Do you know if Collectable Minifigures will also be on sale? If so, how much off? And how much would the Claw Catcher be with a discount? :).

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 01 Oct 2010 22:03

hope this is also in canada :(

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 01 Oct 2010 22:05

I think the Space Police Central and Fire Station will be $59.50, Turbo Tank $91, Arc Fighter $45.50, Lavatraz $38.50, Pig Farm $25.90, Undercover Cruiser $22.40, Police Headquarters $66.50, and the Claw Catcher $28. If so, these are all great deals. As for what discount TRU will offer on other sets, I'd guess something around 10%, though Target did introduce us to 5% sales this Summer. :o)

Posted by LobsterWarrior in United States, 01 Oct 2010 22:07

@yellowcastle - Awesome! So buying the Claw Catcher!

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 01 Oct 2010 22:08

I wish it was like last year when there was no minimum to buy in order to get the freebie. I might just wait until someone sells them on ebay. I don't feel like wasting $80 just to get all 4 ( $20 a week / 1 figure x 4 weeks/ figures) . I am waiting impatiently for a new Lego store to open in Phoenix. I can't wait!!!! Double points and a free lego mini set rattlesnake! Also a free yoda promo brick for helping with the mini build!!!!

Posted by Ash92499 in United States, 01 Oct 2010 22:30

Don't forget to use the $5 off $25 purchase that expires on 10/3 to lower your price further.

Posted by Ash92499 in United States, 01 Oct 2010 22:34

Here's the link for the coupon if anyone needs one.

Posted by Duraz in United States, 01 Oct 2010 23:04

What are the other minifig magnets?

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 01 Oct 2010 23:24

@Duraz - It looks like a Cavalry Officer, a Firefighter, and then a Castle Soldier. I can't wait for Week 2!

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 01 Oct 2010 23:30

Not really a huge savings. You can get 8191 for 39.99, but right now you get double VIP points. So the more you buy the more you earn.

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 01 Oct 2010 23:37

it is in canada, at least the free minifig with $35

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 02 Oct 2010 00:04

Now, I'll definitely have to pick up an Undercover Cruiser for that price!

Posted by atxdad in United States, 02 Oct 2010 01:53

Does the sale on all LEGO include Duplo sets? I have a report of a TRU not honoring the last B2G1 sale for Duplo, so does TRU consider that a distinct brand?

Posted by legojango in United States, 02 Oct 2010 02:12

I just bought Slave I an hour ago.

Posted by bmwlego in United States, 02 Oct 2010 07:16

Ash---thanks for the coupon! Heading over to TRU tomorrow so I'll definitely use this combined with the sale, Rewards R Us $5 coupon and free retro minifig magnet this will be a cool day to shop for LEGO and get a great deal doing so.

Posted by c.lee.r in United States, 02 Oct 2010 09:35

before i buy anything i am going to have to see what the minifigure looks like. just got a turbo tank for 85 so better be one heck of a deal.

Posted by legogirl19 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 10:25

Here is a link from toysnbricks.com to see what the minifigs will look like:

http://toysnbricks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/imperial.jpg

I don't know if I'll be taking advantage of this one, I think I'd rather spend my money at the Lego store with the double VIP points!

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 02 Oct 2010 12:17

This looks like a really awesome deal, and the minifigure magnets look especially promising. I hope my TRU Express store actually has these, as it is only a miniature version of an actual TRU store.

Posted by sidersdd in United States, 02 Oct 2010 12:48

Looks like the sale is already going on on-line.

Posted by LobsterWarrior in United States, 02 Oct 2010 14:56

@legogirl19
Those look awesome! Hope I get the Knight!

Posted by xena6296 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 14:59

Checked my local TRU, no news on the magnet, as well as the 30% off on the mentioned sets. I'm in North CA, any one near by have info on this. Thanks.

Posted by 1265 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 16:40

Just returned home from Costco, North Dallas, and they had all four Lego DK Brickmaster Books (Star Wars, Pirates, Castle, & Atlantis). They were $14.99 each.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 02 Oct 2010 16:45

those are great! they would look great with my spaceman magnet

Posted by atmail35 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 17:34

It looks like the games are 30% off, which would be a good deal for Creationary with the $5 off coupon on top of it. I just hope my store as the magnets, the last time they had the Toy Story and Chrome Star Wars giveaway they didn't get the alien. Very annoying!

Ash92499, thanks for the coupon link!

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=4595400-1
Is this new?

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 19:02

Hey! I Bet, If I Go Up and ask if Magnets are for sale They'll Say They're $2.00! Since TRU.com says that. That's How I Got my Chrome Stormtrooper. ;)

Posted by atmail35 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 19:34

I'm surprised they are listed for $1.99 on the website b/c a 3 pack of Lego magnets retails for $12.99-$14.99 and if on sale it might be $6.99 or 9.99....$1.99 would be a nice deal.

Posted by Unknown User2596 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 19:44

10% off everything else......

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 20:19

^Not THAT Bad I Guess. :\

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 02 Oct 2010 20:39

I hope my store has the Imperial Soldier magnet as well as offering the ability to buy them for the $1.99 price. If so, it's finally time to increase my old bluecoat army.

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 02 Oct 2010 21:13

If So, It's Time for me to HAVE a Bluecoat Army! :D

Posted by Oboe in United States, 02 Oct 2010 21:35

Can someone tell me how $10 in "Geoffrey Bucks" works?

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 03 Oct 2010 00:01

^I Think It's Just Like a Gift Card. :\

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 03 Oct 2010 09:30

whats a geoffrey buck?

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 03 Oct 2010 09:41

"Geoffrey" is the name of the Toys'r'Us mascot, the giraffe that's on most of their branding.
"Geoffrey Bucks" or "Toys'r'Us Bucks" are discount vouchers that TRU use in some of their promotions.

Posted by atxdad in United States, 03 Oct 2010 12:19

If buying two $20 sets, ask to ring them up as two different transactions to get two free magnet minifigures. The register will instruct them to scan a free minifigure with each purchase. I wasn't buying enough to get the $10 Geoffrey Bucks, so I thought this was the next best option. I only brought one $5 off coupon with me today, but in retrospect, I wonder if I should have brought two!

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 03 Oct 2010 13:39

I just went to my local TRU and they said they could not sell the figures individually. They weren't coming up in their system. They suggested trying to buy them online when they are available. Oh well! I would rather spend my money at Legostores. Their "sale" for Harry Potter was ridiculous. they are on sale for their list price except for the castle which is still $5 more.

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 03 Oct 2010 13:57

Hey! Didn't This Post used to Say, "....with any LEGO construction set or game purchase of $35 or more". Now it says $20. I Think I'll Buy The Ostrich race or Quidditch if They're not for Sale individually. D:

Posted by nerzhin in United States, 03 Oct 2010 14:47

Went to Toysrus this morning for the sale-horrified by the price hikes! Plo Koon's ship-30.00, battle packs-14.99, Freeco Speeder-30.00, Dobby's release-14.99, and on and on-all licensed brands were price-jacked through the roof-completely nullifying the 10% off. Bought Pig Farm and Lavatraz and they would not give me the free magnet fig-30% off sets did not qualify for the "spend $20 and get" deal. I guess it must not be real money when its used to buy sale items. However, if you are in the Ann Arbor, MI area, this Toysrus had plenty of Collectible Minifigures, 10% off made them 2.69-

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 03 Oct 2010 14:47

Went to my local tru. They are not selling the minifigs for 1.99. I was informed that the computer won't let the ring it out. However I did score some aliens from toy story. Those are going to be great to add to the collection.
They also had almost a full box of series 2. 2.99 with a limit of 5 per family per day.

Posted by water jedi 17 in United States, 03 Oct 2010 16:06

Games are also 30%off btw
3837 Monster 4 $10.49 (reg.$14.99)
3840 Pirate Code $13.99 (reg.$19.99)
3843 Ramses Pyramid $20.99 (reg. $29.99)
3851 Atlantis Treasure $17.49 (reg.$24.99)

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 03 Oct 2010 16:22

@nerzhin: if I were you I would show the manager the ad and the page from the website (if you have a smartphone) . It clearly states "free minifigure with minimum $20 purchase." On their website it says under the title for the Clone Turbo Tank it says free minifigure with purchase.
TRU soooo reminds me of Walmart and how dumb their employees are!!!

Posted by knuclear200x in United States, 03 Oct 2010 16:31

I hope you cover every week of TRU's free magnet figures. Are they available for purchase for those who cant spend 20$ at once?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 03 Oct 2010 16:38

Nope, you HAVE to spend $20+ in order to get them in the store. They are listed on the website for $1.99 but are currently unavailable. They might be worth getting on the website when all 4 are released. Then they can ship for one price rather than shipping for each one.

Posted by superbrick in United States, 03 Oct 2010 17:16

Thats right. TRU jacks up prices and then sell them at 10% off.
Example: Battle packs:
MSRP: 11.99 USD
TRU's list price: 15.00
TRU sale price: 13.00 USD!!!

Posted by Captain Maersk in United States, 03 Oct 2010 18:00

Just stopped at TRU and picked up 8038 The Battle of Endor for 10% off at $98. (too bad TRU jacks up their prices). They pulled a whole lot of old sets out of the stock room. There was some SpongeBob, Bionicle, about 20 X-wings, and lots of 2008 Star Wars sets. I was there last week and they didn't have any of these sets out, they didn't even have 8038 last time I was there. No sign of the Vintage Minifig magnets or the Collectible Minifigures. Definitely worth checking out as some stores may be pulling old stock.

Posted by atxdad in United States, 03 Oct 2010 18:57

@nerzhin: The two sets I bought that each earned a free magnet minifgure were two of the 30%-off sets, so you should have gotten your freebies too. In fact, upon checkout the register insisted that they scan a free minifigure to give me and wouldn't let them proceed with checkout until they found one to scan.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 03 Oct 2010 19:41

Sets $19.99 and less do not meet the $20 minimum. Additionally, they're 10% off so you need to add an impulse set or collectible minifigure to get to the mark.

Also, the TRU advertisement explicitly denotes 1 minifigure magnet per customer per week, though some stores may not hold you to that. Let's not encourage our members to skirt the rules, though.

There is no restriction against using a 30% off set to get the magnet. That is absolute garbage if some store tries that. But it doesn't surprise me. I've had TRU managers previously try to tell me that the Lego sale at the time only applied to the "bigger, more expensive" sets. Once the cashier scans your Lego purchases, if you qualify for a magnet, it will prompt the cashier with a giant red warning sign, reminding them to scan and give you a magnet.

I picked up a Turbo Tank myself this morning. I got the Turbo Tank for $91, received a $10 gift card with the Geoffrey coupon, and also got a minifigure magnet. It was definitely a great Lego day. :o)

Posted by durins in United States, 03 Oct 2010 22:46

Picked up the X-Wing for 10% off the $59.99 price plus used the $5 coupon. Not too bad. When I went to customer service, she pulled out one of each of the four minifigs and let me pick which I wanted. I took the Calvary officer, but plan to go back later in the week and try to get a Bluecoat. I didn't ask if I could buy them separately.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 04 Oct 2010 09:08

I didn't realize that the TRU stores would have all 4 on hand already. I am definitely most excited to pick up a Cavalry Officer. Hopefully Lego will return to the Old West someday...

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 04 Oct 2010 09:45

I picked up the police station and got the fire chief free.
They clearly have all of them already.

Posted by durins in United States, 04 Oct 2010 11:21

They had two small boxes under the counter and only one was open. I could see in there as she rooted around, all four were in the box. They could have opened four different boxes and consolidated them, but most of the packages were lying flat and organized inside.

For quite a while, I've been looking longingly at Cowboys and Indians figures on eBay. I might have to take the plunge and pick some up now that I've broken the seal.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 04 Oct 2010 12:12

Technicallly they aren't supposed to give you anyone you want. They are marked week 1 week 2 etc. Again like I said before it is TRU employee stupidity at it's best. They get all the "weeks" bags in one box but are supposed to only hand out that current weeks figure. If you go to TRU.com you can clearly see that the freebie figure is the Imperial officer.

Posted by legomylegos in United States, 04 Oct 2010 16:11

the imperial soldier is now listed as IN STOCK on TRU online for $1.99.

Posted by 1265 in United States, 04 Oct 2010 16:25

@ legomylegos - But still unable to purchase them separately or increase quantity while in the checkout cart.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 04 Oct 2010 16:56

You probably won't be able to buy them separately until the promotion period is over (Nov. 1st). They did the same thing last year. Although last year there also was no minimum to spend in order to get the brick.

Posted by legomylegos in United States, 04 Oct 2010 17:47

oh....my bad. i did not actually try to add it to my cart.

Posted by husher180 in United States, 05 Oct 2010 02:03

Online coupon code for TRU: 940710
Gets you 20% off purchase of $75 or more.
Free shipping after $100 purchase.

Posted by pandax in United States, 05 Oct 2010 09:35

Thanks! husher180. I was able to order a green grocer this morning with addtional 20% off.

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 05 Oct 2010 12:27

Thanks so much, husher180! I wish they still had either the Green Grocer of the Fire Brigade in stock, but I found some other great sets to use that promotional code on.

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 05 Oct 2010 12:43

Just keep checking. They seem to go in and out of stock at random.

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 05 Oct 2010 13:16

Yellowcastle- wow thats a rip off, a 19.99 set is 1 cent from 20.00 so it deosn't count.
Although the good thing is that TRU always has a sale, even if it isn't a very good one.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 05 Oct 2010 14:47

@pandax: Interesting, as the Green Grocer has seem to be continuously out of stock for the past 3 months... I wish I would have caught those in stock.
Fire Brigade was long gone when I got to the site.. Did get a Grand Carousel though with the coupon.

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 05 Oct 2010 15:28

I Just Got Back from TRU. My mom Got Me Quidditch for my B-Day So I Got an Imperial. :-) I've always Wanted a Bluecoat! :D

Posted by pandax in United States, 05 Oct 2010 15:34

@madforlegos: Yes, I am lucky enough to get the Green Grocer this morning as I didn't see it in stock for a while (since buy 2 get 3rd free sales). As long as I get the order confirmation email, I guess my order is okay.
It works for Grand Carousel too, but seems each account can use the coupon code once. Keep checking and you might find "in stock"! Good luck!

Posted by atmail35 in United States, 05 Oct 2010 20:10

I just got my shipping confirm from TRU and the magnet wasn't listed. I ordered over $100, what gives?
Anyone else have the same issue? When I ordered the toy story set in august the alien give away was listed as $0.00.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 05 Oct 2010 20:28

@atmail35: you might want to call customer service and ask them about it before you get a ship notice!

Posted by atmail35 in United States, 06 Oct 2010 14:27

@starfire2: I probably should have called earlier but to be honest I thought it was fine b/c when I ordered it showed the note of the free minifigure magnet, I should have realized it wasn't in the cart. I called today and was told that was b/c they were out of stock. It should have added to the cart automatically. However I did buy the 30% off sets, so I don't know if that impacted it. I placed my order at noon on Sunday, the first day...would they have been "sold out" by then?

Posted by atmail35 in United States, 06 Oct 2010 14:33

I just went to the TRU website and they are no longer showing the minifigure under "special offers", like it did on Sunday, which leads me to believe that the cust. service rep was wrong. It seems to be "out of stock" now but I believe it was in stock on Sunday. Maybe I'll take my packing slip when it arrives and see if they store will give me one.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 06 Oct 2010 14:37

I hope so.

Posted by 1265 in United States, 06 Oct 2010 15:24

@ atmail35 - Late yesterday, I ordered three of the 30% off sets, plus I used the 20% coupon code for an additional savings, and the minifig was listed in my cart. Plus, my order confirmation listed the the minifig. Hopefully, it's listed on my shipping confirmation email. If not, I call foul!!

Posted by rhinobucket in United States, 11 Oct 2010 11:09

there was no sale at my tru (RI) unless they didnt put anything out to say there was. tru sucks anyway.
