    Thank you to all 860 of you that took the time to respond to the survey! As promised, I am making the comments available for you all to read along with an analysis of the numerical (goood/bad) questions on the survey results page. Be sure to read the text in the side bar which explains the figures on the graphs.

    I've been reading the comments this week and there are some fantastic ideas and suggestions. I started reading the negative responses first and after the first few pages I started to get worried: there seems to be a lot of things that you don't like and it was easy to come away with the impression that everything needed improving, from searching to site design. However, then I read the positive ones and it then seemed that, actually, there is a lot that you like and I suspect that for every complaint, for example, about the site's design being 'boring' there are 2 or 3 that say 'don't change it'. So one thing is clear, and that is that it's not possible to please everyone all of the time!

    I had planned on replying to most comments individually, however with so many that will be impossible so I've been collating a list of 'themes' (e.g. bricklists, searching) and will post something to summarise my views on each of them over the next week or so.

    Anyway, my wife is calling me to get the lunch now, so take a look at the results for yourself, and by all means comment here on them. I'll be back later :-)

YAY! I got my comment in! Hmmm... curiously, the word "forum" comes up in many comments for BOTH over and under 18s. I'm not alone then. So I think you should consider it! :) WOULD BE SO COOL!!! :D

EDIT: Set review satisfaction is low. That's bad... :(

I'm glad that the site design isn't changing because usualy when somethings changed to make it better it turns out worse and you then cant change it back. I also like the simplisity of the site as it makes it easy to use. But there is one thing why does it say that my comment was posted at 7:14am when it is 12:17 this is the only problem I have with Brickset so Well Done Huw and everyone else who helps make this site good. :)

On the subject of a user forum, I don't think a full forum would be good. You can go to sites like eurobricks for that, however... Maybe something imitating the news, One user can make an article like this same one about their newest MOC or whatever, and then other users can comment. Just like I'm doing on this one?

@DrathMaul: The thing is, EB is for adults, but a Brickset forum would be for BOTH kids AND adults! There's a big difference!

@Johnny, the times shown are server times and the server is in, I believe, Indiana USA. So they'll be 5 hours or so behind UK time. I could probably add something to your profile so that everyone see times in their local timezone but is it really worth it?

@alemas, yes set review satisfaction is low which is why I've started to address it.

I'm not going to discount adding a forum here totally, but it would be a very time-consuming thing to monitor so until I have more time, I won't be providing one.

@Huw: Ok. So it is a POSSIBILITY. Oh goody! Hey, why don't you use the system LEGO uses for its Message Boards: http://messageboards.lego.com/en-gb/default.aspx Yes, I know, it's ANCIENT, but it's simple: No "pre-made" signatures, simple text, a few ranks to spice things up, and that's it!

I think instead of writing reviews that people may or may not like and the possibility of them getting deleted. Why not have it have a recommend or don't recommend button.

@Alemas: EB is for adults? I have an account there and I'm not adult! However, I don't usualy use my account there. Something I note is that the fanbases are somewhat "restrict", be it in the LUG I participate or in most of forums, usually I don't see people commenting Action Figures AND minifg themes. There's lack of interest in both parts, then it is something bad.
I recently "re-discovered" Message Boards, and I didn't found that problem there. Anyway, I don't think Brickset needs a forum with same themes as other forums. We can already comment about the news, we can tell our opinion in whatever Bricklist we create, and we can review sets. That, for me, is enough.

I meant to add a suggestion to my response, but I was in a rush and couldn't redo the survey... so I'll add it here.

I think it would be good if people could give a set just the numerical ratings for their own use. Like, I look at the "My Sets" list and I can't give sets ratings without writing a full public review. I think it would be good if I could give a rating to each set so I can sort the list. The rating wouldn't have a public impact and would only appear to the user.

Other than that, I think it's fine the way it is, with just the odd streamlining (and review improvement) needed :)

Alemas, That's so right. I have been debating on whether to put a false year of birth into EB but I have decided to wait. It feels like forever! A Brickset forum would be so great but maybe like another version of the homepage where anyone can make a post and then you can comment!

EDIT: I forgot to put on my survey that you should be able to put 'I want (number)' for a set like you can with the 'I own (number)'

It would be very nice if you could summarise the main and most interesting criticisms and suggestions for us, there's far too many to read!

I don't see why Brickset should add a forum, the "kids" argument, well, I thought Brickset was never targeted for under 18s, and I thought that Lego themselves provided forums for their major customer base. I think Brickset should stick true to what it is; a database for Lego past and present. It doesn't need to expand infinitely!

If I'm alone in my forum idea, maybe instead of making a separate forum, it could get a forum as part of Eurobricks?

^ I don't think EB would agree because it contains *mature content* even though we could see it anyway without logging in.
