs

As for my hometown Walmart, when I saw that the MF were showing up on the posting string, I check at my local store here in Lansing KS. The employee in the morning used her scanner and showed me the results...in the store but not on the floor. She was not allowed to go back into the stock room. That evening, this past Wednesday, I stopped back after work and asked another employee. Fortunately for me, the Shift Manager was a "toy guy" He looked at the package and said " I have not seen those out here" I explained the situation and he did not hesitate to go and give me first crack at the case. Pulled the display out of the shipping crate for me and put it back in when I was done.

I only wanted Spatans and Pharrohs. Me and my boys are collecters. Our Brickshelf name is "DGH" you can see the photos we posted last summer. When we had 3500 castle figs. We are now approaching 3800. I would be happy with what I have now, would like a few more of each. Do not think I need them all or have more than anyone else. I am honest when I tell the employees at any store, I just want to beat the guy that is going to buy the whole case and sell it on ebay for $6-10 per figure.

I don't like to think about series three when I will only want to buy what can fit into castle and have to become very creative to get what will work. The nearest Lego store is a six hour drive. - LEGO please keep bar codes down with the guys who sell on line for profit.

Wal-Mart in Farmingdale NY didn't have 'em late last night.

Anybody interested in trading the fig from pre order of LEGO Universe for a Spartan or 2? I have extra Spartans and want the fig from LEGO Universe.

Posted by alpheratz in United States, 18 Sep 2010 13:55

Walmart Hwy 6 in Sugarland Texas put out the 120 minifig display on Friday afternoon around 5 pm. $1.97 ea.
Like others have reported these were pegs with 3 rows horizontal across and 6 vertical pegs.

I found 5 Spartans with little effort on the second row left side. I got 3 Pop Stars 4 Mexicans, 2 Disco Stu, and 2 Vampires I needed to complete the sets for myself and my son. Left all the rest for others to find. This display had just been placed a few minutes earlier, as I spoke with the lady who was stocking as I came up. No doubt this assortment is quite different from the original lego box assortment, But I did not go through the whole thing.

Copiague Target didn't have the figs yet. Farmingdale Target had 'em last night but for $2.99!

Went to The Same Target as Usual, I Scanned The Barcode and it said $2.99!! They Should be at The Sisk Tommorow. I Guess This Means No More Wieght lifters or Vampires! :'v (

Posted by MiniFever in United States, 18 Sep 2010 16:04

i think they should make some of series 3 in flesh color, those are my favorite,

Posted by yys4u in United States, 18 Sep 2010 20:14

Definitely no flesh colors. That steers away from the whole lego experience. I have never liked those much. They are cool for certain movie sets but for general lego minifigures it would ruin their compatibility with other sets

Also, I checked many targets today in orange county area. All 2.99.

I also found two walmarts that carried them. One had the vertical display everyone mentioned, another had a flat box in line with the rest of the lego sets. Curious..

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 19 Sep 2010 11:58

does anyone have a picture of what the display at walmart looks like? i've only been to a couple walmarts, but haven't seen any sign of them at the toy or halloween sections.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 19 Sep 2010 12:47

UNCLE UNCLE.. I cry UNCLE about these figures... I am almost sick of seeing discussions about them :-)
I think it is safe to say Lego fixed their distribution issues with these:-)
It appears they flooded the Market (I guess this will not stop the guys on eBay trying to set lots of 6 and 8 Spartans that I have seen) but this is good, this is how they were intended to be (I'm guessing) -except for the increase everywhere to 3 bucks a fig....

Posted by dragonk1ng79 in United States, 19 Sep 2010 16:27

I went to two Walmarts in Orange County and couldn't find them. I've been stalking this one Target every single day, and when the minifigs arrived, all the Spartans were gone! 0 Spartan so far...

Posted by yys4u in United States, 19 Sep 2010 18:33

@dragonk1ng79

Which target? I was in OC for the weekend, now I'm headed home. I went to a bunch of targets and couldn't find any figures. Customer service sent me to one target that was listed as having 169 figures, I thought she wrote it down wrong, but another target gave me that number too. Well when I finally got there they only had 2 boxes and they were pretty full. But again no spartans.

Walmarts should be getting them soon. 2 in OC area had figures.

I think its funny how target raised their prices, if they are getting a new shipment they are probably thinking they will sell out again really quick, but i think a lot of people are going to start shopping at walmart. Lets hope this brings the price back down...

Posted by dragonk1ng79 in United States, 19 Sep 2010 22:07

@yys4u

I went to the Target at Brookhurst, which now has one box left w/ all the bar codes faced out by someone... I grabbed the singer and karate master out of impulse for $6.50!

Where in the toy section did you find the minifigs at Walmart?

Posted by yys4u in United States, 20 Sep 2010 00:42

@dragonk1ng79

LOL thats the same target I went to. I remember getting my hopes up when I saw both boxes, then when I saw all the barcodes facing out I was bummed...

One walmart had a tray box of figs right in the middle of the lego isle. The other actually had it at the end of "pink" isle. I dont know how to describe it...its in the toy section but the whole isle glows pink cause its all the girl stuff. It was at the end and was one of the vertical displays people have been talking about.

Another note, on my way back to San Diego tonight I stopped at a walmart and had my first success getting minifigures pulled from the stock room!!! It took what seemed like the better part of an hour tho...and multiple attempts by guest services...I really appreciate target now cause its SOO hard to deal with walmart people.. Usually they mean well but don't know how to do anything other than simple returns.. Anyways, I got them pulled from the back room, HOWEVER I asked the guy to bring out a box so I could go through them, he only brought out a hand full, maybe 7-9 and said thats all he could get or carry at the time, i forgot what the lame excuse was. Luckily out of that handful there was 3 spartans! Couldn't resist buying all three...even tho I have come out a couple times against hording. So anyways if by next week you dont find a spartan I might be back in OC and can trade/sell you one if you need.

Posted by dragonk1ng79 in United States, 20 Sep 2010 04:13

@yys4u - That is awesome of you! But I think you deserve those Spartans after all the trouble of finding them. :)

I think yys4u is referring to the two Walmarts in OC. One had the minifigures in the middle of the LEGO section but in some used box (but barely any left by the time I came), and the other had the original box (as pictured above by native1) located at the end of the pink aisle.

Oh yea, I finally found my Greek hoplite! Seems like Target was restocking them....
