    I'm not even sure when Black Friday is (is it the last Friday in November?)  but I do know that in the USA you all go shopping crazy and there's loads of offers to be had.

This ad must be from 2009. The Troll's Mountain Fortress hasn't been available in stores in a long while. It's not even listed on the Target website. That said, I would love to get it for $65!

Somehow they got some. Most likely found them in the corner of a warehouse and now want to get them out of inventory. Not sure if I want one. It never gave me the good vibes when it was first out, but today it could be different.

During the Christmas season, some of the stores get old stock from Lego to sell. Last year I bought the coast guard patrol boat and tower 7739 for $30 at Walmart. It was just a special purchase in the ad, not a clearance or close out.

Also, Target won't put out the Castle until Black Friday so you won't be able to buy it ahead of time. I don't believe it will be online at Target.com

ALL, If you want to get the Black Friday deal on the Target LEGO sets, go to the store a few days before Thanksgiving and grab the set(they have them out early atleast at my target they have the past 2 years when it was the star destroyer and the indy set), then come back during the Black Friday deal and get a price match. I've done this in years past and this guarantees you get the set without having to wake up at 4am or something ridiculous. Not to interested this year, the deal used to be $50 for a $100 set, this year the deals not so great.

I agree that the deals so far are not that great. K-Mart may end up being the best with their normal Buy 2 Get 1 Free offers. But we'll have to wait and see. At this pace, I may just choose to work on Friday and wait for the Amazon Lightning Deals in November / December...

Additionally and mostly unrelated, I found the 30005 polybag Star Wars sets at my Toys R Us last night for $3.99. If you're in need of a Storm Trooper, then have at it. The baby speeder with which he comes is not much to write home about. I was hoping to see some of the early release 2011 sets but no luck so far.

@yellowcastle....yeah, I agree. The deals are ok, but not that great. They sound like normal on sale prices rather than Black Friday 'blowout' sales. I got Galactic Enforcer for $64.99 and Hyperspeed pursuit for $35.00 earlier this year at my local Target (Queens, NY). Even LEGO store Queens Center Mall has had Galactic Enforcer on sale for $69.99 for the last 2 months now along with Pirates and Power Miners all 30% to 50% off in that same time frame.

Also don't forget at your local LEGO store on Black Friday there giving out scratch cards(Surprise Savings Card) with either 10%, 20% or even a lucky 50% off savings on any purchase.

The sales are great. However the odds of getting the 50% off at the Lego Brand Stores is very low. I think they only put 2-3 in each store.

Is there a purchase limit for the Lego Store sale? Even at only 10% or 20% off, I'd probably be inclined to buy well over $2000 worth, saving over $200 or $400 respectively.

And, if I were to get really, really lucky and get the 50% off coupon, I would be inclined to buy out the entire stock of trains tracks and baseplates on the spot, and probably the entire stock of the $100+ Lego exclusives as well. For that matter - assuming for a moment that we ignore the ethical implications - what would stop me from essentially buying out the entire store, and simply offering the items at, say, 25% in the parking lot to anyone who wants them? I realize that the discount is probably only applied once the sale is rung up. That's ok - I could simply return the items I did not want should I fail to get the 50% discount, right?

I don't think there is a monetary limit at the Lego store with the scratchers. You are free to do as you please. I guarantee you though, most people will end up with a 10% off scratcher, some with a 20% off scratcher and only 1 or 2 people will actually get a 50% off scratcher. I think the best thing to do is grab one item you are willing to buy no matter what and then when they tell you you're scratcher discount then you can decide what to do. I plan on doing that. If I only get a 10 or 20 % off scratcher then I will only buy that one set. If I get lucky and get the 50% then I will buy other things or a bigger set.
As for the black friday ads, so far they all suck! I am waiting to see what Walmart has and then I might consider going there. Otherwise I will be sleeping in and going to the Lego store when they open!

I'm going to two different Lego stores with wife and kid.........each of us purchase one item and then if I hit the lottery of a 50% scratcher......then it's game on!!!

BTW, my wife hopes I don't hit the 50%.

Aside from the chance of getting a 50% off at the Lego store, these Black Friday deals aren't all that great. Nothing will ever beat 50% off the 4504 Millennium Falcon I scored at Target in 2005..

Hey folks, last year TRU had the Indiana Jones Temple escape for $44, and a pretty cheap price on the Star Wars Twilight. I drove over to my local store at about midnight and they had a line 500-600 feet long. I said no thanks. I went home and looked at tru.com and sure enough as soon as the doors opened at the retail store within minutes the price was corrected on line. I had to pay a minium shipping that was well worth it, got everything I wanted.

To add to the first comment in this thread, Thanksgiving in the US is always the 4th Thursday in November, so Black Friday will always be the Friday that follows the 4th Thursday in November.

To be honest, while getting the Lego 50% off would be nice, and the Troll mountain fortresses are nice, but it is not worth having to wade through the throngs of people on Black Friday. So I think Ill do what I normally do on Black Friday. Stay home and watch TV and shop online for 'normal deals'. I mean, really, lines of 100-200 people for something akin to a 20% off sale maybe 30% at most places? Again like others have said, there is nothing hugely groundbreaking anywhere.. now if they have like a fire brigade or Grand Carousel at 30%-50% off that would be something.. but why waste gas, and your time for a slim chance at getting 50% off?

Besides it is not like that will be the only day they have these types of sales.. Retailers will be hurting this year and doing all they can to sell sell sell. Meaning TRU may actually discount the SW legos well for a change.. Ok well, maybe not..

I do not know if anyone has posted this information yet...but I just noticed that very TRU has raised the price on the very popular TRU lego truck (set #7848) by 25% !!! It has always been priced at $39.99 and now it is priced at $49.99 !!! I just feel that this is wrong...especially because they have the set advertised in their large "Great Big Christmas Book." I just called TRU and filed a complaint. I asked for a call back so I will let you know what they have to say about this.

@DAVACE: I saw that too, I believe they actually raised many of their Lego prices for their 'holiday' catalog... I think this is the FAO in them doing this, because FAO was also renowned for their prices being WAY too high. I think this will eventually bite them, but with the popularity of Lego I don't think they will care any time soon. But it takes a 'set' to raise prices in this economy...

Black Friday is the 4th Friday in November. For years and years it meant AMAZING LEGO deals 50% off sets. The last two (this year including) have been lacking. I bought the good guy Fantasy Castle set for $50 from Walmart a few weeks before Thanksgiving in 2008. Now we get nothing good. I can 30% off with coupons.

Target's BF deals are a disappointment. When I saw the Galactic Enforcer and Troll Mountain Fortress in stock again I knew they were going to be a part of the BF madness. I am accustomed to getting $100 sets for $50 on BF so I'm surprised to say the least. I guess if I buy the mountain fortress along with other holiday shopping that totals over $100 I can then get the Target $10 gift card that would help sweeten this deal.

I'm with you Legodad42! These deals aren't much. The TRU deals are even worse as they don't have a 50% discount either.

Wonder what Wal-Mart's going to sell on BF?

One other thing to remember is that, some stores offer coupons (TRU has a $10 off a $75 purchase) and Last year I vaguely remember getting a $10 gift card with my $100 purchase at target (i think it was during the set "door buster" hours. So remember to factor that stuff in; and you may be looking at a close to 50% on some items.

Also, I am AMAZED that TLG is not taking this opportunity to heavy discount the "Prince of Persia" stuff...(yawn)

I have heard rumors about lego.com putting a bunch of stuff up on sale this month, lord knows when though (I am guessing on Black Friday).
Also keep an eye out, because a lot of Lego sets are being listed as 'sold out' at their site, which usually means gone for good.

Just got back from TRU this evening, and got set 5893 Creator Offroad Power for $71.99 + tax

The discount was $15 off 86.99 Regular price... probably the only set in TRU that is mark under MSRP

On a sad note, some of the other sets that i bought earlier or eyeing on have risen in price again

Creator Family home 67.99 (i believe, forgot)
Passenger Train 139.99

@habib604...talking about price increases, my local Target raised almost all of their prices (especially on Harry Potter) from 15% to 20%...so when this 'black friday (a joke this year IMHO)' comes around they'll drop them down to normal price and the buying public will think it's a deal. I'm fearing this is become more and more a trend now and black friday prices are really just a little below retail. Basically it's a normal sale, no truly great savings.
And I wanna' be wrong on this. Hopefully as the season goes on, the price will come down more and more. Crossin' fingers.

Found the Troll Fortress today at Target (about 15 of them stacked on a top shelf)... they were $100 each (I bought 2). I'd rather buy it now then get up at 4am on Black Friday! Also, Local TRU (Woodland Hills, CA) had several Pharoah's Quest Sets and the new Creator house that looks like a log cabin.

This is only good for one set but I thought I'd throw it out there since the BF deals have been such a bomb. If you join the Barnes and Noble kids club (google it) they send you a 30% off email coupon good on 1 kids book, toy or game. . . including any of the lego sets they carry. Anything over $49 ships free or you can join their reward club for free expedited shipping (2 month trial). Might be one of the better deals out there this Christmas *sigh*

Not to be dumb but...

What's to stop someone from buying the sets today and then going back the morning of Black Friday and asking for the price adjustment? Has anyone ever done that?

It seems kind of sketchy but I also think that if I paid full price for something and it went on sale three days later in any other situation, I would be an upset consumer.
